[X] The People headed up the river and settled down in the spot where the river entered a vast and unimaginable amount of water.

It really says something about how influential paths of civilisation was that a Civ Quest no longer refers to a CKII quest and is now one of these start from the stone age ones.

I'm hoping for Harzivan influences more than anything, bc I totally forgot about PoC.

[X] The People headed down the river and settled in fertile grasslands where the river split into three directions.

Floodplains start. Unlimited food

This quest will be like Paths of Civilisation not Amber Age due to a focus on the civ itself rather than any particular character. That said, I am thinking of making this setting not just non-Earth world, but also making it a low fantasy world so it will be closer to Amber Age than PoC in that regard if I decide to go through with that.

This is the sea as you can see.

Or a lake.

Given that it's upstream, it's probably a lake, even if it might be a salt lake.

Actually, up and down the river refers not to which way the water is going, but to north and south respectively so going up the river is following the river north while going down the river is following south.

But for clarity's sake, it is the ocean, not a lake.

On another note, I like to leave the vote open for 24 hours at the latest, but I am in the mood for this quest and we have plenty of votes so I am going to call it here and start work on the next update.

It feels weird for people to refer to going downriver and downhill as going up, and vice versa, given that they probably don't even have compasses yet, but alright.

You don't need to worry about that. I just put up and down as those were the directions in my map that they were going in. Towards the ocean was going closer to the top of the map hence 'up' while heading upstream was going closer to the bottom of the map hence 'down'. I didn't even consider how that could get confusing with upstream and downriver as I forgot about those terms.

[X] The People moved away from the river and settled down in in the area between the fertile plains and the bountiful forest.

@Oshha have you checked out Artifexian's youtube channel? He does lots of cool stuff for making climates, currents and such using pretty straightforward rules of thumb - also cool conlang stuff!
