Best In Life - Imperial Knight Order Quest [Warhammer Fantasy]

Voting is open
Interesting...what are the troublesome effects of prolonged bitching, as far as we know?

And would the motivation of a powerful opponent that could genuinely possibly beat her affect Johanna's progress at all?
1) That remains to be seen. Most likely Bretonnia being testy and possibly Knights Errant picking fights with your knights later on.

2) Again, depends on what you mean by 'progress'. Rivalries are a thing.

@Imrix
I'd recommend having either Sigmar or Myrmidia as our patron god, unless you want to go with a Secular Order.

And here are a few name recommendations:

Knights of the Iron Forest
Knights of the Iron Arm
Knights of the Iron Gauntlet

-[X][MARTIAL] Your old sparring mate, Dragg Limbripper, has heard that new Orders are being founded and come to seek his knighthood yet again. While an ogre squire would be a first, there's no actual rule against it, and Dragg's a good fellow. A bit dim, but he means well! Besides, he's a phenomenal wrestler, and it'd be good to have a training partner who can actually push you - and just think what he could make of your knights!... If he doesn't break them.
-[X][STEWARDSHIP] Sontrulvus is an elven merchant, immigrated here from Ulthuan several hundred years ago and now a naturalised citizen of the Empire. Adept at both diplomacy and business in a way you could never comprehend, he would be the ideal retainer if not for his awful attitude. Although his court manners are impeccable, elves are not well-liked by the common folk of the Empire, and neither for that matter are merchants, so taking him on will raise a few eyebrows. At least he respects you somewhat, thanks to your service in the Long March. (Special, may be selected as either a Stewardship or Diplomacy option, and can act in both capacities, but costs 50 Prestige)
-[X][DIPLOMACY] Luise Liebjungfer once served Duchess Alda von Preissner loyally as a Lady-in-Waiting, but tragically the Duchess died not too long ago, reportedly slain by beastmen while visiting her vineyards. With the death of her lady, Luise has been looking for another to serve. Reputed to be one of Reikland's finest ladies-in-waiting, Luise would be a great boon to the comforts of your household and the efficiency of your staff, and apparently her massages are incredible. Well. The job has to come with some perks, right?
-[X][PIETY] You've met Sunnhilde Kantorowicz before, at the center of an outbreak of Nurglites near Kemperbad. By all accounts she is a normal priestess of Shallya, if a little stiff, preaching peace and treating the wounded… until she saw the infected dead rise, went mad with outrage, and began beating them to death with whatever was nearby. By the time your Reiksguard arrived she was still beating them to second death with an iron bar. A Shallyan Priestess would be an invaluable comfort to your subordinates, and you actually wouldn't mind having the little firecracker around… But being that high-strung probably doesn't bode well for her future in a Knightly Order...
-[X][BRETONNIA] The new Marquis, a fully ordained Knight of the Realm, has taken up the Kingdom's vendetta and seeks to challenge you to single combat, with the caveat that if you lose, you will become his wife. That's… slightly concerning. You have no intention of getting married to a Bretonnian, you know what they do to women there. Your future there is death in a wineyard, not death on the battlefield. And you don't like wine that much.
-[X][DESTRUCTION] As a teenage girl, you once had a daydream or two about being kidnapped by a vampire and finding eternal love in undeath - because monsters or not the story of Vlad von Carstein and Isabella von Carstein is pretty fucking romantic - but the thing about teenage fantasies is how awful they tend to be in practice. Which is not great for you, because you seem to have a vampiric admirer. More than once he's slaughtered a pack of beastmen and greenskins to raise an army to fight you, just so he can see you again. It's… actually fairly thoughtful of him to clear out the Empire's enemies while still giving you something to crush, but this is still creepy. Eurgh.
[X] Plan: The Order of Knights Warden
[X][FAITH] Secular Order: Divorced from the politics of religion and free to operate, but they forsake the blessings of their patron.
[X][MARTIAL] Your own squire, Reinhard Edelstein, appears to have put his name forward! He served you during your time in the Reiksguard, and you struck up a good rapport with him as friend and teacher. When you left, he had already become a fully ordained knight of the Reiksguard. Another veteran of the Reiksguard would be worth his weight in gold.
[X][STEWARDSHIP] A Journeyman of the Gold Order, Otwin Schwerin seeks employment as part of his education to become a Magister - apparently serving the Emperor's sister looks good on the records. He's too thin, spends all his time in an expensive laboratory, and apparently his magic is on the weedy side, but he's apparently an enchanter as well as an alchemist, so you're willing to overlook how he smells funny and how his nose is always in a book, as long as he can make your sword magic.
[X][DIPLOMACY] Luise Liebjungfer once served Duchess Alda von Preissner loyally as a Lady-in-Waiting, but tragically the Duchess died not too long ago, reportedly slain by beastmen while visiting her vineyards. With the death of her lady, Luise has been looking for another to serve. [X][BRETONNIA] Especially now that you have a Grail Knight coming after you. Apparently the Lady of the Lake took a personal interest in you defeating their Lord and has sent one of her personal demigod champions to beat you. At least you can trust that you won't die in the process. Maybe if you make a good enough impression they won't put you on a spit and roast you.
[X][DESTRUCTION] When Gork and Mork were handing out luck, Boss Ribkrumpa got the short end of the stick. He's been skulking around Reikland since before you were born, launching irritating raids but never amassing the successes necessary to accumulate a proper Waaaagh!, only holding onto his position through his innate might as as a Black Orc and a certain low cunning - you tried like many before you to crush him for good, but even the Reiksguard wasn't enough to keep him from slipping away. Now he's finally sick of being dismissed as an annoyance, and has set his sights on making his name as the Skullcrusha-crusha. He's experienced, an uncommonly skilled tactician for a greenskin, and rapidly growing in power in anticipation of facing you.

