Ascensions and Transgressions: the Tales of Keris Dulmeadokht (Exalted game)

On the other hand, for your average DB or Solar party, yes, she's the hand of Kubo in BS retcons and ass pulls.
Plus Keris is infuratingly skilled at and willing to resort to running away, so even when (if) the heroes manage to defeat her, she'll always escape and set up some other scheme. :3

Plus Keris is infuriatingly skilled at and willing to resort to running away, so even when (if) the heroes manage to defeat her, she'll always escape and set up some other scheme. :3

"Willing to resort to running away" may be underselling it a bit. More like running away is her go-to response to trouble (points to "Cowardice keeps me safe" intimacy). Honestly I can't see Keris ever taking a fight she's not guaranteed to win unless there's a significant emotional factor in consideration (one or more of her children being in trouble, ect).

Yeah, I was meaning for the actual magistrate. If this were his story then the reveal that he got conned into killing loyal Realm subjects and letting the actual cultists go free would be a massive "Oh bullshit!" moment from the fans.
To be fair to the Magistrate, the frame job Keris did means it's likely the sailors would soon become a Yozi Cult anyway...

Due to all the mental compulsions, toxins and derangement, etc etc... I mean, as long as they didn't get too stressed and hulk out.

Session 132
Part 132 brings strategic play! Strategic play, and the dangers of leaving demon lord children to their own devices while you rush off to do the bidding of an Unquestionable, especially when said demon lord children are utter brats who are happy to choose their own goals in the absence of you doing it for them. On the plus side, there's some more Zanyira - I'm really beginning to like her - and we get some nice useful progress made towards Little River entrenching herself in the local economy.

Extras! Quite a few this time, because you get to see the backstage strategic action stuff:
EarthScorpion: Session 187 pre-session Gantt chart planning for the Season of Fire.
EarthScorpion: So Keris has one minor action in fire committed. And she didn't give orders for her kiddies, so they had an entire minor action to themselves with no veto from Keris. Because... uh, they don't listen to her Gales and the Gale is dominated by their Urge anyway and doesn't have the full emotional response of Keris.
EarthScorpion: So I'm going to declare their first actions of some level in Fire, and the Gale only gets Keris's mundane pool to try to talk them out of it if she wants to veto.
EarthScorpion: Haneyl is spending her first minor action on a Reaction + Bureaucracy roll to "find and hire a skilled mortal subordinate who can keep her affairs in Saata ticking along".
Aleph: KerisGale is A-okay fine with this as long as the mortal is trustable, and will merely remind Haneyl to self-seed them so they can't betray her and please not poach from the Hui Cha.
EarthScorpion: 5 successes - she hires a priestess-graduate of one of the accountancy colleges, and yes, Self-Seeds them and gets them used to doing what she says so she develops that Intimacy of devotion to Haneyl's needs
Aleph: Yay!
EarthScorpion: Keris doesn't get a say in Eko's choice, but she's going to try to devote a whole minor action to get silly Sasi to understand how to make demons - assisting Sasi's own attempts.
Aleph: Keris would be very impressed and encouraging about that, and also both proud and rather surprised that she is capable of doing so.
EarthScorpion: Keris again doesn't get a say, but Calesco is using Per + Investigation to try to investigate local divine courts, aided by Molian.
Aleph: Awesome. And, uh. Faintly worrying for the divine courts.
EarthScorpion: Probably the most concerningly for Keris, Vali & Zanara have been left in close proximity and Zanara has talked Vali into helping the "prettiness" of the estate. They therefore have gone on a redecorating spree in parts of the mansion, trying to maximise the aesthetic value of the interior (and also committing a certain number of crimes in Saata since Keris didn't leave them money to get certain things they want.
Vali: Phys + Occult heavy work.
Zanara: Reaction + Politics criminality (largely fraud and the like).
Aleph: ... crap.
Aleph: Hmm. Um... okay. Keris Gale is... going to swear a lot at Keris Prime, allow the criminality on the condition that Zanara does it all in disguises and faces that won't link back to Little River or Cinnamon, and save her efforts for trying to convince Vali and Zanara to limit their remodelling to the occupied-by-her-family wing that none of the local workers see the interior of and the underground areas that they're still clearing out and refurbishing.
EarthScorpion: Per + Pres to try to talk them out of it.
Aleph: Luckily Keris has a good base pool for this, and can play off the facts that the family wing is the only one they see anyway and focus on just shifting where they do it rather than trying to stop them. 4+5+3 Eternal Matriarch Style+2 stunt=14. 4 successes. Dammit KerisGale.
EarthScorpion: They just ignore her.
Aleph: goddammit
EarthScorpion: Vali gets... ha ha, a hilarious 10 successes on 12 dice pool, so he gets everything he can done.
EarthScorpion: While Zanara gets 8 successes, and soundly scams several merchant princes and sets them blaming each other for the forged promissory notes.
Aleph: ... yeah, that's fine. Oh, did they liaise with Haneyl to let her know about it?
Aleph: She might be able to earn a profit from it~
EarthScorpion: Of course not. She might have told them no, or tried to get them to not buy so much nacre.
Aleph: oh dear
Aleph: Okay, so is that everyone?
EarthScorpion: Yep
EarthScorpion: Everyone else is either doing minor things, or is an asset used by others (like how Elly and Rounen are for Haneyl).
Aleph: Awesome.

