Catching Victory (A Pokemon Quest)

[X] I just hope this'll be the last time I almost get killed.

[x] Rest here for the next few hours.
[x] If nothing else important occurs, alternate between:
-[x] Train your pokemon against the ones in Route 303.
-[x] Walk around the town and talk to people.

[x] I'm not going to be this lucky all the time.

You sigh in relief. Still, that meant that waling for hours to get to the next city was out for the next few days. Thankfully, training on Route 303 should be fine as long as you stick close to the city.

It's been several hours. Mid afternoon turned to nighttime. Since you were alright, you had been killing time in the waiting room. (Sociable) A lot of the first several hours had spend online, letting your friends know that you were still alive and, for the ones in Nyasa, seeing how they were. Nadia Harras and Benny Friendly were still in Superior, staying with family. Sarah Volta and Sophie Jolly were heading to Blackfist City to the east to get away from the violence. Todd Campbell was heading even further, going back to Kanto with his folks since they think that Vesryn wasn't safe anymore.

And honestly, you can't blame them.

Timofey Gavrilov was apparently going to train with his Poliwhirl to try to join the police or the army "To get back at those sons of bitches. Though you know that he'll train for about a week before giving up on the idea. Still, if he manages to do that, you wish him luck. He didn't tell where he was because "They could be listening" though you hope he doesn't get himself hurt.

But right now, you on your Pokegear with your very worried mother on the other end.

"What the hell were you thinking!" Your mother yells from the other end of the line.

The Hospital had contacted your mother about you being admitted. Being a Pokemon Trainer, at least a professional one, was dangerous. One wrong move with a wild pokemon, or if a pokemon you caught decided that you needed to go, so you ending up here isn't unepected. But to do so just a few days after Nyasa..

"I... I'm sorry. If I knew how powerful the pokemon there were..."

"No, it's my fault. If I had Lucario go with you, maybe-"

"Mom, please. We've talked about this. I don't need Lucario watching over me." Mom had offered to have one of her pokemon go with you as an escort. Just in case something, well, like this happened. But you had turned her down. Three times in fact, because...

[] I want to succeed on my own merits as a trainer.
[] It didn't feel fair having a powerful pokemon with me.
[] I don't want to be tempted into asking Lucario for help.
[] (Pragmatic) It would have damaged my reputation to have one of my mom's pokemon with me through my journey, even if I never used them in battle.
[] I don't know. I just did.
[] I have no idea but I should have accepted her offer.

"I know that I can't ask you to stay safe, but please promise me that you'll be careful from now on. If I lost you..."

"Mom" You say. "I'll be more careful about where I go. I promise"

Mom sighs. "Alright, honey. I'll talk to you later." You hear a sniff from the other end of the line. "Just... just stay safe."

"Don't worry, mom. I will." You reassure her. "Goodbye."

You hang up the phone.

It's around 7 PM as you walk down the streets of Onega. You start striking up conversations with people who don't look like they're in a hurry. You mostly make small talk with the people that you pass by but at one point, you meet a old woman. Easily old enough to be your grandmother. She's wearing a purple dress and her white hair in in a loose bun.

"It's such a shame how so much of this city is paved over..." she says with no small amount of regret in her voice. "I remember when I was a young woman, the gardens here were so beautiful... Now the only green in this city is at the park"

"I was there earlier today." You mention. "The plants there were beautiful. It's a shame that"

"I'm glad that there are at least some young people that appreciate plant life. If we don't have more people like you..." She sighs

"You know they said that Shaymin once lived here. That's why this place was so beautiful. Is this what we're really going to do with the gifts that legendary pokemon give us?"

You remember learning about Shaymin. Legendary pokemon that can cause flowers to bloom in even the most desolate areas.

Eventually the conversation winds down and you both head your separate ways.

You and Neptune work together against the pokemon along the route, taking care to avoid getting close to the mansion. Still, Neptune is getting back into the swing of things. He even loos like he's getting stronger.

The fire and bird pokemon along the route all try to take their shots at Moondust when they think they can, but he endures the hits like you know he can. The training seems to toughen him up.

Philosoraptor works ass hard as ever in her training and she even makes some progress. But like last time, a Blitzle wounds her. While she technically could keep going, you decide to give her a break.

Joan apparently inherited some of your bad luck. She was hit by a Confusion from a Drowzee and taken out of the fight.

The dark type pokemon started to come out at night, which was bad news for Eva. She got some training in but a pack of Poocheyenas ambushed you both while she was out. You let Adamantine out to fight them but not before one of them bit Eva.

Once again, Adamantine did well against the pokemon in the Route. By the time you're done, she looks none the worse for wear, compared to your other pokemon who at the very least bruised.

By now, it's almost 10 PM. You're using your flashlight to get around but you are starting to feel tired. Still, you've got a couple of good hours left in you.

[] Keep training.
[] Use a pair of potions to get your team back to fighting strength and keep training.
[] Head back into town.
- [] Heal your pokemon at he Pokemon Center
- [] Call it a day.

Neptune, Moondust, and Philosoraptor leveled up!

Haha, dem rolls. At least Adamantine had a good time rolling over the puny wildlife. Also, nice to see that our friends are fine.

I'm thinking we could do another training montage for a few days, as determined by a vote, then we try out the Gym.

Break In
You head back into the city towards the Pokemon Center. The streets are empty aside from the trainer and occasional drunkard. Like when you first arrived, the city is quiet, fitting it's small town nature. And that's just as well, since despite several showers at the hospital, you still smell badly. Not as much as before, but just enough for people to notice if they get close. And just enough for your pokemon to want to stay in their pokeballs.

