Domos Kind Adventure part 2
[X]A Layer 4 Private Care Center: You think leaving her in a more, personalized care center will socialize her but keep her safe.
(Ellera POV)
It was probably a good idea to leave Eve in a Private Care Center. If only because it was slightly cheaper, and the fact she likely didn't know her own strength.
There will be time enough to socialize her with other people and prevent her from getting a god complex…lord knows its going to be something.
You walked with Es and Des to the main reception hall and sighed. "Layer 4 Care Center, I'd recommend someone with durability and extra strength she's a handful."
The Receptionist looked at Eve for a moment and sighed. "Another Mutant spawn from hell?"
Well, that was rude…must be one of those purist bitches that wander around being rude as hell.
"Yes…make the arrangement, I'm cashing 4 Domos favor for this." You said. "You understand."
She wrote something in the CPU unit. "Indeed I do…don't get your ass beat too hard mutant…"
Yeah…Domos's purity cult was annoying…even though half of them are mutated in some way.
Well, lets hope Eve has fun with them or at least gives you time to…reacquaint yourself with old friends.

Eve Enjoyment: D100 => 87
Eve knew the truth.
No matter how much Ellera fussed or spoke in that soothing tone, Ellera couldn't hide anything from Eve.
Mom had finally decided to be mean!
Mom always brought her everywhere! Even when she was busyness! And other people were there too! She always had listened to eve before and hadn't left her.
But now she was leaving, and she refused to listen! She had even scolded Eve after multiple attempts at crying! Did she not understand how sad she was making Eve feel?
She could feel the extremely strong resistance from Ellera's mind as well when she refused, but obviously, that was part of the lie! Mom was super lying! Lying in her words and in her head! Obviously!
But she'd see! When Mom comes back, Eve wouldn't even look at her, and it would be mom's turn to cry!
And-
"Come along Eve. Now that your mother has left, its time to take you to the nursery."
Ugh! This wasn't even the woman that mom had spoken to! Why would Mom leave her to a complete stranger? and why was this woman super lying too? Obviously, she didn't care about her, if she couldn't even spare time to meet mom!
Ha! How do you like not even being looked at now? Ha!
"I'm sorry your mom had to leave, Eve. But don't worry! We have all sorts of fun games if you come with me."
She then looked around and floated small objects around you, like mom did. "This is how I learn about you, do you want a game, a movie or the playpen...now I'm sorry you can't just go out and play with the children yet, it's nap time for them."
You felt some of your spit build up on your face. "ABABW!" <YOU UTTER FOOL How Else am I supposed to learn how to be like Mommy and LORD over the people responsibly! MOMMY Say's I'm going to be her little conqueror!!">
"Aww, first time away from Mommy's always the hardest." She said burping you as you burped and released some of your spit. "Don't worry we're gonna love you...for just the way you are."
You then tried to reach for her breasts.
"I know your mother fed you before leaving, plus you wouldn't like what I have those haven't been used for their intended job in 26 years." She said.
"BAH." You said. <Curses!!>
"Do you want to see what you want to do?" She said.
You hand then moved to the Film.
"Ohh, the kids love the animated films...this one has no hard violence or sex in it...Rated G, lightweights." She said.
"Then we can meet the children after their nap." She said. "Now...get cozy...its an hour or so long." She said
...
You had to say you had some serious concerns about what these people thought of action. Seriously, only Mr. Foxy seemed to be any good at running. All of his friends seemed to have two left feet! Baah, you would do so much better than Mr. Foxy's friends!
and wow, did you wish you were with Mr. Foxy right now. After all, you had been found by the scum of the galaxy! Bandits were upon you!
"Mr Foxy, you can do it!" "Marcy, stop talking.' "YOU SHUT UP BRIAN! MR FOXY IS BETTER THAN YOU AND YOU HAVE TO SEE IT!" "NO HE ISN'T!"
These Villains! They didn't even understand that they were your subjects! You were a conqueror! They should listen!
Instead, they defied the natural order for their own pleasure and-
"BWA!" <SILENCE, DISRUPTERS OF PEACE! Bow before your lord!>
"Shhhhh... see what you did, Brian! you upset the baby!" "alright, alright, we'll both shut up, ok?"
These villains didn't even understand the law, even when you tried to explain! They just carried on like you hadn't said anything!
CURSES!! MR FOXY DESTROYS THE BANDITS!! They are a hinderance to your plans.
MR FOXY!! Why aren't you listening either?
Your caretaker person looked at how you babbled while watching the film. "I haven't seen a kid into this movie in years...glad you're enjoying it."
NOOOOOOO!!!!

(Ellera POV)
You were supposed to be having dinner at The Old Max, one of your favorite old haunts. Its a decent nightclub on layer 5, and it has always had some sort of enjoyable entertainment going on.