...

[second strategic action]
EarthScorpion: So, Keris is going to be pressured by Jade Fox into taking two actions, both minor, into first finding a place to set up her silverworks, and then getting the building established and recognised in Saatan law.
EarthScorpion: Everyone has 2 minor or 1 major before Callibration
Aleph: Hmm. Okay. Hmm. Keris... may well go along with that, honestly. Hmm. Put that as conditional for the moment.
Aleph: The others...
EarthScorpion: Zanara is in a big sulk, and is acting up. Keris has to make a choice of to handle this, or she can put them in time out to calm down in her soul.
Aleph: Hmm. So my thought for Zanara was to mollify them - and also occupy them - by trying to get them and Piu enrolled in a Saatan dance temple-college. Both Zana and Nara know from Flowering the Fairer Face that showing obvious demonic stuff in a temple-school will get them kicked out, given Saata's strong thing against demonology, so they won't act up or reveal things if they're at a temple-college for the arts.
EarthScorpion: Per + Pres to try to offer it up to them as an "I'm sorry" present, rather than a "sending them away from her attention" punishment.
Aleph: She will demand demonstrations of what they've learned at minimum every week, and preferably every day or so, which should both convince them that it's an "I'm sorry" present where she wants to pay attention to them learning new things, establish Little River as a patron of the arts who enjoys her ward's talent for dance, and also give Keris some honest enjoyment because she does love watching Zanara dance.
Aleph: 4+5+3 Eternal Matriarch+2 stunt+9 Kimmy ExD {impossibly high standards, demands payment, patronage and kindness}=23. 10 sux.
EarthScorpion: Yeah, Zanara is mollified enough - plus, Zana gets to keep Piu as her fangirl and constant observer, which works as a bribe.
EarthScorpion: So that's marked out as a major block for Zanara
EarthScorpion: Calesco's investigation is a major action, so she only has a minor left, and she's going to block out relaxation unless Keris wants to give her any other orders.
Aleph: "Relax and instruct the islanders on the finer points of beekeeping" is just fine, yeah.
Aleph: I am inclined to ask Vali to help Ali set up a super-mega-awesome-cool forge and then see if he wants to go back to Shuu Mua with Xasan and, specifically this time, look for some more Shogunate ruins with cool dragon stuff on them.
EarthScorpion: Hmm. That's probably a major, to have the kind of search to find something meaningful. And Xasan's going to take a lot of persuasion to go this year, rather than in the new year once things cool down a bit and after callibration gets rid of bad spirits.
Aleph: Ah, true. Hmm. Fair enough. Forge, then, and... hmm. I might ask if he wants to go back to the Spires (which could result in a femkerub maturation).
Aleph: He's been out in Creation for a while, and is probably missing home.
EarthScorpion: If given a choice, Vali'll probably take one doing family stuff, then head home to relax and vent some of the energy he's got built up being well behaved.
Aleph: Yeah. So that's him. Haneyl undoubtedly has her own plans, but, mm, Keris will ask her to do some in-depth research into Pretty Peacock's business and resources and family situation and so on. With the not-so-subtle hint that should Pretty Peacock suffer a terrible accident, Haneyl might wind up in control of some of her assets if they know enough about them.
EarthScorpion: Haneyl actually agrees to that, but then actually decides to take a month off back in her soul to check up on things back home - knowing she can get out again in Hell for Calibration.
Aleph: Yeah, that's fair.
EarthScorpion: It's one of the reasons she got someone to manage things - she doesn't want to admit it, but she's been away from home for nearly a year and she just wants to be home for a bit.
EarthScorpion: She's still littler in some ways than she wants to let on :p
Aleph: D'awww.
Aleph: Hmm. Keris will, however, see if Rathan is amenable to being summoned and put in charge of the Second Sister operation along with some femkeruby.
EarthScorpion: He is, yes. He'll take both Mele and Oula with him, too, so we can show that on screen. And that's a major.
Aleph: Excellent. Eko is... being Eko. And may well find herself banished back to the domain before Calibration for giving Sasi a headache, because I'm honestly surprised she lasted two months.
EarthScorpion: Yes, that's... probably true. Heh. Everyone's showing up back home before the end of the year. Which leaves Keris.
Aleph: Hmm. I kind of want to spend a major action beating my estate back into shape. But as long as Vali takes down the demon icons during his family time before going back, I'll leave it under its slow improvement with - I assume - Little Bird dealing with things? And set up my silversmithy like a good girl.
EarthScorpion: Yeah, you gave Vali the time in which to do that
Aleph: Awesome.
Aleph: Man, Little River's receiving hall is gonna be badass.