[X][STEWARDSHIP] Besen von Verlässlich, or Brom as you called him, is a childhood friend of yours. You remember him as he was, weedy and noodly, but he had heart. So you kept him around, showed him the ropes, dragged him along for walks, and hammered him into good iron. Before long he grew up, bulked out, and became someone worth talking to. Last you heard he had become a part of the Imperial Estate, an aide to the Imperial Steward! And now he's applying to serve you. That's… actually kind of sweet of him.
[X][DIPLOMACY] Luise Liebjungfer once served Duchess Alda von Preissner loyally as a Lady-in-Waiting, but tragically the Duchess died not too long ago, reportedly slain by beastmen while visiting her vineyards. [X][PIETY] You received an offer from a Templar of a Religious Order to join your service out of respect for your prowess, deeming it pleasing to their patron. Whether or not you choose to remain secular or dedicate yourself to a god, another veteran of a Knightly Order can only be helpful. Write In: a strategically minded and well-traveled Knight of the Blazing Sun
[X][BRETONNIA] A Knight Errant has declared a vendetta on you, vowing to defeat you to avenge the slight to his father's name… oh, great, the Marquis' stupid son wants to avenge him. He's even a Knight Errant, so either he'll hound you to the end of your days or you do duel him and someone dies. Note to self, find a Jade Wizard. Hopefully he wises up soon.

You're surprised he's put his name forwards, he swore he'd had enough battle to last a lifetime, but you suppose the old dog changed his mind. [X][DESTRUCTION] Johann Mayer is a former Imperial general turned arch-heretic, a monster with a silver tongue and a rotten heart. He was also once a trusted friend of your mother, your godfather, and the man you were named after. You must burn away this stain on your family's honour, but he's proven irritatingly elusive. You've foiled his schemes three or four times now, long before he can become an actual threat, but he always seems to escape - the gifts of his new patrons have made him an inspiring orator and a fearsome foe despite his advanced age, and he's a famously skilled commander. Even with a rabble of mutants, brigands, deserters and peasants he's a serious threat. If he ever had time to knock them into something like a proper army...

[X] Plan Judgement of the Dead

I'm only voting for this plan because it has Morr as the patron god. There's already a really good sigmarite Templar order quest, so I want something different this time. Nobody dislikes the death god that keeps souls safe and kills undead, and he is a especially good choice if we're going to have a vampire nemesis. I also think it makes sense in character considering we have very little patience for politics.

Mmm, also it's a bit too early to be losing prestige for options with the potential to be personally and externally troublesome.