What Ellera didn't expect was an all-expense paid limo and a trip to the layer 7 nightlife, starting with the most expensive restaurant you've ever gazed upon. Even Es and Des seemed surprised when the limo came
You can't help but wonder who is trying to get your attention now.
A question that is quickly answered when you are brought to your table, and you find who is already sitting there.
Emma Weber, despite the normal sounding name, was anything but normal, spy, diplomate, sex god and now...to your surprise a member of Layer 7.
Now you knew the details were classified and under lock and key. But the Last time you saw her she was a member of layer 4.
While the story was interesting you were more surprised that she seemed to have aged very gracefully in the twelve or so years since you last saw her in person.
as you saw her turn towards you, you could see the definite signs of a full-blown smirk. It seemed she was in a grand mood if she was showing her happiness so openly.
You remembered the old days, right after you first met her. How she had this irritating habit of giving only the slightest hint of a smile by let one side of her lip twitch. You remember how she played hard to get for so long.... You remember how she scowled when you told her that her face would be stuck in a flat expression if she didn't smile more.... You remember how she told you that a smile could ruin an old face.
You couldn't help but feel that she had somehow cheated now, both sporting such an open positive expression, and how she had seemed to even cheat old age at the same time, despite being the one to tell you that old age and death were the two enemies that always won eventually.
Ugh, that smirk was too strong. You could already tell that she was feeling like she had won some great triumph, and that she would be lording it over all of you for the entire dinner.... And yet, you couldn't help but feel relieved to meet her, despite this, and the dozen other bad reasons.
You really couldn't forget those feelings of yours, could you?.... despite how bad it was for you.
She looked up and down at you as you prepared to sit down and enjoy the conversation. "You've been blessed by motherhood. I'm sorry I wasn't there to help you through that."
"You would have tried to take her away like how you tried to convince me to run away with you and cause my nation to fall into Civil War." You said firmly, that the complicated feelings of life were from the past.
You couldn't truly afford to think of childish relations. No matter how good of a kisser she was...God it felt stupid thinking about it now...she broke your heart and tried to ruin your life using her charm.
For all of her skills and training, she was still sent to you serving a different master.
"It's just business...you know that, same way you feel killing fathers and brothers and tearing apart families...you were always good at violence." She said.
She then reached over and partly pulled open your coat and revealed your Synth Suit. "Holding out secrets from your teacher is a nasty habit."
"I remember the last time I told you anything about pre-interregnum tech, and my other crush almost died in an accident, and had almost everything taken from him"
"Honey, I believe I have always told you that you were due for someone far beyond him, and-"
"You do understand that you are insulting my daughter's father, correct? and the one lover I actually trust to always have my back."
...
...
"That isn't how it's supposed to go. You need someone with better genetics for the-"
"You mean, I should've had Eve with a betrayer like you? I actually would like her to grow up honest and truthful, not someone as duplicitous as you."
"Ellera, calm down a little. You are letting yourself get carried away. I brought you to layer 7 some that we could have some fun and-"
"Emma", you hiss with overexaggerated disdain, "Emma, how can I have fun here, when every act eventually just turns into more pain?"
Finally, your old teacher looks to have a little shame. You know you are going too far, that you absolutely are exaggerating things...
but her first comment couldn't have been more poorly made. She saw a synth suit, but all you remembered is your last tech expedition and how close you lost your child to your .... worst impulses. And now she calls you violent... now she talks about how you hide secrets. Does she really not see how much you could lose? Is she intent on never recognizing your pain?
It makes your gut turn that she can't see how hard this stuff is. At the end of the day, your rage reminds you, all of this is just business.... and it can only hurt you if your heart gets involved.
The good thing is that she recognized her mistake. "Oh...well, at the very least I'm going to pretend to apologize for the night."
You raised an eyebrow before shrugging. "There is a reason it didn't work out, your lack of tact being one of the parts of it."
"I'm a spy and assassin, all I do is pretend, the problem was in your youthful confusion, you thought it was real." She said.
"It like a lot of things was a lesson in the end." You said. "At the very least tell me how you got into the Seventh Layer?"
"Have you ever wondered how the last Pope died?" She said.
"I'm basically agnostic? And that was you?" You said.
"His heart exploded." She smirked.
The conversation quickly settled into a comfortable rhythm of questions and understated descriptions of extreme violence, as Ms. Weber slowly revealed some of the vents that she had been involved in the past decade.
Finally, Es and Des seemed to exclaim in relief when the food arrived..
The food you hadn't ordered.
"Don't worry, El. This is a 7th layer establishment. You don't need to order. Instead, an appropriate meal is made based on bio scans made when you enter the building. Its nothing too invasive, but it lets the chefs know exactly what type of food you would find delicious."