...

Aleph: Hmm. Ali spent his life around the waterwheel system, he has the sketches Keris took of it while she was there, and now he's not dealing with a sick wife or the fucking Vakotans.
Is it within his ability to reconstruct it?
Aleph: Because if he could do that, it would be a big help to Keris as far as future replication on Shuu Mua went.
EarthScorpion: It'd be a challenge, certainly, but waterwheels aren't unheard of in the region so there are things to work from. It'd be a big project for him, but he could at least try
Aleph: Sweet

...

Aleph: Hee. I really like Ba-le and Little River's dynamic.
EarthScorpion: Sigh. Little River is playing Sakura, isn't she?
Aleph: I mean, I was thinking Tomo and Misuzu.
EarthScorpion: :V
Aleph: Sakura doesn't have the subtle edge of hidden malice. Or the Black Lagoon psycho eyes, or a reputation for how if you're _too_ crude in her presence she will decapitate you and then make some calm comment about your manners being atrocious.
Aleph: But yeah, the contrast of the well-mannered Misuzu one who's very formal and well-spoken vs the raucous Tomo one who's crude and vulgar.
Aleph: It pleases me~

...

EarthScorpion: OK, so I didn't get everything done I wanted, but oh well, we'll handle the ball next game.
EarthScorpion: Unless you wanted to get anything else done?
Aleph: Nah, that's good. And I was starting to flag anyway.
EarthScorpion: So, how was that session? Any comments on how it went, the pacing, etc?
Aleph: It was good. I think we got a bit hung up on Zany, but I loved how her bit resolved, and I'm increasingly growing fond of Ba-le. : D
EarthScorpion: You like people who can play off you.
EarthScorpion: God, Ba-le let near Inks.
Aleph: hee~
EarthScorpion: And yeah, the Gantt stuff took longer than expected. I really do think Discord seems to go slower than Skype for no immediately obvious reason.
EarthScorpion: Is it just worse at grabbing attention when a new post occurs? I dunno.
Aleph: Dunno.
EarthScorpion: The Vali-Zanara stuff at the start was hilarious to come up with.
Aleph: lol
Aleph: I do really like that dragon sculpture.
EarthScorpion: Hee.
Aleph: Is it, you know, a 3D thing around the edge of the room, or a sculpture in the sense of a relief sculpture on the walls? I was assuming the latter.
EarthScorpion: I was thinking of it as a 3D thing, made up of bits of Shogunate dragons that Vali pulled off different buildings and sculpted into one thing. Showing that Malfean Craft.
Aleph: That also works. : 3
EarthScorpion: ... heh. I think that's the first chapter in ages with almost nothing from the babies.

