Why do we have to learn how to steal when we can just jam stuff in our hyperspace-pocket inventory when no one's looking? Zero chance of getting caught even if we do get caught.

I'm pretty sure the QM just meant we only had to pick doing it once at Recess OR After-School. Not both. Unlike the thieving quest which required notification at recess and then actual 'skill' training after school.

Mhhh. I wonder if we get caught at thieving, can we just pop it into the inventory. No evidence, Muhahaha.

Don't really see the point in learning how to pickpocket there are better skills to focus on and the chance of failure for such a small gain doesn't seem worth it.
 
It'd be interesting to get Sleight of Hand to such a level that, via 'explaining the trick' Dudley could excuse open use of magic.


And even use it to actively discredit real magical types, by doing conventionally impossible acts of misdirection that really shouldn't produce results like that.

Hagrid: 'Harry, yer a wizard!'
Dudley: 'Pfft, wizards aren't real.'
Hagrid: 'Oh yeah, well what about this!'
PIGTAIL TIME
Dudley: 'Like that's proof of magic - look, I already did that to you!'
Hagrid: 'Wha-' Pigtail is indeed on his butt 'Yeh can do magic too?'
Dudley: 'What? No, I slipped it on you when you were yelling at dad.'
Hagrid: 'But there's no way... that doesn't....'

Really, what IS magic, if game mechanic assisted sleight of hand isn't?
