Catching Victory (A Pokemon Quest)

[X] Go see Hypno
I say we use the favor to find a Beedrill and then we take that Beedrill all the way to the championship. Screw the haters, the optimizers, and the minmaxers, we will make up for it with hard work and cunning.

I say we use our favor with the hypno to find ourselves a beedrill. The GM said that we have alternatives to using HMs to get around, but they would be somewhat more difficult. That sounds like more Exp. to me, so it's a win-win.
Well, don't worry. You don't need HMs to get through this game. There will always be another way.

However, that other way will cost time, or money, or risk injury.
That doesn't sound like more Exp.
That sounds like we either get hurt, lose resources, or miss countdowns.

If we want a beedrill we can look for a weedle, they evolve fast.

Then I have bad news for you. In this game, Weedle are about as rare as Bedrill. And in the videogame, you can't catch Weedle at all. You can only get them from breeding Weedle. So barring luck, the only reliable way to get a Bedrill is to cash in that favor.

Returning Drowzee Home
You head back to the forest. By now, it's pitch black. The only sounds you hear are the sounds of the occasional footfalls of the Pokemon native of the forest, but every time you turn your flashlight to see them, they are gone. You keep walking see the two psychic pokemon at the shrine. They're both already looking in your direction when you approach.

"Thank you for returning my son." The Hypno 'says' "I owe you one favor. I hope that will make us even"

You think about. You could ask her for help to find a Bedrill. Either to trade or to keep for yourself. Still, you could use that favor later.

[] Help find the Bedrill.
[] Save the favor for later.
[] Write In.

[X] Help find the Bedrill.

I'm fine with keeping the Beedrill as well as trading it, but without cashing in this favor, we will, in all likelihood, never get the opportunity to choose.

[X] Save the favor for later.

There's cheaper ways to get Beedrill, but HMs are tricky.

I guess the question is: How much do we want that Munchlax on our main team? I think it was discussed that the only reason we're getting the Beedrill is to get the Munchlax in the trade.

There are loads of other better options (type, moveset, ability, etc.), but if enough people really want the Munchlax, I can be persuaded to go for it. If we're not sure about getting the Munchlax, we definitely shouldn't waste the favor on getting a Beedrill right now.

[X] Save the favor for later.

Missed the QM's post that they're rare everywhere including their preevolutions, but I don't really see needing one more than a HM.

How dare you! In something where speed isn't a useless stat, Beedrill are quite balanced! And who wouldn't want a giant killer bee with necrotic venom bring protective of them?

Favor for Later
"Thank you for the offer. I'll think about it." You say to the Hypno. Waving goodbye, you leave the two to their privacy.

Yeah, going by this segment from the previous post, it's time to heal up, maybe chat with people, then sleep. We'll just get up early in the morning.

Pokemon Center
You head into the Pokemon Center. This one is much calmer than the one in Zanzivar. Only a couple of people were lounging around the waiting area. Since your pokemon are in relatively good shape, you strike up a conversation with them.

"...so I go to the Gym and I try to take Deven on with my Snorlax." The trainer says.

"No! Really?" You ask, barely able to believe it.

"Really! I figure he could use Rest and Sleep Talk to do damage and... well I figured that since Snorlax's are damn tough..."

"And since you're here, I can guess how that turned out." You say.

"Pretty much. I'm thinking about trying again tomorrow." The trainer says. "Though it'll have to be after 10."

"Oh? Why's that?" You ask.

"Devon's going with some scientist into Wonder Cave tomorrow. I think the sign on the gym said it was some escort job or something..."

After a few minutes, the conversation slows to a stop. Saying your goodbyes, you drop off your pokemon to the Nurse Joy, you head upstairs to get some dinner.

Thankfully, the food here is more filling. A couples of slices of ham, some mashed potatoes, a roll, and some fresh water. While you are enjoying your meal, you see the television is playing news about the attack on Nyasa. The screen shows a reporter in the news studio. He delivers the news in a calm, professional tone.

"The outpouring of Refugees from Nyasa Town has left Zanvivar scrambling to gather resources, with items like food, clean water, and a warm bed luxuries. The Federal Government has pledged to send aid to Zanzivar until Team Olympus has been removed from the city. Federal Troops hav-"

You sigh, suddenly losing your apatite. You continue picking at your food as you listen to the broadcast. After a few minutes, you zone out before you start paying attention to the broadcast again.

Apparently, they switched from the reporter in the studio to someone in a helicopter. A spotlight illuminates the damage done to the town. The fires aren't burning anymore. Either they burnt themselves out or they were extinguished by water pokemon. But that doesn't make much of a difference.

"We have reports that an unidentified trainer that was attempting to help a civilian was hit by a pokemon's attack. She has been taken somewhere in the city. We can't confirm her condition but she appears to be seriously hurt. At this time, the-"

You start to panic. Start fearing the worst. Mom has been there all day, and she would never stand by and let someone get hurt. What if one of the Team Olympus Grunts had their pokemon attack her rather her pokemon? What if she was the one who was hit? What if she's hurt? What if she's...

You pick up your pokegear to call her but then you think about. You've seen at least three horror movies where the protagonist's location was given away because someone else made a phone call. And if she's hiding somewhere in the city and they found her because of you...

You take a deep breath and try to calm yourself down. She's the former champion. She wouldn't let herself get hurt, right?

Right?
