Bound to Earth: A CK2 Earthbound Quest in an 8-bit Dystopia

It helps that creating an organization is 100% the most complex thing we've done so far. Everything else could be broken down into a few choices, but here even if we get past the initial hurdle of which type, there's a bunch of different ways the types could manifest

Honestly we don't even know what choices we will have outside of the basic three types, at least at first.

I'd say we should talk more about the Plan for next turn, but we still have a while before we can even vote.

Only if without Human or Uplift or whatever Sacrifices. Also Possible name: Church of Peace Strength (and) Yourself
Now now, hold your horses there, let's not rule out living sacrifices just yet, putting aside the fact that we could try and sacrifice normal animals instead of sapient beings, if we find the right target like a CEO working for Giygas I don't see why we can't slurp up their soul like a slurpee for power, or sacrifice them to some all devouring god if we feel like getting a contractor to do it.

If Undertale was in the setting i would have a great Omake idea
Even if Undertale (probably, we can't know, up to the QM because this is their world where their evil is law) isn't in this, that doesn't mean you can't write it anyways. Not every omake has to be some important addition to canon. If you really want to stay true to canon, putting in references like having a classroom be the humanified/Uplift versions of the Deltarune classroom, or just have that friendly kid Frisk who likes exploring be a character in the background.

The solution is clear!

Let's show the Starman Corpse to the Sharks!
Associating with the Sharks could cause problems with our Treehouse Friends
I imagine forming a group with the Treehouse Club and then taking over the Sharks by one means or another will be easier than the other way around.

I'm definitely in favor of founding a criminal organization.

Baseball and looking for assets as our martial and intrigue actions seems straightforward. Don't have a strong preference between Beak Point and Shopping for our stewardship actions. Other actions are probably a toss up for me though leaning between having Porky check on Picky or loaf around.

...

Alright so hear me out.

Lupin III esque Phantom Thieves, with a bit of P5 mixed in.

With PSI abilities, it would be way easier to pull off supposedly 'Impossible' heists. Once we manage to use it reliably without draining ourselves, imagine using a precise application of Plushie to bust open a lock in a vault and just waltz in?

That nets us the wealth we use to fund our actual resistance movement, which can then get us information about major figures like Monotoli, and we can then take them out with whichever facet of our group is more fitting for the task.

We disguise our main criminal activities with totally different criminal activities!
I really like this idea!

It has given me the mental image of CD in a typical 'gentleman thief' outfit, running away from the police by parkouring across rooftops, and just when they think she can't make a jump, she creates a PSI Barrier as a platform to jump off of and escape.

Meanwhile, the police try to figure out who took out the guards of the place she stole from, as all the cameras saw was a single bug, while Buzz Buzz sneaks out a slightly open window.

Big Issue here is I dont see C.D. as being a Gentleman Thief.

The Gentleman part in particular aint her style.

Speaking of actions, I had a thought.

We have 5 actions we can do, but are we restricted to one of each type right now? Or could we ignore, for instance, the Stewardship action to both found our organization and call Mom?

Honestly, minus some mask, I imagine C.D. as being more Lupin the 3rd.

Less stylish, more chaotic and Zany.

Admittedly more violent as well, but some of that is also the setting.

I think you might be underestimating the sheer cultural trauma against alien invasion in humanity right now. Earth got destroyed, hundreds of millions at minimum dead, families separated. All because of the Space Invaders. This isn't in the distant past either, there are plenty of people alive today that fought and survived in the Invader Wars, even if the newer generation or two only know life in the City.

Going up to people, slapping an alien cadaver and it's alien armour on the table, and saying "Join me if you want to stop Space Invaders Part II." is a perfectly acceptable way of recruiting people. There's a reason this is an autopass now.

I will agree that it could be enough and I do recognize the autopass, but remember what CD first said to Buzz-Buzz when he told her about the invasion?

"Why come to me and not someone else?"

