Damn. It's both bad and good, this demon.
Bad, because it's taking our time from growing and having an edge over Urthdysh, while also dealing damage.
Good, because there is exotic fighting experience, novel magic and eventually a demon to dissect/study.

Please stop voting to train sacred warriors. We have enough sacred warriors already. We have thousands. Training a few more will not help beat Ulgoran. The idea that more warriors will help is a bad and wrong one, and it's an idea you should stop believing in.

From the discord:

The demon speaks the boarfolk language.

Presumably he will have a wealth of information about the past that we otherwise won't have access to. That mean that there may be ruins from the civilization that imprisoned him.

... Does the demon have Heroic diplo? Or Heroic Martial? Because if it reaches the Coltyre Confederacy or whatever is going on with the Boarfolk tribes and somehow rallies an army...

Training warriors comes with a good change for military innovations, so you're wrong on that first of all.
Secondly, it could just as easily be that they're thinking of things long term and wish to have a larger army in case another all out war happens.
Study metal will do nothing for us (since the metal is still on the demon) and yet tons of people are voting for it.

Also, mass tagging (or replying in this case) is considered rude, so please don't do it in the future.

We will not have an opportunity to raise a larger army if we are suddenly thrust into an all out war. Our army size is unusually low for the size of our civilization.

Our current problem is also one that has a very high density of combat power. We have a large amount of territory to protect and we cannot quickly receive information of an attack nor concentrate force in response to said information so increasing the number of areas that we can pre-concentrate forces will help us. Also it is more than overdue for a general expansion of our military. Finally calling something a bad and wrong idea with no further explanation adds literally nothing to the conversation.

Not seeing anything in the update about the metal still being on the demon. In any case, getting magical help from the premiere magical power in the region is more likely to help beat the demon than boosting our warrior numbers.

I did give further explanation, in the preceding sentences. We have thousands of warriors and a few more will not help, at least not compared to getting help from the best mages in the known world.

My first vote didn't go through for some reason so I am redoing it. Also it's kind of funny, if we actual succeed in find a way to slay the demon and finish it this turn we wil get a crap ton done from satifying all the faction quests.

oshha stated in discord that if we study metal this turn, and get our hands on the metal from the chains, we'll study it. And I for one 100% desire studying this new metal that the Ancients used to bind a terrible demon. It could be inherently magical, it could be stainless steel, we don't know, but we certainly want to find out. There could be thousands more demons out there beyond the known world. Or buried under the mountains. Best we study ways of combating it.

From the discord as best I can put it:

Metal:
  • The cateyes broke the rock that the metal was chained to.
  • The metal is shiny and grey.
  • No attempt was made to break the metal chain.
  • Metal doesn't appear to have corroded or rusted.
  • No marking, no glowing, or anything that further distinguish the metal from other.
  • Shackle for each arm, leg, and the neck, plus half a dozen chain to hold the demon to the ground.
Creature:
  • Speak boarfolk languages, but is unknown if it can speak other languages.

Updated on what is known about the creature/metal chain.

Searching for the creature required as much manpower as we can. It's easy for the creature to be hiding in the vast landscape that is the wilderness.

It won't help with the demon, but it will help with a war that will potentially come from it's conniving. It's already demonstrated itself to have a smooth way with words, plus the main train sacred warriors has a decent chance of giving us an innovation.

On a sidenote it'd be neat if it was like, Bronze Armour (Primitive), made in response to the demon's power, though unlikely.

All-Seeress scrying is more likely what will be used to find it.

Yes, probably. Though we can't just rely on that. By the time we find it, it could've moved. Or, more interestingly, given that it's a "demon", it may very well be able to block the powers of our Goddesses and fight against them.

Also Oshha, I know that Goddess aspects were only for the grand temple, but is "godslayer" / divine protector or something considered part of Arthryn's wheelhouse? Forgive me if you've already given an answer on this.

Arthryn has trait which gives her a bonus against other deities.

No, our army is way too small regardless of the demon. I didn't vote for training warriors to beat the demon, I voted to train so we can have sufficient army for the next war. The war with Forluc would have gone very different had we spent a few turns training warriors instead having an econ stat quadruple that of martial.

Our permanent martial is currently 9. Coltyre could be high as like, fifteen, or even higher. While we might've sorta gotten anti-cavalry ideas from our cavalry fighting the Forluc, it's still not a fight we'd like to have, even if the Coltyre were in civil strife last turn (which I believe they were).