You are walking when you see the museum that you were at earlier that day. Or at least part of the back of it, with a closed warehouse obscuring part of it from where you are.

'I wonder if they keep some of their exhibits in that warehouse when they aren't on display?' You wonder when you see a purple van turn a corner from the direction you're headed and drive towards you. You can't see the driver from where you are but you find yourself reaching for your pokeballs just to be sure. If it's Team Olympus and they're here for you...

Before you can contemplate your chances against them, the van comes to a halt a block away. Luckily, they didn't seem to notice you. You walk into a nearby empty alley as nonchalantly as you can, hoping that you don't get spotted by whoever is in the van. Maybe it's something, maybe it's nothing, but you don't want to take any chances.

Your suspicions are confirmed as two people step out of the van's right side door wearing a familiar looking uniform. Purple, long sleeved shirts with white gloves, purple pants, and black boots. Though unlike the ones you saw before, these two are wearing purple balaclavas over their faces, so making out any details is next to impossible. You can't see if they have any pokeballs on their belts but you see blackjacks on both of them, possible as a last resort weapon.

The next person who comes out is a young woman. Unlike the other two, she is wearing a short sleeved, purple jacket. Her mask which she seems to be fidgeting with doesn't even come close to hiding her long, brown hair, which goes all the way down to the middle of her torso. She's also wearing tight shorts which end just above the knee and a long pair of black boots that reach just below the knees. You also see that she's carrying a spear with her for some strange reason. Maybe for intimidation, since she seems to lack any pokeballs.

The last person who exits the van is dressed similarly to the first two. The main difference is that he's massive. He towers over the rest of the people with him and looks strong enough to break you in half with his bare hands. He strides out of the van with confidence and authority, marking him as the probable leader. Unlike the others, he is unarmed, though from his apparent strength, he doesn't need a weapon.

All four walk into the alley on their side of the street, the large man turns towards the driver of the van and says something to the driver of the van before turning back to the alley and walking in. A few seconds later, the van pulls forward a few feet, then backs into the alley.

You know that you should call the police. Mom would you want you to call the police. You know that you told mom that you wouldn't look for any trouble and you meant it.

But these are the same monsters that attacked your city. Your home.

Is it really that wrong to want a little payback?

[] Call the police. Let them handle it.
- [] Stay in the area and watch the action from a safe distance.
- [] Leave. You don't need to be around for this.

[] Go in and try to stop them.
- [] Use a couple of potions to bring your team up to fighting strength first.

[] Leave. You aren't getting involved in this.

Lets avoid being in the line of fire, and watch from a distance...I kinda wanna know what exactly is going to happen. Well, that and getting a glimpse of what the response looks like first hand could be real useful.

Hmm, makes sense.

I'm tempted to add in a line about the van though.

[ ] Ambush the van once the other criminals are out of sight and earshot.
-[ ] Wreck the van!
Might be overkill, and we would have to do something about the driver first.
-[ ] Sabotage the van!
String Shot all the things?
-[ ] Kidnap the driver!
Confusion to disorient the driver, String Shot to bundle him up.
-[ ] Hide in, under, or on top of the van!
This will totally take us to their secret hideout! There's no way this can go wrong.
-[ ] Steal the van!
Grand Theft Auto: Onega City
-[ ] Troll the driver!
("I ordered that pizza two hours ago!" "Dude, I'm gonna report you for parking without a permit." "Have you accepted Philosoraptor as your personal lord and savior?")

Thoughts on any of those options? At first I was going to recommend waiting till the police get here before attacking the van, but we don't know how long it'll take them.

Trust the police to do their jobs, but be ready to help if they need it.

really tempted to steal it but given that we don't know how to drive it will probably fail

other option is wreck via eva messing with the internals or adamantine slamming into it

we can hitch a ride but not sure that is a good idea.

going to go with having eva wreck it

-[X] Sabotage the van!

Shot Fired
You dial the number into your Pokegear.

"911. Do you need Police, Fire, or Medical"

"I just saw a few people. I think they're Team Olympus..."

The next eight minutes are spent on the line with the dispatcher as she asks you to describe the people, if they had any distinguishing characteristics, what vehicle they had and what pokemon they had with them. You answer as best as you can, but since you didn't see that, you told the dispatcher as much.

Finally, after nine minutes, you see the red and blue lights of a police vehicle driving towards the alley. They come to a halt nearby, two police officers stepping out of each and releasing their pokemon, three Growleths and a Poocheyena between them before running into the alley.

At this point, the dispatcher lets you go, telling you to give your statement to the officer in charge after the arrest is conducted.

"Step out of the vehicle!" You hear one of the cops yell, into the alley.

"I repeat! Step out of the vehicle with both hands in the air!"

The next thing you hear is the sound of a pokeball being opened.

"Growlithe! Ember!" One Officer yells to his pokemon.

The next several seconds are a blur of yelling, noise and light as police and Olympus pokemon start attacking each other. You can clearly hear pokemon fighting but you're too far away to see who is winning or even what poemon are involved.

[] Try to get a closer look.
- [] Use two potions to patch up your team, just in case.
[] Keep your distance.
[] Leave.

Yeah, we're gonna need those heals if we get closer. I forgot that we hadn't reached the Pokemon Center yet after our training session.

Depending on the situation, maybe we could directly attack the grunt with Confusion and String Shot. Or release our onix Adamantine on top of the van.

Not much to say on this one.
