Best In Life - Imperial Knight Order Quest [Warhammer Fantasy]

Uh, point of order, @Swordomatic are the companion options actually advisors? My understanding is that this is basically a personal quest with CK2 mechanics, not a nation-ruling quest.
It has some management aspects, but it's definitely not an empire builder. Alas, this isn't Karl Franz Quest.

Your Companions provide valuable, in some cases specialised services that few others offer. You can probably hire a beastmaster like Siegbert, but you can personally vouch for his ability now, and he's favorably disposed to you due to your mutual service in the Long March. You could probably hire an ogre brawl master at some point, but you can't be sure that he'll be as good-natured as Dragg. So on and so forth. Think of them less as advisors and more as support staff.

Book you have so much of what I want. Is there any way I can convince you to change up Ogre knight for the Beastmaster?

If not, I'll still vote for it but figure I'd try. Also I like the name since it's more generic and not "I'm so awesome I named my order after myself!".

Secular orders are still mired in politics, just between the free cities, landowning nobility, and Elector Counts instead of Wolf-Priests and Witchhunters.

Politics are going to be a part of the quest either way, even religiously. As sister of the Emperor you'll probably get dragged into the Sigmar/Ulric feud anyways because he'll be dragged into it. The choice between Secular and Templar is whether or not you want to have a dog in the religious game of courts, or if you'd rather focus on killing things.

The thing is that if we don't show favours to at least one of the religious courts, we might not get any long term blessings from the Gods, which are very real and have a meaningful impact in Warhammer.

As for my choice of the Grail Knight as our foe--to be honest? It strikes me as the one that we'll have the hardest time winning, but also the Lady playing damage control on Bretonnian piss and vinegar.

Because Grail Knights are hard to kill--and if Johanna manages to win anyway? He's probably not going to die. Just the same, the Grail Knight is superior enough that he's unlikely to kill Johanna in turn. The whole point seems to me the Lady going "Shit, shit, this is a political clusterfuck but I can't just order Bretonnia to cut that shit out--I'll let one of my champions go, give them a chance to recover their face, and prevent the Empire from going into a bloodrage because some chucklefuck with more honor than sense decided to start a bloodfeud by kidnapping or killing the sister of the Emperor for daring to win a fight"
You understand of course that I would like to win? I'd take the others and be fine with the political fallout, but I don't feel like being humiliated by a champion of a country that treats women...troublesomely.

And that's assuming a best case scenario from losing.

Also true! But personal faith and your Order's faith can, and often are, quite separate.

Don't think it in terms of blessings and power levels, because being faithful doesn't guarantee you will benefit either. It's a matter of belief and direction.

[X] Plan Imrix

I'm not quite sold to Sontrulvus, I like the description for Brom, though I understand the benefits and maluses of having an elf. But otherwise this plan has things I like.

A point in the beastmaster's favour would be to capitalise on the Demigryph prides that live in the deepest glens of the Reikwald, should we wish to send off our Inner Circle to tame one for themselves.

Can some one tell me the plan with most votes with
[][BRETONNIA] Especially now that you have a Grail Knight coming after you. Apparently the Lady of the Lake took a personal interest in you defeating their Lord and has sent one of her personal demigod champions to beat you. At least you can trust that you won't die in the process. Maybe if you make a good enough impression they won't put you on a spit and roast you.

Alectai's.

[] Plan: The Order of Knights Warden

@Alectai
Seriously mate, I'd be all for yours if it didn't strike as if you had no intention of winning the Bretonnian issue. Nuisances from killing their nobles are preferable to death or humiliation.

It's not unwinnable at all, it's just hard, and doesn't result in an international incident win or lose.
So, to clarify, you'd be all for suping up as best we can to win it?

And I think that there's gonna be an international incident whatever we pick. The Grail Knights are extreme authorities in Bretonnia when they act on it.

Actually, @Swordomatic
do we have any idea, as far as the Bretonnian things go given they deal with openly announced honor duels, how long we might have before the actual duels?

You can do it whenever, but the longer you take the longer you have to deal with Bretonnia bitching at you.
Interesting...what are the troublesome effects of prolonged bitching, as far as we know?

And would the motivation of a powerful opponent that could genuinely possibly beat her affect Johanna's progress at all?

Warden? That implies that we stay and guard one place, and while you can say that that one place is "the Empire", it's not the best fit.

@Imrix Would you be willing to swap the Ogre for the beastmaster? Think about the demigryphs riders we could have and having a griffon for our personal mount, with that we could even face a Grail Knight in combat.

Also it would be better for morale to have an experience veteran rather than an Ogre and of course I suspect he'd be able to give us more able advice in our campaigns.