...

EarthScorpion: So, we've seen Mele.
Aleph: Hee. Yes. I like him. And yeah, this works nicely as, heh, a way for Rathan to get in contact with the orcamen.
EarthScorpion: He's a shameless flirt, a flatterer, and kind of an asshole under it. And, um, Oula is keeping her "I don't like any other firstborn breeds" streak going.
Aleph: Kek : D
Aleph: ... also, now now. She can tolerate Elly, sometimes.
EarthScorpion: And yes, it's now a game to make sure all the firstborns have different personalities.
EarthScorpion: Oula is... Oula is ItRG!Morgan, let's be honest here. Or, rather, Morgan is Oula.
Aleph: Sigh. Yeah, she really kind of is.
EarthScorpion: She's a bitchy, hard-working, clever girl who's good at putting her good face forwards to authority. Rounen is an uptight, fussy pretty boy. Mele is a laid back playboy. Elly looks from a distance like she's the quiet girl. Saji is the ditzy one.
Aleph: Ditzy diva one
EarthScorpion: And Vela is the strict, rules-enforcing moral absolutist
Aleph: : D
EarthScorpion: Sigh. Zanara likes a lot of their neighbouring siblings' keruby. They like Oula for her artistry and tattoos, they like Saji for being an artistic diva, they like Rounen as a patsy, they'll probably like Mele...
Aleph: poor rounen
EarthScorpion: Rounen is not well equipped to handle Zanara
Aleph: he is not, no
EarthScorpion: Heh. Mele was trying to suck up to Aleph. But was it better than sating that side of things than Elly?
Aleph: Not so much, heh. Mostly because he wasn't, hmm...
Aleph: He was trying to get something out of it.
Aleph: While to Elly it was just The Way The World Worked.

...

EarthScorpion: But yeah, the fail-forwards thing of strategic actions means that after you failed to find a place on your own, one of your contacts offered you a place that doesn't meet all your needs (it's not in a good area, and you can't buy it outright, just lease it) which means you're stuck in a relationship of sorts with her.
Aleph: Hee. And also grr *cracks knuckles*
EarthScorpion: Grr?
Aleph: Drowning is Definitely On The Table for whoever did that when I find them.
Aleph: Hmm. Thing is, either it was:
a) someone who knew I was looking for a property for a silversmithy before I even started,
b) someone who was watching me closely enough to notice very soon after I started looking, or
c) someone who has enough of a grudge against me that they set up a standing action to meddle in my affairs to purchase any land
Aleph: Hmm. One of the other three Hui Cha lords, maybe? Feeling snubbed? Or Pretty Peacock, though, hmm, I don't think I've poked her directly yet.
EarthScorpion: Possibly. Or someone who saw this newcomer go and buy an expensive estate and wants to try to track down where your money is coming from by getting you to play your cards. Little River has drawn attention to herself.
Aleph: Ah, damn. I hadn't thought of that. A feint to make me show my hand.
Aleph: Shit. That widens the possibilities a lot.
Aleph: Heh. Luckily, they're not going to get much out of this - the money trail will just point back to Jade Fox's investment.
EarthScorpion: Yep. One of the advantages of getting hooked into society, rather than just mysteriously making money appear. And the nice thing about that is he, as a triad boss, has people he pays to obfuscate his funding.

Very fun update but I have to say I thought that some of the stuff with
Zanyira
was repeating a little. It was a lot of fun but it seemed like it was covered last chapter. As for the house remodeling at this point I'm wondering if the real dragon bloods will notice that she's just a bit to impressive to be a real dragon blooded after all.

Zany is wonderful. It's nice to see her have a chance to get out and do things now that she's healthy. I'm also looking forward to Ali having a forge again. You do such interesting things with how smiths are perceived in Creation.

I'm definitely looking forward to Calibration, when we can see what Calesco, Lilinu, and Eko have been up to.

Is there a write up or summary of the new Rathan deva? Ivory skinned shipbuilders sounds interesting.

So how much longer before Keris tries to work out how to make a Gale that can fake being a Dragonblooded? Because she's going to hit a point with the Little River identity where it can't reasonably just vanish from Saata or its environs for extended periods of time.