And there it is again. She can't help but trigger that sense that this is somehow all a lie. Its faint, but you can hear a voice in your head warning this is all a trap. Instead, you quash the feeling and try to soldier on and forget your doubts for a little longer.
"Before you try to leave listening to the voice in your head...do try the cheese and deli meat."
You reach down to the cheese and meats while remembering that sometimes she has an incredible ability to read you.... but then again, that was all part of the mission, wasn't it?
You know it isn't the food, but the whole thing tastes bitter, and you give yourself a second to actually calm down before continuing the conversation.
"So...your a layer seven now?" You said.
"I put a lot of work in in the last several years. A real busy body I've been." Emma said.
"How fake is your body at this point?" You said. "Can't make it to a Seven without a sacrifice or two."
She pauses for a moment, before answering, "Well, you know about my heart. That was one of the things I told you about before you left. I've also replaced my lungs and rib cage, for a full endurance package since then. My superior has been pressuring me to get my hands redone as well, but you know how much I like my personal touch, So that isn't going to happen anytime soon."
You do remember her story about how she needed her heart replaced. You can remember the exact words she used to describe her 'fuckup of a first mission', that had ended with her almost dead but achieving success far beyond her wildest dreams.
Honestly, you are surprised that after she betrayed you, she didn't turn that whole talk into a lesson by itself. You could just see her warning you about trusting 'those who admit they have no heart', or even just trying to teach you about 'what you should sacrifice if you ever really want to have great success'. Still, you know exactly what kind of person she would've turned you into if you had let her...
You would never have stopped your rampage on that space station, would you? She would've counseled that you shouldn't waste your rage.
She would've said that you stopped your daughter from learning a very important lesson. Everything is a resource with her after all.
"I'm surprised that you haven't replaced your hands. You always warned me about being too sentimental about any weapon."
She has a faraway look as she stares right through you, "My hands are in the exact form they need to be. These tools work best with the correct amount of information, and I won't foul them up with additional sensory data. Moreover, you know how your mind alters memories to compensate for updated body parts. It destroys the memory of trying to match old feelings to new body parts."
"Again with the sentimentality. You never put much weight in ruminating about past experiences. You always were pushing for something new."
The moment seems to linger for an eternity before she breaks your glare and looks away. When she finally has the courage to meet your eyes again, it seems she is desperate to move on to a new topic, "Well, if you're so excited about new things, then let's talk about your new suit"
"I've had it for a few years now." You said calmly. "It's quite snug...and it keeps adjusting itself in my sleep?"
"That's because it's alive, non-sentient, but it is very much trying to be a part of you," Emma said.
"Well, it had everything I can ever want to entertain myself..." You said.
"Oh, I bet...have you figured out the more advanced bits?" She said. "I'm no expert myself but the belt line does contain a more in-depth system if you can't exactly think of it."
How did she? "My guess is your friend in high places has one?"
"A Layer ten, she's older the most of us here. Es and Des were her caretakers when she was having her intestines replaced with flash organs...don't know why she was a body purist, but to each their own."
"How old?" You asked as you looked at the belt line to see little control bits light up.
"Around six or seven hundred years old...she doesn't do much except Sexual education, not after a brush with an auto ax to her face...somehow after getting rid of the worse scars made her even more pretty." She said.
You noticed her eyes flit around your body, as you suddenly felt self-conscious. Was she really going to start up that old argument about scar removal? You were proud of your war trophies, even the ones inflicted on your body! She had no right to tell you that you needed to remove them.
Still, it seems as if she was in an agreeable mood, as she continued, without touching the taboo topic, "She has had great enjoyment with her device, but I have heard about one issue." She pointed to one of the dials on your suit as she continued, "That particular setting was never implemented properly, apparently, and-"
Your mind went back to the similar warning Dr. Ambrose had given about the suit after her inspection, and you wondered why this warning made everything feel so much worse. This was supposed to be a night to catch up, a night with friends, and a night where you could relax without eve. Instead, it was making you want to scream and go back home.
Es finally cut into the conversation, "Wait, Emma, you can't be talking about... that fat hag! She had a suit like this? And she never shares!"
Des chided her quickly, "Es, you remember that her appearance was just a side effect of the stasis she was being kept in before her organ replacement, right? Have you not looked her up? She looks gorgeous! Unless... were you into her in that size?"
Your old teacher couldn't help but chuckle, "Es, I know they value discretion and not poking your nose where it doesn't belong, but... that doesn't mean assuming their hospital gown is their normal fashionwear, right? You are probably expected to check their publicly available pictures to know what they look like."
Es responded in mock outrage, "Traitors! Aren't you supposed to be helping me out here! I can't believe both of you are laughing at me! You could've told me I had the wrong idea!"
