Catching Victory (A Pokemon Quest)

Condemned
You walk closer to the Mansion, alone for the first time in your journey. While your pokemon are easily within reach, not having them out in the open with an abandoned mansion nearby, not to mention the pokemon hanging out outside, if a wild pokemon attacked you now, your journey could come to a sudden end...

You reach for your MagnamiteLite, just in case.

"Alright Bard, you may not be much of a fighter, but these pokemon aren't so tough. You should be able to-"

A dark shape dashes in the corner of your vision.

Eventually, you get to the front door of the mansion. It is easily half-again as tall and wide as any other door you've seen. However, it's once white paint has been eroded until it's almost no evidence of it. It loos almost lie it would fall off of it's rusted hinges if given a stern kick. Or a strong breeze. You could probably go in if you wanted to. But the bright orange sign hanging on the door is giving you a good reason not to want to.

[] Go in.
- [] Because there's bound to be some strong pokemon in there.
- [] Because I'm a glutton for punishment.
- [] I want to see what's in there.
- [] Abandoned mansions always have some good stuff in there.
- [] Write in.

[] Turn back.
- [] Write in an action.

Bad Luck or Good Luck?
With little effort, you push open the door. It isn't a good idea. You know it isn't a good idea, but you are going forward anyway.

As you walk inside, you are forced to turn on your flashlight. The mansion interior isn't just dark. It seems to absorb all natural light that manages to get inside, making a full picture of the mansion almost impossible to get. You walk forward, shining your flashlight on as many places as you can, trying to figure out where you can go from here.

From what you can tell, you are in the main foyer. The floor has several holes in it, showing only a black abyss below. The carpet, which may have been red and gold at one point, starts near the front door and goes to the other side of the room, leading to a staircase directly in front of you, which splits off to the left and right, leading up to two different directions. There is a large set of double doors against the wall where the split occurs, one of the doors which appears to be torn off of it's hinges. It is now that you notice the ceiling, higher than you have ever seen with several large holes in it, letting light shine through in a futile attempt to illuminate the building. To the left and right, you see two other hallways, each with several doors in each.

Before you can decide where to go next, you hear a snapping sound coming from the ceiling.

Your body dives forward almost on it's own, a loud crashing sound coming from where you just were making you grateful that you got away in time.

You shine your flashlight back to the spot where you once stood and see what is left of a massive chandler less than six inches from where your feet are now, the broken chain still swinging as if shaking it's fist at your narrow escape.

If you had been just a few inches short...

You take your mind off of that unsettling thought when you see something on the chandelier. The pile of twisted metal looks like it was gold painted metal, though it is currently covered in a thick layer of dust. While that isn't interesting, the decorations on it are. You see several pieces of red, star shaped jewelry hanging off of it, and from what you can tell, they are very real.

[] Take as many as I can them. They look like they are worth some money. And considering that I have 15 dollars left, it's money that I need. I'll take what I can and keep exploring.
[] Take a couple and get going. I don't want to spend any more time here than I need to.
[] Don't take them. I have a bad feeling about this. I'll just keep exploring.
- [] Go towards the left hallway.
- [] Go down the fight hallway.
- [] Go up the stairs to the double doors.
- [] Go upstairs towards the left hallway.
- [] Go upstairs towards the right hallway.
[] Coming here was a mistake. Nothing good could possible come from this. I'm getting out of here.

Yeah, let's not take the mysterious jewelry off the suspicious falling chandelier in the creepy haunted house.

I am inclined to leave, but that's mostly because I don't want us coming in and screwing with the Ghosts here without our team at the ready.

Chandeliers don't randomly fall in haunted houses. I'm so tempted by the shinies though...

I guess we should could get a dark-type and come back in the future.

-[x] Look around outside the mansion for Pokemon to battle and/or catch.

Still hoping for a Houndour or Zorua. Well, Gastly or Rotom too, but they're not in the area outside the mansion. :3

[X] Take a couple and get going. I don't want to spend any more time here than I need to.

I want to at least see what they are.

For reference, we have 1556 Units of Currency, and we don't have a pressing need for money, since we just stocked up on supplies.

When has taking the jewels* from a haunted house ever ended well? Who puts real jewelry on their chandeliers?

*or the mirror, or the (insert potentially valuable item here)

Resisting Temptation
You ignore the jewelry. You've seen this in a horror movie several times and you know that taking jewels from a place like this never ends well.

Still, you head up the staircase and past the double doors. When you get to the other side, you arriveat the only room in the house that is lit with natural light. It is a large, circular ballroom that vaguely reminds you of the one from your cousin's wedding, though this is much larger. The ceiling is even higher than the one in the foyer, with large columns near the room's edges. On the opposite wall is a large window that stretches floor to ceiling, though the glass itself has long since been shattered, leaving the metal frames with some glass hanging off of it. The blue curtains that once hung off the top of the windows now spilled onto the floor.

"I wonder what happened here..." You say, the sound of your own voice just a little too loud. Did the people who lived here just up and leave? Did something bad happen?

The lac of blood and bodies leads you to hope that everyone here made it out alright, but your thoughts were interrupted by a chilling voice from above.

"Lampent..."

Your head snaps upward as you see a pokemon phase through the wall from the foyer you were just in. It looks like a lanturn, with a blue flame burning inside of it and yellow eyes. It's lampshade and body were both a deep black, making them almost invisible in the darkness above.

"Lampent..."

The ghost pokemon summons purple-blue fire around themself. Loos like they're looking for a fight and you only have a few seconds to react. You need to decide what to do now.

[] Try to catch.
- [] Choose your pokemon
[] Try to defeat.
- [] Choose your pokemon
[] Run back to the foyer.
[] Get out of the mansion.

A Wild Lampent Appeared!
Gender: Male
Level: ?

I would like to catch it as well. The question is who we should send.

It is weak to Ground, Rock, Ghost, Water, and Dark. My choices would be Joan, Neptune, or Adamantine. Based on the description of the room, Adamantine can probably fit in here and fight without destroying everything.

If it keeps flying, Joan will be unable to reach it in order to hit it, due to only have melee attacks. Neptune has ranged attacks that would be able to hit whether it keeps out of melee or not. Adamantine has Rock Throw in that case, as well.

[X] Try to catch.
- [X] Neptune

Not Good
"Go Neptune!" You yell as you release your pokkemon.

"Horsea!" Neptune cheers before he gets a look at the pokemon you expect him to fight. While you can't see it, for a brief moment, a look of pure dread fills Neptune's eyes.

Before you can give Neptune any orders, Lampent's balls of fire converge into one orb then explodes, sending several streams of fire at Neptune. Neptune doesn't get a chance to dodge the fast moving flames. They collide with a force like you've never seen before. Neptune tumbles backwards from the attack, knocked out instantly.

Neptune's sin starts turning from it's usual blue to a deep red from the burns. (Field Medic) You see blisters start to form on his skin, confirming that it's probably a second degree burn. He'll be alright if he stays in a pokeball but you need to get him to a Pokemon Center as soon as you can.

"Neptune. Return!" You say as you hold out his poeball. Neptune is surrounded by a red light as his body as he's drawn back into the pokeball.

"Lampent..."

The Lampent starts to summon more flames around itself, preparing for another attack.

[] Keep fighting.
- [] Choose your pokemon.
[] Run to another part of the mansion.
[] Run out of the mansion!