Also I can't wait for Haneyl to discover proper chocolate. Unless she already has, in which case there are probably already cacao trees in the swamps. Maybe vanilla orchids too.

It's almost a shame Keris will presumably need to be back in Hell for Calibration, because that means there's no chance of her introducing Eko to the rest of her family.

Session 133
Part 133 is a bit late going up because I got sick, bleh. But it's up now! Kind of a disjointed session; mostly just tying up leftover plot threads from the end of the year before going off to the Althing. Note that this isn't the end of the arc; Calibration will be a single session rather than the mini-arcs it's had before, and then Keris will be back at work taking over the triads.

Also also, behold! A new doc for Keris's assets. This should get some stuff out of the bottom of her character sheet, and also provide a helpful aid for keeping track of all her different identities and aliases.

Extras!
Aleph: Hmm
Aleph: Just so I remember, Keris's estate - Silver Lotus - is in five parts; a central complex with four wing-clusters extending out from it in more or less the cardinal directions. Most of it's in disrepair, so it's just the central part that he had in good nick - and even that needs redoing because he took a lot with them.
Aleph: That means Keris is hovering a little under 20% completion on her "home-base".
Aleph: And can buy extra wings in the style of X-COM expanding their HQ. : P
EarthScorpion: : D
Aleph: And yeah, I think one of the other features I'm going to try to include in Silver Lotus is the Map Room as a master-level "maps" workshop.
Aleph: So what Keris is aiming for is to have that massive Anarchy-table, like this dominating the centre of the room and giving an overview of the whole Southwest, and then racks of shelves labelled by place holding more detailed, closer, higher scale maps.
Aleph: As per 2e; building a master-level workshop is on the order of a Res 4 expense and the process of building one tends to draw attention as you collect massive amounts of resources, tools and/or information. They also cost Res 3 to maintain which, heh, in this case is staying up-to-date on what fleets are where.
EarthScorpion: luiz has one of them
Aleph: Building that will definitely get Little River considerably favour from the blue sea masters (who will want to pop round and consult it before making any major naval moves).
Aleph: Sigh. Water Aspects have Travel favoured. So it does suit her as a project. : D
EarthScorpion: Yes but Keris is awful and knows nothing. : p
Aleph: No, but it's very much a Travel-focused Project. And it makes for a great setpiece.
Aleph: (when she finds out about Krastion she'll make a little cutout so that you can lift up the island of Krastion and see the carved magma-centipede underneath it)
Aleph: I figure that if it's like an XCOM base, I can just put a paragraph for the problems each wing of Silver Lotus has and a cost for fixing them up. : 3
EarthScorpion: It's not so much a question of just resources, but also of Scarcity. So really define more what you need for each one.
Aleph: ... true, yes.
Aleph: Okay, take a look at the link
EarthScorpion: Neat!
Aleph: Hee. You like it when I do things like this. ^_^

...

EarthScorpion: Ha!
Calesco: "I like my men like I like my coffee."
Haneyl: "You don't like coffee."
Calesco: "Yes."
Aleph: Lol. : P
EarthScorpion: Followed by:
Haneyl: "I like my men like I like my coff-"
Calesco: "We both know you'd cram anything you find in your mouth."
Haneyl: "Ruin the whole joke, why don't you?"

...

EarthScorpion: So, uh
EarthScorpion: Alif
EarthScorpion: I've just seen Morathi's redesign for Warhammer.
EarthScorpion: She's the queen mother of the king of the Dark Elves, Malekith, and a corrupting influence who's basically personally responsible for the fracturing of the whole elven empire as she did everything she could to put her son on the throne and also consorts with demons and practices black magic.
EarthScorpion: Just look at her.
EarthScorpion: Look at that hair, those ornamental wings, the fact that she's a vicious demon-summoning sorceress who fights with a spear.
EarthScorpion: but wait
EarthScorpion: there's more
EarthScorpion: That's not actually her true form. That's just her holding back.
EarthScorpion: Because her real form is this.
Aleph: ...
Aleph: ... ... ...
Aleph: ... they stole my character!
EarthScorpion: : D
EarthScorpion: (Her spear is called Heartrender, incidentally.)

...

