BatQuest: A CK2 Batman Quest

[X] [MOTTO] "The only way to have a friend is to be one."
[X] [VOYAGE] Off the map

My counter-weight for "Bruce is, like, actually sociable" is "Bruce goes to Weird Places and learns Weird Things". I feel like the world-wide journey where he basically disappears for a few years is pretty core to Batman.

If "Fortune favors the bold" and Off the Map win, like they currently are projected to do, well, this may have a particularly interesting outcome. Bruce's Martial will rise to 7. But what does that mean, in terms of quantification? Well, Alfred, who as a reminder, has the Tough Soldier trait as well as explicit "combat and bodyguard training", only has Martial 9.

Aside from what that means about the scale? Well, given the higher Diplomacy, Intrigue, Stewardship, and Learning, I think this version of Batman is fittingly enough, going to be more along the lines of Zorro. Zorro is a skilled swordsman, but he's not capable of fighting entire gangs the way canon Batman does, and instead relies much more heavily on stealth, trickery, and just plain running away against larger groups.

Personally I think, story wise, dropping off the map for a few years then having a dramatic return is the most interesting. We get to see what else is happening in this take on DC, and after the return how things have changed....well. I was gonna say for better or worse, but this is Gotham. It'll probably be for the worse.

I would absolutely read a fanfic about Content Batman but not what I wanted out of this quest. I did not care a lot about the beeg number in this case but I wanted to make sure Bruce got more adventurous.

Yeah.

I'll admit, I paid less attention to the numbers each option might give to a stat and more to the potential opportunities for an interesting story each option presented. Not disagreeing with those who like to play around with stats and the like. I simply prefer to pursue what I view as the most interesting story beat at the time. Speaking of which, I'm looking forward to seeing how Gotham treats Edward Nashton down the like. I'm sure such a thorough man in the financial sector will be well received in a mob city. And that his reaction will be sane and well proportioned.

I pictured it less as "I think the world is great" and more he's like, The Last Good Family Man In Gotham, determined to make things as good for everyone else as they are for him and anchored in invincible comfort with himself and his loves.

Interesting quest so far. Have to say I'm really looking forward to a mid 20th century batman.

Bit disappointed off the map won. It could have been interesting to get a metropolis university education alongside Lex Luthor or a california one with Oliver Queen. Conductive to our anti poverty agenda too.

I'd like to point out that there were two no kill options. Merciful and Just. As one of my favorite batman Quotes goes "I won't kill you... but I don't have to save you."
