It's not slavery, it's expansionism. And we literally did that earlier.

Except it's slavery, because the Forluc are a slave state.

We are going to help the Forluc conquer another civ and enslave it's citizens.
A thing that happens when a slave state conquers another state is that the conquered become slaves.

I mean, when attacking the Coltyre we will also encounter rebelling slaves. We will then, together with the Forluc, attack those slaves, and put them back in slavery "where they belong".

We did it once when we restored the Forluc, with the excuse of rescuing our own citizens.
Do we want to make it a thing where we're willing to actively enforce slavery not to rescue citizens but just for political gain?

Okay bud. You do you then. We can just let them have the whole thing.

You think the boarfolk won't care that we attacked their home nation???

The Coltyre Confederation is not their home nation, just a conquered nation ruled by a few Boarfolk tribes. Furthermore, the Boarfolk are not anymore unified than humanity is. The only thing that the Coltyre share with other Boarfolk is the species and the religion.

So you want to be known as the faction that will engage in unprovoked wars of conquest?

Nobody will care. As things are right now, people care less having a reason to attack someone and more about if you got a reason not to attack someone. They don't care if you attack someone because you can, but they do care if you attack someone you are allied to or have treaties with.

Songs of Courage (Limited)
Songs of Defiance (Limited)

What's the difference between these in terms of their effect?

You're assuming the Forlucs will win why?

Moreover, what do we gain out of this beyond a resentful vassal? The Forlucs gain an easy victory and loads of slaves, what do we get out of this molotov ribbentrop pact?
I'm assuming the Forluc will win because the Coltyre are currently undergoing a slave revolt caused by Nalnir's (the forluc god) concubine-god, Zaranna.

The vassal we get out of it won't be resentful because we won't engage in slavery, and will allow the slaves their place in society.

That seems hopelessly optimistic.
We're going to attack a nation, kill many of it's citizens, let a large chunk of the others be enslaved (the Forluc enslave captured soldiers and captured civilians) and you expect them to thank us for it.

I remind you of the time we rescued a civilization from a literal undead overlord. Those guys didn't like us either.

And now it's going to be even worse. Because the people you're rescuing thought they'd already rescued themselves. They believe in their uprising, they believe they're finally gaining their freedom.

And then you snatch it away at the very last moment, while working together with another nation which happily enforces slavery.

Oh, and they're Zaranda worshippers, which is diametrically opposed to our communal lifeset. They'll be semi-enslaved anyway, because they'll go fuck the law and end up being forced into communal service for the rest of their lives.

I don't care about the vassal, don't really want it. Let the Forluc and the Coltyre fight it out, both are slave states, and as such not worth allying with. Only reason I don't also advocate war with the Urthrynites is because they might be culturally subsumed by us due to their goddesses obsession with ours. I don't want to ally with any state that has slaves. I don't want to be friends with any state that has slaves. I don't really want any state that has slaves near us to continue to exist. Let them both fight, and we can take out the winner while they are weakened.

YEah, about as hopelessly optimistic as working under not-Realpolitik in which your allies being slavers is a problem. Bronze age, dude, everyone's gonna be a slaver.

That's a lot of assumptions. They still have no counter to direboar cavalry and they just suffered tremendous casualties conquering the tribes.

This is like some "mission accomplished" level optimism. Why would a bunch of Zaranna fanatics be grateful to us?

Everyone may be a slaver, that doesn't mean we need to be one too, for no reason at all.

The bare facts are this :

1) We already have more colonies and more vassals than we ever had, and more than we can realistically handle.
2) We will be going directly against our values by aiding another state in enslaving people. Our forces will directly complicit in the enslaving of others, with no other motive than blatant expansionism.
3) The result vassal will be rebellious, and a massive hassle to deal with. Their culture is probably opposite to ours, maybe even more so than the Maradysh. Zarrandas influence will not vanish, and she'll make them rebel against our communal laws.
4) Our actions will end up strengthening the Forluc, which we do not want.
5) Our actions will make us ally with the Forluc, which we also do not want. We don't want to copy Forluc values. Heck, the mere intermarriage of a Forluc citizens and an Arthwyd citizen will be destructive in the long run, because their blessing is inherently damaging to the idea that everyone should be equal.
