BatQuest: A CK2 Batman Quest

Your trip around the world has gone well up to this point. In order to wage war on crime and its root causes, you decided to study war itself. First, a stint in Korea in a civilian field hospital, patching up casualties and alleviating collateral damage, gaining a master class in battlefield medicine in the most dire circumstances imaginable.
…Did you just make a low key M.A.S.H. Reference?

Man, I've recently replayed Infamous, so I was perfectly primed for this chapter. I can practically hear Arkham's Batman speaking in my ear in a long monologue as comic pages flip by showing off various scenes. This is great stuff.

The only thing that saves you is the master strategist's chemical haze; enraged beyond reason by your betrayal and the cavalcade of complex traps he's waded through, he's unprepared for a simple snare that lifts him off his feet and leaves him suspended from a tree, raging impotently as the flames spread down into the jungle.
Bane: "Everything I ever cared about, you turned it to ashes... and made me watch. One day, I will return you the favor."

I can see university students in this universe claiming for decades to come that Bane did nothing wrong and that he is a heroic anti-imperialist or something. Bonus points if he aligns Santa Prisca with the USSR once he takes over

You learned the high-risk art of bomb-making (so that you can defuse them, you tell yourself), as well as esoteric forms of ballistics and chemistry using household materials.
Bomb-throwing bat arc still alive, you love to see it

It was there, in the unlikeliest of places, where you first fell in love, embarking on a whirlwind affair with a young photojournalist embedded with the rebels.
Etran ending the "no pairing for Batsy" cause

In practice, he conducted a brutal symphony of violence, in accordance with principles that were almost scientific.

The leader of the rescuers is the famous (or infamous) Bane, a towering man in a black mask who fights with a kind of clinical brutality that tells you immediately how Bird learned to fight.

In the first month, there were some dissenting grumbles; when you hand-delivered an entire patrol of government troops, all hanging from the trees by their ankles, the doubters were silenced. The sight of the soldiers suspended upside-down earned you the respect of the rebels, and your nom de guerre: the Bat.
Love this origin story of how our superhero name came to be.

His dream was simple: expel the foreign companies and their lackeys so that Santa Priscans could benefit from their island's wealth themselves.
Surely the horrors of warfare against imperial power-backed foes would not nudge him into resorting to methods that'll ruin his cause! (clueless)

As you would later learn, you had replicated the formula for the chemical known as Venom, for which Bane himself had served as one of the initial test subjects
There it is.

I hope we can replicate this avoidance of literally back-breaking combat with our old friend, thank you

he is a heroic anti-imperialist or something.
He was before Venom, and isn't that tragic 😔

Well, this was amazing. I now am certain that I didn't regret choosing this path.

Bane is going to be an excellent antagonist to our Batman.

Damn, poor Bruce. He went through some pretty hellish ups and downs. As much as I disliked this option it made for an interesting story. I do like that our (first?) batman isn't some super martial artist, though. He's a trickster, somebody who really avoids combat if he can help it by laying down traps and dismantling the people who pose the biggest threats first. I like it.

I mean. Is it actually possible for us to cure Bane of the effects of Venom? It would certainly serve as a fitting end to our conflict with him. Bruce finally being able to save an old friend from his past.

It may be! Who knows? But even if he's cured of the venom, I doubt he'd be too happy to see Bruce after what he's done. And that's just right now, I imagine any future clashes might sour them even more on each other. Probably something that's going to have to be worked towards, if its possible at all.

Or he might actually thank Bruce for stopping him. Since what he was doing was the exact opposite of what he originally wanted to accomplish. Remember Bane was more of a antihero before Venom than an insane villain.

Maybe, maybe! It'd be interesting to try and find out. Though I suspect that's decently far into the future, and we'd also have to avoid getting Bruce's back snapped like a dry twig first.

I could absolutely see Bruce forcing Bane through detox, fueled by a mix of altruism and enmity.

"Helping you is worth it, Bane. The fact that it makes you miserable is just a bonus."
