School is, to be honest, pretty boring.
You're close to the end of the school year, so there aren't exactly many tests left. The teachers drone on about their respective subjects, blurring into a sort of unidentifiable mass of sameness. You attempt to follow their lecturing, as a sort of test of your newly risen intelligence, but it's an exercise in futility- The soft droning voices are frustratingly difficult to focus on, so eventually you stop even trying.
After lunch, you search out the rest of your group. Piers and Gordon have already settled in at a picnic table on the play ground, but the rest of the guys haven't shown up yet.
For the most part, your group is the 'Big kids'- You're the biggest, obviously, followed in order by Malcolm, Dennis, Gordon, and Piers. Most of your yearmates had found the lot of you too intimidating, and so you had ended up drifting together naturally while everyone else attempted to avoid catching your attention.
Naturally, you all have the table to yourselves.
You open with what is probably the most important piece of information- "Guys, I got my dad to sign me up for boxing classes."
"Wicked!" Piers chuckles. "I'm gonna have to bug my own dad to do the same, now. Sorry about scarpering so early yesterday, by the way- Some cousin of Mum's died, or something, so her head wasn't quite on right."
"Oh, it's all right," You reassure him, "Nothing else much happened, except I gave Harry a good thumping for being a twerp."
Piers nods, and turn your attention to your other friend. "So anyway, Gordon, your brother is a boxer, right?"
"Yeah, he is." Gordon nods.
You wait patiently for a few moments, before realizing that Gordon isn't going to say anything else. "So if he's a boxer, do you think you can get him to give me some advice?"
"I dunno. Maybe?" Gordon appears deep in thought for a moment. "I'd have to do him a favor after that, though."
You nod. That seems reasonable enough. "Okay, so it's settled. How soon can you get back to me on that advice?"
"Wait, why should I get him to give you advice?"
You glare at Gordon. "Are you thick? I said I was taking boxing classes now, right?"
"Yes," Gordon nods slowly.
"And if I'm taking boxing classes, then getting more advice will help me out, right?"
Gordon seems like he's following so far. "Probably, yeah."
"So you should do it because it will help me."
Gordon furrows his brow for a moment, before nodding. "Okay."
"Good." You turn back to Piers. "If you get your dad to sign you up, I'll pass the tips on to you, too." Piers nods, smirking slightly.
It's at that point that Malcolm and Dennis arrive, settling themselves at unclaimed seats. Malcolm props his feet up on the table, and Dennis pulls several extra cartons of juice and milk out from inside his oversized jacket before handing them off to everyone. You accept yours with a grin.
"Ah, good timing!" You chortle as you open the tiny carton of milk. "I was starting to get thirsty. You need to teach me how to nick things for myself, some time."
Dennis shrugs. "I might be able to. Of course, if you got me caught, it'd make it hard for me to keep on, you know?"
"What? I'm not gonna get you caught!" You glare at Dennis.
"Ease up, Big D," Piers interjects. "He didn't mean nothing by it."
"It's nothing against you of course, mate," Dennis nods in agreement with Piers, "It's just, everyone makes mistakes when they start. I'm good enough to get away with it, but if I get caught teaching you, then they'll know it's me what been doing it this whole time."
"Then we just need to not get caught," You insist.
Dennis laughs. "Fair enough. Look, meet up with me after school some time this week, and I'll teach you a few things, alright?"

[] Yes. "You've got it. I'll decide when later."
[] No. "I'm not sure if I can. I'll let you know."
There are a few moments of silence, before Dennis shrugs. "Suit yourself."
"I will. By the way, Malcolm." As Malcolm looks up, you continue, "About that book you got me a while back..."
"Huh? Oh, the Dungeons and Dragons?" Malcolm perks up a bit. "Did you finally get around to taking a look at it?"
"Sort of... Well, not really, but I had a few questions about it." You take another sip of milk. "How is the game supposed to work, anyway? There's something about... Quests, right?"
"Eh, you can call them quests, or adventures. It doesn't matter which, really." Dennis shrugs. "There's usually just some sort of vague objective that the Game Master sets up, and it's mostly just important that you get to the end goal, not how you get there."
That seems about right, but... "Who's the Game Master?" You ask.
Malcolm shrugs. "Whoever's in charge of the game. Sometimes, people take turns, or sometimes there's just one dedicated guy in charge.
You're mildly perturbed. "Do... All games have a game master?"
"Eh? Well, usually, yeah. Though, I guess there are computer games too, but those don't give you so much choice as you would with a tabletop GM."
Still slightly disturbed for a reason you can't quite put your finger on, you spend the rest of lunch listening to Malcolm chatter on about the game.
Near the end of Recess, he draws to a halt. "It's really a fun game. You should really read the books sometime- all of you," He continues with a look around the table, "And then we can meet up and play a game of it sometime."
[A quest has been created- (Meta)Gaming]
[Play a game of Dungeons and Dragons with your friends after class]
[Rewards- 50xp, increased relationship with participating friends, (???)]
[Failure- none]
[Accept quest Y/N]
[] Yes. "Sure, why not."
[] No. "Maybe another time."
It's at about that time that the bell rings, signalling the end of Recess. You give your friends a wave, before heading back in to class.
The second half of the school day is as boring as the first. Finally, the bell rings, allowing you a chance to escape from boredom.
Once you get home, you almost immediately turn around and head back out. Your bicycle is fast and peddles smoothly up and down the low, sloping roads of Little Whinging fairly easily. Regular houses whiz by, and you find yourself working up a light sweat as you peddle around the town.
By the time you've made it back to the house, you've gained four points of Vitality, and a quick bottle of soda is more then enough to cool you down and get your energy back- Just in time for Mummy to bring you to the Gym where you're supposed to be taking classes.
The other boxers are mostly older teens and young men. You're probably the youngest one here, you realize as the coach gives you a quick once over.
"Trying to trim off a few pounds, eh lad?" He shakes his head at your awkward sputtering. "Nah, it's alright. Boxing is good for that. Here, let me show you how to stand, first..."
An hour passes by in what feels like much less time. By the time the first lesson is over, you've drawn the attention of a couple of the other boxers, and when Mummy comes back, the Coach pulls her aside for a few moments to talk with her. Personally, you're more interested in the five levels of Boxing you've gained, as well as the three points of strength and one point of agility that came with it.
After you get home, you sigh and buckle down to do your homework. There isn't much of it, this near the end of the year, but it's still a drag. At least you manage to drag a single point of Intelligence out from the studying.
At this point, you're fairly tired. You eat dinner almost without tasting it and shortly afterwards collapse into your bed, falling asleep almost as soon as you hit the sheets.
