Attempting to Fulfil The Plan: ISOT Edition

You have been trying to spread uptime crops/farming techniques/ect since even before the Wanax got overthrown, you've been limited because you started with only a small amount of seeds from uptime cultivars of things like wheat and barely while people don't have much experience with corn, potatoes, ect. but food production has already increased significantly compared to before the Event. More food (and other agricultural products) would still be extremely useful, but even with the higher taxes there isn't a significant chance of famine.
I mean my concern wasn't famine so much as the sooner we get people growing potatoes, that will mean the average farmer has to grow less to sustain themselves which might free up some labor, generally improve downtimer diet and hopefully increase population growth.

yeah, the sooner we just plain have stuff the better. we're starting from a situation where metal is still the new hotness, we need to speed-run an agrarian economy just so we can free up enough labor to sustain factories. the upside to being so far back is that labor is actually cheaper than materials for the most part, most are willing to work for three meals a day because, hell, that's more than they usually make for themselves, and not having money as a concept means we just have to make a classless and stateless society!

also i'm looking forward to downtimer communists comin' in with zealous convert energy

Hmm. @garphield can you give word on whether building the port facilities is likely to require grabbing some labor from the rurals? That'll probably answer whether or not I do sewage or ports in infra with the non-canal dice.

Both of them are likely going to use some rural labor for hauling/digging/ect if it's available, but don't need it. Ports are in several cities while sewers are just in Mycenae so ports can make better use of rural labor, but to be honest it doesn't matter a ton for either of these projects. Trying to build a bunch of dams during planting or harvesting would run into issues though.

Yeah, I've been wondering what would be best to put that last free die on.

On another note, checking important timeline events. Butterflies will be butterflies of course, but it's something to keep in mind:

-June 12th, 10 A.E.: The United States of America (Athens) undergoes a massive crisis when Brenda's forge explodes (Brenda being the gunsmith of New Arizona.) This kills not only Brenda, but also much of the leadership of Athens and the USA (Athens), including the designated heir and several other nobles.
-October, 10 A.E.: The USA (Athens) is renamed the State of New Arizona, after receiving immigrants (who have a lot of very needed weapons) from the First State of New Arizona, a failed state back in Anatolia. New laws include things like 95% of the downtimer population being made into Helots.
-12 A.E.: New Arizona launches an invasion of the Popular Republic of Mycenae (hey, that's us.)

Now, butterflies mean the invasion doesn't necessarily have to happen at the same time, but it's something to keep in mind.

Right in that case then...

Unless anyone has a better suggestion for Bureaucracy. And whether Machine Tools should be swapped for Glassworks or a 2nd die on one of the two other options.

Bureaucracy is fine for now I think, I believe we should be more adventurous once we've built up some political goodwill. And I think Machine tools is much more important than Glassworks. Just my opinion, I think you have a solid plan.

Okay, a quick check says that the 3 dice on Crops and Livestock Distribution should have around a 79.6% chance of completion (assuming it counts for our MC's +10 per-die bonus to things with Animal Husbandry.) Do we want to pump that higher (would require me taking the Free Die away from Hand Tools), or is that good enough?

Additionally, looking at our net -13 per die penalty to things that aren't animal husbandry or medicine, I'm wondering whether I should focus on fewer projects. Like, taking from Machine Tools to better guarantee either coal or iron actually finishes.

that's good enough for the resources put in. the half chance of completing hand tools is better than the marginal change in chance for the distribution. if we're unlucky enough to miss it it's unfortunate but not the end of the world. glass is a big luxury good and a useful material in the bronze age, but lathes and trip hammers are tools to make tools, and we need those

Yeah I honestly consider the trip hammers and lathes about as important as looking for coal.

Edit: Also consider a turn seems to be about 4 months, getting half now still means there's a good chance those things will be up and running by Fall.

I like the plan. It's okay if things don't finish right away, it's not worse than wasting dice.

A part of me wants to start crossbow production, to be honest. It doesn't have a higher cost and we can always slow roll the thing to completion.

Fortification Improvements sounds like a thing that's gonna require a lot of labor requisition compared to the other military options, so I think we want that done or mostly done before planting season starts.
[]Fortification Improvements: While a complete restructuring of the walls of cities like Mycenae and Tiryns is far too expensive to consider right now, we can at least improve them somewhat. Gates will be strengthened, and angular bastions made of brick and rammed earth can reduce the number of dead zones by the walls. (5 Resources per dice (0/200))
Crossbow production is one of the things that's next on the list for me though.
