Catching Victory (A Pokemon Quest)

Hahaha that was tense, very nicely-done.

The rolls were amusing too. Charmander got his absurdly high roll for removing the String Shot, but Wurmple nat 10'd his "Die roll for HEROIC MOMENT". :D

I now really like our new Cascoon and want to keep him around. Anyone got a suitable name for our champion?

[X] Pokemon Center
-[X] Sleep for the night.
We should probably wait until he evolves to name him.

Dawn of a New Day
Eventually, you make your way to the Pokemon Center. It's only a little after 9:00 but you have a feeling that you've used up all of today's luck. Besides, as good as today was, you're tired. You just want go climb into bed and never get out.

After healing your pokemon, you tell Nurse Joy that you're staying in one of the rooms downstairs. Nodding, she fives you a key with the room it's for on it.

The room itself isn't much. A single bedroom with a twin sized bed, an end table, and some painting or another on a wall. You also notice some pillows on the floor, presumably for pokemon. Neptune and Philosoraptor take their own pillows while Cascoon is content to take a corner. You all say your goodnights and go to sleep.

Or in your case, try to.

As you lay in bed, you close your eyes. But sleep doesn't take you. Every time you start to relax, you're back in Nyasa. Every sight, every smell of burning.

Every emotion, fear for your life, dread, sorrow for everything you've lost, what Team Olympus took away, it all comes flooding back to you. How close you came to dying.

Your hands don't stop shaking as the revelation shakes through you.

Your eyes start watering, and the night slips away after that.

---------------------------------------------------

When 5:30 rolls around, you you give up on sleep. You're not even sure that you managed to sleep, much less how much you got. You check your pokegear. No new messages. No voicemail.

"We have reports that an unidentified trainer that was attempting to help a civilian was hit by a pokemon's attack. We can't confirm her condition but she-"

No. She has to be alright...

She has to be...

You get breakfast for yourself and your pokemon before walking out of the Pokemon Center. It's around 6:15 so it's still dark out.

"Hor-see?"

You look down. Neptune and Philosoraptor are looking up at you. You don't know what he's saying but he looks worried about you.

"I... I'm fine. Let's get going..." You lie.

"Star..." Philosoraptor says. She doesn't seem convinced. Neither does Neptune, but they're still follow you.

I don't see why we can't do all three of these at once.

Bwahaha--so essentially we walked in, took care of business against a vastly superior opponent, then immediately walked straight back out. And thus, the legend of Bard begins. :D

Also, Bard needs a hug. And perhaps a few more adorable Pokemon to cheer him up as he waits for news.

Hmm. There are Riolu in the cave--the wiki says the encounter chance is ridiculously low, yet I feel like I encounter multiple Riolus both times I've been in Wonder Cave.

Well, the video is going viral online right now. Now a lot of people are going to be sure to recognize you.
Especially people who you'd rather not recognize you.

Agreed.

It's more than twice as likely as getting a Bedrill in the forest if nothing else.

RE: Typos

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG!!!

And fixed.

Wonder Cave Part 1
You approach Wonder Cave a small cave near the north end of the town. It's seems small by cave standards but there's probably more underground.

While you are walking you hear an ear piercing sound, you look around for the source and see a Whirmur.
It looks like they aren't letting you leave without a fight.

Need to get that flying attack.

Wonder Cave Part 2
"Philosoraptor!" You call out.

The Starling pokemon takes the lead, dashing out to tackle the Whismur. The Whismur lets out a loud uproar. You cover your ears as Philosoraptor goes in for another attack.

Eventually, the battle is over, and the Whismur lays on the ground, knocked out, though you're sure they'll recover on a little while. Philosoraptor, for her part, seems slightly injured from the battle but she isn't hurt much. The biggest damage is the ringing in her ears.

Heading forward on the only path you can take, you eventually hit end. The only thing there is a ladder leading down a hole, obviously to an underground part of the cave. You climb down the hole, ready for whatever awaits.

Training Roll: 43

As you move through the cave, you seek out wild pokemon in Wonder Cave to battle. The ones you find are mostly more Whismurs, Geodudes, and Makuhitas. They aren't exactly the cream of the crop when it comes to pokemon in the cave and you could have stood to find more of them, but it could have been worse.

You switch around your pokemon to keep them from getting too tired when battling the wild ones. They take a few hits between them but the training has made them somewhat tougher. You could try to have them tough it out, or you could 'er on the side of caution and heal your pokemon.

[] (Field Medic) Use two potions to heal your pokemon to full health.
[] (Field Medic) Use one potion to heal your pokemon to 70-75 health.
[] Keep Going.

Neptune Leveled Up.
Philosoraptor Leveled Up.