EarthScorpion: Compare and contrast - keruby vs faeries
Aleph: ...
Aleph: i hate you a little bit now
Aleph: goddammit "equal distribution of sweets" "you sound like a commie"
Aleph: fuckin' szels
EarthScorpion: the reds vs the whites
EarthScorpion: it's the szel civil war
Aleph: the szelvel war, one mimes, and they all break out into giggles
Aleph: god, this really is someone being put on an island with a bunch of child-keruby
Aleph: who all accept her as queen for lack of a leader among themselves
Aleph: goddammit one of the sziroms discovered narcotics
Aleph: yup, that ended predictably

...

EarthScorpion: Oh Salina.
EarthScorpion: She's kind of really terrifying when you look at how she does things.
Aleph: yyyyup
Aleph: ...
Aleph: god
Aleph: Keris really is her student, isn't she?
Aleph: What she did with Ney, that's what Salina did with her.
Aleph: Oh, Keris. Why are you such a good student to all three of your mentors?
EarthScorpion: She looked at Keris, realised that Keris isn't someone who can be bribed to betray her loved ones, and went "you're not betraying her, you're doing it for her own good".
Aleph: Hee. : D
Aleph: I do love how these emergent things crop up. The way that Keris really is a perfect student for each of her mentors, who actually takes after them in pretty major ways.
EarthScorpion: ... it's a good thing Zana doesn't know about this
EarthScorpion: Or she'd point out that it happened because Keris fucked Sasi's brains out, and Salina took over the mindless shell.
EarthScorpion: Also, if Keris wants, she can get Lineage 1 (Salinian School) from being personally instructed by That Bitch. :V
Aleph: mwaa haa~

...

EarthScorpion: Oh, Haneyl. The way the Haneyl-Keris relationship has emerged is actually rather sweet.
EarthScorpion: Keris really did a good job with her. ^_^
Aleph: She's a big girl but she still loves her mama.
EarthScorpion: Her greed has grown up into a beautiful, well-mannered, smart young woman who happens to be greedy and vice-driven, but in mostly human ways.
Aleph: A very good job.

...

<at the party>
Aleph: aww~
Aleph: You gave me a demon-summoning sorcerer who's incredibly proud of the skills he's using to blatantly break Saatan law.
Aleph: And who already envies me so I can blackmail him with that knowledge freely and with no worry~
Aleph: You give the best presents. ^_^
EarthScorpion: How does Keris feel about this Bad Immaculate, especially since the last abbot she saw was the abbess on Triumphant Air? : p
Aleph: She just got a whiff of Sidereal essence, so she is currently confused, suspicious and on-guard.
Aleph: She, heh
Aleph: Doesn't actually think it's linked to Actual Sidereals.
Aleph: Because Keris still doesn't actually know that they're behind the Immaculate Faith, or much about them at all, really.
EarthScorpion: : D
Aleph: So she's mostly confused as to how the fuck he has Maidens essence and worried that he has direct ties to Heaven as the child of some god who works under Mercury. Who, after all, does have a major temple here. : V
Aleph: ... god, roleplaying Keris's ignorance and the ways she's just Wrong about the ways the world canonically works as described in the sourcebooks is so much fun. I don't get people who metagame their characters knowing the Real Way Things Work As Set Down In The Sourcebooks.
EarthScorpion: : D
EarthScorpion: Plus, you never know if I've just gone and changed things
Aleph: ... fuck!
Aleph: I should've given Zany my Journeys brush before she left!
Aleph: I'd have a whole fucking pot of Journey paint by now!
EarthScorpion: poor kiss
Aleph: An eight-month trip by a peasant woman who'd never left her village before! Across the whole world!
EarthScorpion: You should give her your Secrets one while she learns and becomes the first person in Keris's family to go to university.
Aleph: YES
Aleph: YES I SHOULD
Aleph: Okay, hmm. Is there anything else you want to have in the festival, or can I cut to her going home in a morose sort of mood with memories of Nexus heavy on her mind to her still-screaming children?
EarthScorpion: Yes, there's just one more thing to cover at the party.
Aleph: Ohhhh shit.
EarthScorpion: Say hi to the balalaika. : V
Aleph: : D

...

