It's not as though this sentiment came out of the ether; it came from Wonlyn and Evantine running roughshod over our previous honor system we had with prominent Arthwyd leaders, causing them to want to formalize said honor system into law so that the next persuasive Cadlon can't just do the same thing.
I suppose that makes sense, although I was under the impression taking the lowlands was a generally supported move that ended well. In any case I'm still going to be rolling my eyes at our 'Parliamentary Tanistry' - I'll gain a lot of respect for @Oshha if they play the inevitable civil war this is leading up to straight, since there's a reason nothing like this sustained in real life. It's just begging for people to disagree over who exactly the 'best' heir would be, and now we've got the political elite in the perfect place to start backing their preferred candidates.

It was seen as a good idea by the political elite, who all decided to take it and snub their ally because it is an extremely valuable location.
I wasn't seen as a good idea by Evantine, who decided to fuck off with the army and help Eredan conquer the Forluc in order to rescue the Arthwyd captives because she didn't trust the political elites to give enough of a damn.
It wasn't seen as a good idea by Wonlyn, who when made Cadlon immediately reversed course and all but gave it back to Eira in return for her getting to rule the Corlyd as a semi-autonomous region under us, and who immediately heavily centered authority to her position and began unilaterally making decisions without consulting said political elites.

Being so blatantly and openly snubbed is the perfect reasoning for why said elites will want to enshrine positions of power in law, in order to prevent such things from happening again.

Huh, I hadn't realized things went like that. Wait, I thought people wanted to directly administer the land instead of making it a vassal or colony? Did that end up just not happening?

Frankly, I don't think it matters too much we acquire it except that we have it. There's whole a bunch of salt reaction when we realized we screwed up diplomatically when we don't have to.

They did, and Caermyr is directly controlled by the Arthwyd.
What had originally happened was that the political elite of the Arthwyd claimed the city while Eira was still a captive under the justification of "well you weren't there and it was ruined anyways lol" so when she came back as part of the peace deal, she was pretty pissed to have to rule in some backwater in the middle of nowhere because we took her city.

She was heavily pivoting towards the Caraysh states and against us, but Wonlyn brokered a deal where we eat the Corlyd lands, but she gets to rule said lands and Caermyr as a Sacred Governor General; a position right below that of the Cadlon that is still heavily autonomous and able to control their own military force. She is a part of the Arthwyd, but is autonomous enough to be a vassal in all but name.

This ended up working out because we smoothed over relations while gaining both Caermyr and the Corlyd lands, but that was because of Wonlyn taking matters into her own hands.

I wonder if the law curtails her powers now considering the initial driving force behind them was curtailing the power of individual leaders.

Also I wonder about the train warriors action at this point. I feel like our people should recognize just how much land and people we rule now so each training warriors actions should generate far more warriors than it once did.

Very well. Given that we aren't going to spend a Main action to send a Diplomatic Expedition to the Urthdysh, I guess I just have to hope that things happen off screen.

Still, @Oshha, will actions taken by the provinces count for faction requests? And for me personally, when it comes to wanting to convert them, will minor diplomacy (done by the provinces) help?

I made a map with the provinces numbered on it. Please correct me if I'm wrong, because this is all based on my best guesses, not actual knowledge.
1. Greenbay
2. Rockbay
3. Sunrise Bay
4. North Coast Plains
5. Upriver Plains
6. Sunrise Plains
7. Lowlands Conflux
8. Northern Green River
9. Southern Green RIver

I'm guessing as well, but I believe that what you labelled as no.6 should actually be no.3 (which you missed) and that no.6 is actually northeast of no.5 and thus east-ish of no.3

Otherwise, I agree with the labeling.

We should keep the Diplomacy policy while our Diplo hero lasts. So one more turn I think. Given that we have a new full polity up and running with issues brewing in the Coltyre Confederation, Diplomacy policy with Diplo hero together is probably rather important.

I didn't miss 3. It's between 4 and 1, where the mountain range meets the sea. What you're saying can't be right either, because there's nothing northeast of 5 but empty wilderness. We don't hold territory there.

6. Sunrise Plains

8. Northern Green River
9. Southern Green RIver
Number 6 is sunrise bay and number 3 is just a mountain outpost that acts as a halfway point along the sunrise mountain path.