Especially since our men are already starting with lowered morale.

On the note of the tally, time to write my attempt at drawing people voting for my plan or-

Morr is the God of the Dead, Dreams, and Dreamers. This trio of titles reflect what he has underneath his authority and uses against those that would desecrate death. His secondary aspect is the control over illusions and the things-that-are-not-what-they-seemTM. Morr himself guards the souls of the dead from the foul machinations of Chaos and necromancers, while his priests protect their physical remains (aka the corpses). His field in the Dreams/Dreamers also stands to reason that he protects those that sleep from having their soul ripped to shreds by Daemons during their dreams. Morr is also one of the Gods that communicates quite frequently with his devout followers, granting them visions through dreams, although completely cluttered with symbolic iconography. While this doesn't really seem interesting, it becomes quite relevant when you realise that his domain also bridges into that of prophecy, including visions of long term importance.
The Cult of Morr is also not a small affair. Morr is actually one of the most prevalent God amongst the Old World Pantheon, and this is understandable that Warhammer Fantasy is quite ripe with deadly encounters, and that Morr is the unchallenged human God of the Dead. However, simply because Warhammer Fantasy isn't the most pleasant world to live in doesn't make him as important as the fact that he is the one God that each mortal shall visit the realm of, since Death is quite consistent with its realities.
Morr isn't also the most demanding of Gods, as his responsibility lies with the Dead, not the Living. The Cult of Morr generally sees the politicking as affairs they need not bother with, but their obligations to the dead are paramount. If needed, the priests remain deadly areas in order to continue giving the rites to the dead, since the biggest taboo in the eyes of Morr is the desecration of the dead. Necromancers are as such on the highest place in the shit list of Morrians. The Undead are also a big priority for the Priests of Morr, but mostly because an Undead soul does not benefit from the protection of either the Gods of the Living nor of the God of the Dead, and as such must be put back to eternal rest so as to prevent the defilement of the soul.
The Priests of Morr understand that the dead cannot benefit from their God's protection without the proper rites, and otherwise face the dangers of being claimed by Khaine or the Chaos Deities, and those that would wish to escape such a fate often turn out as ghosts or wraiths. So diligent is their vigil that no soul of any mortal follower will ever be abandoned by the Cult of Morr in they are able to fulfil their duties.
Overall, his followers are expected to:
1) Observe all the rites of funeral and wake
2) Oppose necromancers and the Undead wherever and whenever they are encountered
3) Be respectful and considerate of the dead and their families
4) Pay heed to your dreams

Morr's blessings are focused on the aspects of cleansing the Undead even during combat and prophecy.

Following this information, I built and edited my plan to reflect how we can make a powerful Knightly Order while making sure we can benefit from the blessings of Morr.
In terms of the Martial adviser, the beastmaster holds the greatest longevity in uses. Able to train not only traditional horses but also pegasi and demigryphs (if brother dearest is kind) is a great boon that will not diminish.
The Steward was no question. The childhood friend option guarantees us loyalty and he has already gotten the eye of the Imperial Steward, meaning that he has displayed quite impressive economic insight and is likely a good manager.
Similarly, the Witch Hunter would be an odd choice for diplomacy, and would likely instead be more of an intrigue choice, likely why the two base choices are so different. As a Knightly Order of a God that is specifically neutral on the affairs of the living, we should not have to worry about politico-religious interests clashing with our agenda, and as such the experienced diplomat and veteran of courtly intrigue should allow us to approach the courts with few issues, all the while coming with the ability to manage our staff quite well.
Since I'm hoping we go for Morr, getting a Priest of Morr is critical to help us understand the visions we might receive. No amount of healing potential from Shallya would help us if we can't understand that we could deal a crippling blow to a necromancer who might threaten an urban center, and making sure our own dead get the proper funeral rites will be a bleak but uplifting addition to our Order, because they shall know that if (probably more a question of when for a good part) they die on the battlefield, they should not worry that their souls be left to wander due to improper rites. We also don't have to worry about the Warrior-Priest feeding critical information to outside parties, since once again, Morr is neutral on the affairs of the Living, and so is his Priesthood. (Small addendum: if what we get is specifically a Warrior-Priest of Morr, then we might get a Black Guard, which are elite knights in the service of Morr, and especially deadly against the Undead.)
As for Bretonnia, I won't lie and simply state that having a Marquis after us will be pain we won't have to deal with often, but it'll likely mean that he'll have his agents try and get us to fight him quite often. The cost of defeat to him is also really high and likely a game over, but he'll be the least annoying of the three choices.
As for the Destruction vote, the Vampire choice means that we are specifically established to deal with a member of the Midnight Aristocracy, who are undead and necromancers themselves, although it does mean that we'll occasionally have to hunt him down as our vows force us to do so. But this undead is likely going to be quite powerful, since he's capable of slaughtering beastmen and greenskin groups and raise them without too much issue, although it does help that he's not targeting human groups.