There will almost certainly be someone else who will ask the same thing when CD presents her case. These are civilians, not warriors, they'll ask why we don't take it to the local authorities, a corp, someone with actual power to change things instead of forming a gang from scratch, especially when it took the entire world to stand against the Space Invaders and still failed, people will ask what a ragtag group in sleepy Onnet could do in the face of the sequel. We have a corpse, but we don't have evidence to make others suspect that Pirkle is in cahoots with the same alien race other than our word really. Even if we did, then why not someone beyond? Fourside, or maybe even the Big 3. Not everyone's heart will be as determined as CD's when faced with a seemingly impossible task. We should have some incentives for people to go along with our plan instead of trying to take it to some higher power, and I think that's what the wording in the action seems to imply: That while it's an autopass, we'll run into some early obstacles if we do it right now instead of putting in some additional preparations.

Also, I would like to see our potential recruits before we decide on an organization type. Are they mostly goody two shoes? Troubled kids with a chip on their shoulder? See what organization would fit best for the demographic.

Intruth, while I do love the discussion thus far, the current division convinces me more that we should postpone creation and call mom instead.

But on organization-building itself, I won't say much, but I will say I am at the opposite end with some people here: I want CD to be the ruler in the end, I want to create an organization that will last and isn't temporary. Partly because this is a CK2 quest where reaching for the top is the name of the game but also because, if we do succeed, CD is going to be at the center whether she wants to or not for her role in how this all occurs and I would rather have her embrace that instead of going into it unwillingly. It also leaves the question on what exactly we would replace the status-quo with; something that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later unless it either becomes a 'meet the new boss, same as the old one' type situation or renders the Quarter vulnerable to neighboring zones.

There's also still the possibility of hijacking one pre-existing faction or another still, may put us in a stronger spot than starting from scratch but maybe not depending on how many people in said group accepts it when CD is in position to assume leadership.

You are. You have five faction actions that can be taken and each one is reserved for a specific category, Martial, Diplomacy, etc. You cannot forgo one action to take another type.
Alas. I knew that we definitely would be once we had an organization, but had been hoping that there might be some flexibility since these were technically still personal actions. Oh well.

Frankly speaking, many of the incentives that will get more people to join up with us are things that we can get more easily as an organisation with access to more manpower to achieve our goals.

Will it be perfect? Hell no! But the perfect is the enemy of the good when each turn gives the invading alien force across all EQ and not just Onett an extra month to sink their talons in.

A ton of other CK2 protagonists have to start with organisations that are barely functioning properly, or which need to develop and expand. That's normal.

I'm not really into the MLM/Cult thing. Personally, I like the sports club thing, if only as a front for our true goals.

Yeah like i said if the Sport Club idea doesn't win it could be turned into cover/recruiting station
Honestly, an entirely mundane sports club is probably a decent idea at some point.

CD is going to need some way to unwind eventually, and she doesn't strike me as the type of person to have a ton of hobbies. Once things start heating up, having a place she can return to and just play some ball with no consequences would probably do her some good.

Extremely tenative probably bad plan:
[ ] Plan: Organization Time.
- [ ] Just...Play Some Baseball
- [ ] Found an Organization
- [ ] Continue Healing People for Money [Buzz Buzz]
- [ ] Investigate Local Assets in Town [Porky] [Reroll]
- [ ] Poke Around Town
- [ ] Buzz Buzz: Explore The Town.
- [ ] Porky: Loaf Around

We should probably avoid anything particularly dangerous at the moment. R&R time, baby. We finally have everything we need. The lack of a passive income or incentive to join is an issue, i'm not certain about doing it now, but it is at least an option now. With our PSI slightly handicapped, Buzz Buzz's help will get us more scratch, looking into stuff going on around town is useful generally, and giving Porky stat buffs for harder intrigue actions on later rolls could be helpful. Not sure
So, right now, i'm fairly sure on this plan, with one minor exception namely, healing people. With our PSI penalty and the fact we have a lot of money, doing it, and, thereby, amping up the rumors may be a bad idea. I'm not sure what else to do, maybe just shopping, but building up even more money could be useful for that...Hm...