You couldn't help but join in on the ribbing, "But Es, we are helping you. You are looking for the woman of your dreams, someone who leaves such an impression that you can't hep but remember what they looked like the first time you laid eyes on them. And now you've met such a person!"
Es eyes seemed to vibrate for a second, as she took in what you said, "Ellera, she is not my fated romantic partner! Not that fat hag! ... Wait, Why did you tell them about what I thought meeting my fated partner would be like.... Wait, Ellera, why are you joining in one teasing me?! Its supposed to be the other way around!" Es replied in false indignation.
Emma quickly asked, "Wait, Es? Fated partner? What is that about?"
Des quickly answered the question before her friend could silence her, "Es believes in finding your true love at first glance. She's convinced she will always remember her true love's appearance from their first meeting, and that's how she'll be able to tell its her fated romantic partner"
Es responded in false shock, "Des, you're not supposed to know all that! Wait, don't make fun of me! That fat lumberjack of a woman is not one true love! Quit that smirk, Des!"
All of you chuckled, while Emma took a moment to drive the final nail in the coffin, "I don't know, Es. From what it sounds like, this meeting checks all the boxes for true love. I think you have to admit to yourself what your heart truly desires."
"Guys!!! All of you! Traitors! This isn't true love! I'll get back at you for this!" Es responded toothlessly.
For a moment, you all enjoyed yourselves... but then you were reminded of who you were eating a meal with.
"So... I enjoy this and am thankful for it all. But I'm sorry Emma, your going to try to convince me while under the haze of sex and ale, to leave, leave my nation and leave the long term problem to my child...tell me that be her mother, not her head of state and be happy." You said.
"I'm sorry...I can't...I have to be the responsible one, for my nation and my Daughter." You said.
Your teacher looked stricken, and as the laughter cut out, she scrambled to answer you, "Surely we can have a discussion about this and-"
You shook your head, unable to stop remembering your past, "You know as well as I do we already had that conversation. "
Your old fling desperately tried to change tact, "You know, we can leave this topic for later. We were having fun, and-"
"And you've always told me to deal with my problems conclusively so that I can actually relax and have fun, when I get the chance.... Although now I wonder, was that one of those lessons you gave me to just give yourself the opportunity to get closer to me?"
"Ellera, I truly was trying to teach you as best I knew how! You had to be better!"
"But being better for you meant being a part of Domos. and I've always had responsibilities for my nation. Responsibilities that I won't forsake. I have never been 'the hedonistic daughter married to a few empty words and pledges, and unable to truly enjoy pleasure' like you told me last time. I do take my position seriously. My family always has. And I won't just leave things for my daughter like an overfilled trash bag I'm too lazy to take out. I do my duty!"
Emma shrank back into her couch, and for the first time, you noticed little blemishes she tried to hide under the makeup. The dark circles under her eyes. The gaunt cheeks hinted she might not be eating enough. However, contrary to these details, she answered just as firmly as you, "I am sorry I hurt you. But I did teach you, and I did try to make your future better. My efforts have never been a mistake... Just know, true conviction hurts everything...that's part of the reason why I even asked in the first place. That dedication will kill you."
"I already made my decision nearly twelve years ago... it's time for you to accept it." You said.
Emma for her part nodded. "So you did grow up while I was gone." A small smirk denoting pride.
"If you expected this to hurt...I'm much tougher than you. Goodbye Emma...I hope you aren't destroyed by your boredom and the real sense you finally found something you can't have." You said.
"Es...Des, I'm going to the apartment, I'm going to have fun and then spend time with my child. Hopefully you two haven't lost your touch and know how this works." You said tapping your thigh.
Emma was going to get cockblocked, and you were going to enjoy every moment of her realizing that.
Just as you were about to enter the limo and leave, you looked back one last time.
You quickly entered, but the image of your teacher stuck with you. You don't think she realized it, but tears were starting to form on her face. She actually looked sad this time.
Huh, tears were also starting to form for you too.... This was truly goodbye after all.... You didn't think you cared after so long but... It looks like this final meeting hurt your heart too.
The sound of the road and your companions seemed to dim as you realized your feelings.... before you were jostled and felt a comfortable warmth.
You took solace in the impromptu group hug Es and Des were giving you as you exited layer 7 and rode towards your apartment.

(Eve POV)
You looked up as your eyes fluttered to see Mama. "Bah." <MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY! Look, I have minions now!>
Of course, your minions were sleeping again, but you weren't.... tired
"Hey little conqueror...you managed to be good for them. And look at that yawn!" She said,
Your hand then went to her face and noted she was wet and cold.
"Mommy had a shower before getting here...how are you feeling? a little tired?" She asked.
Not tired! Safe with mommy...SAFE.
Your eyes fluttered again as you started to sleep.
"Well...guess you were really tuckered out then, huh?" She said.