As an added bonus, the Cult of Moor doesn't really have obligations apart from dealing with the Undead and the Dead. Meaning that outside of following the decrees of Morr, any assistance we give will be on our own initiative. We could literally be a band of adventurers who roam around and purge every Undead outbreak we come across (and give the dead their rites), and we'd be following our objective.

[X] Plan Imrix

We can have so much fun with the vampire and the Bretonnian all want to marry our PC, maybe even have it work to our advantage.

@Swordomatic, why did Karl try to stop Johanna from becoming the leader of a knightly order? What did he want her to do instead?
He would rather Johanna be a general or champion, because he's worried for her and slightly-concerned about what she'll do with several hundred knights under her command. It also leaves her to political scrutiny and out of his protection, since she's operating on her own instead of under his aegis.

Also Karl just wants to have his sister around. He's grieving too.

[x] Plan Imrix

If Joanna gets a vampiric admirer, it gives me the chance to write in side-stories with enough gothic melodrama to choke a horse. That alone is reason enough for me to vote for this one.

When so many people are voting for their own stuff but your own plan gets no support.
Rip Morr,
I hoped you'd get your place in the limelight...

Morr is also quite a safe political choice. He has no conflicting positions against the other deities, and specifically blesses his followers against the Undead. Moreover, striking against the agents of Morr is generally a suicide option, since Morr is the God who safeguards your soul.
Actually, to come back to this: I still favour a Secular order most of all, although I remain mercenary and Myrmidia seems to have more support, but Morr has a certain appeal. They're completely unfitting for Johanna's temperament, but combined with the creepy vampire stalker, it gives me an amusing image of Johanna waking up one morning and finding another love sonnet left on her windowsill by one of those godsdamned vampire bats that's always following her in the evenings, growling to herself before yelling, "Sigmar's bollocks, I'm dedicating the Order to Morr! FUCK vampires!"

In the celestial realm, Morr looks on at his newly acquired and least-appropriate 'disciple' for several hundred years, then shrugs. Fuck vampires, right?
I'm not quite sold to Sontrulvus, I like the description for Brom, though I understand the benefits and maluses of having an elf. But otherwise this plan has things I like.
Worth noting, while I do like Brom and could possibly be convinced to swap for them, one of the reasons I don't value them quite as much as Sontrulvus is that Brom is a childhood friend of Johanna's, so even if we don't choose him now he can still turn up. Heck, we could make a point of seeking him out.
@Imrix Would you be willing to swap the Ogre for the beastmaster? Think about the demigryphs riders we could have and having a griffon for our personal mount, with that we could even face a Grail Knight in combat.

Also it would be better for morale to have an experience veteran rather than an Ogre and of course I suspect he'd be able to give us more able advice in our campaigns.
I would absolutely not. Dragg, Luis and Sunnhilde are the only options I am not mercenary about, because they are what I am mercenary for. In particular, as Swordo points out we can get a beastmaster later, but I like Dragg above and beyond the talents he offers us, and having Dragg on our side means we wrestle with ogres for our combat training, which sounds like the kind of thing that actually has a credible chance at taking on a Grail Knight and winning all by itself.
Knights of the Iron Forest
Knights of the Iron Arm
Knights of the Iron Gauntlet
Gotta admit, Knights of the Iron Arm does fit Johanna. The girl is swole.

That moment when most votes are just going to the plan on which the planmaker is openly mercenary rather than taking the plans that are established simply because weight of numbers. Rip plans apart from Imrix's, losing our voting base.