EarthScorpion: So, heh, that went on. How was it? Thoughts et al?
Aleph: It was good, yes~
Aleph: Hee. Sinasana Medala is fun.
EarthScorpion: : V
Aleph: And Andu will be useful, once corrupted.
EarthScorpion: If Keris is still Revvy, she's Balalaika.
EarthScorpion: Also, I got to get the Abbot in : D
Aleph: : D
Aleph: God, I do love Keris's misinterpretation of him.
Aleph: It's juuuuuust close enough that she'll act in more or less the right way.
Aleph: But also hilariously wrong enough that she won't and can't metagame it.
EarthScorpion: I do wonder how much Keris's unspoken Immaculate-ness is affected by him being such a bad monk.
Aleph: heh
Aleph: hmm
Aleph: well
Aleph: ... amusingly, it... actually probably makes her better-inclined to him at a very subtle level?
Aleph: Because, bluntly, Keris is a bad Immaculate - even accounting for how she's flipped it into reverse - and a lot of the monks she picked stuff up from in Nexus weren't very good Immaculates either.
EarthScorpion: Not as bad as him : D
Aleph: well, no
EarthScorpion: He is quite possibly a worse immaculate than Keris.
Aleph: That would be very difficult, honestly.
Aleph: Hmm. Actually...
Aleph: ... you know, the depressing thing is, in certain areas you might be right there.
EarthScorpion: ikr

...

Aleph: Oh, hey. From the Windswift writeup: "The course here is highly academic, although there is a mandatory year of travel for all graduates who must travel wide making use of the skills they were taught, and bring back all they learn."
Keris: "ZANY."
Zanyira: "... yes?"
Keris: "YOU ARE TAKING THIS WITH YOU."
Zanyira: "... a paintbrush?"
Keris: "YES. DON'T ASK, JUST TAKE."
EarthScorpion: Oh Keris. Stop using your in fate relatives as a source of magical paint.

...

EarthScorpion: Hmm. So.
EarthScorpion: If Keris wants, she can get Lineage 1 (Salinian). It means she's essentially accepted Salinian principles into her sorcery. And Salina has provided her with a heavily annotated text of the Salinian template of Sanctum of the Sorcerer. It isn't actually the spell directly, but with a major action she can build a variant out of it that's in line with Salinian principles.
Aleph: yassss~
Aleph: to both
Aleph: ^_^
EarthScorpion: Hilariously, the fact that she has a Salinian lineage means that suddenly a lot of "normal" spells have opened up to her.
Aleph: Hmm? Ah. Hah. Yes, things based on Salinan Anchors.
Aleph: Lol. : D
EarthScorpion: : D
Salina: "So you learned my spell in line with my teachings. That's good. And then what did you study next?"
Keris: "Opening the Hellgate."
Salina: "..."
Salina: eyes fill with tears, lower lip wobbles
EarthScorpion: Oh yeah, so, laying some ground rules here. Salina was always Usagi-like in her polyamorous affability, and she's also using Sasi's body right now and she's not truly Salina, she's an overwhelmed Sasi so there's quite a bit of Sasi still in there, in ways Salina isn't entirely directly aware of.
EarthScorpion: To put it another way, Salina thinks Keris is a cutie and in between talking sorcery and trying to manipulate her, would also be down with casual sex with the beautiful woman from the future since they're friends and Keris is already involved with her reincarnation.
Aleph: Heh. I gathered.
EarthScorpion: This likely may be causing some complex feelings in Keris, though, because "Sasi is hot" but "this isn't really Sasi" but "I do like her" but "wait she's my mentor".
Aleph: I'll have to think about whether Keris would go for it, yeah.
Aleph: Though, lol. If she does, Salina might be biting off a bit more than she can chew. She's probably been with people as good as Keris when she was alive, but probably not many given how accidentally specced Keris is at bedroom stuff, and now she can't use Excellencies to keep her composure. :V
EarthScorpion: I mean, heh, she can accidentally use Elloge now...
EarthScorpion: After all: symbols, patterns, interprets, recalls, sentiment, stories, insight into relationships, isolation, hidden meaning, emotional drama, confusion, romances, lives vicariously, hiding, reinvents herself, proxy personas, obscure, make dreams real
EarthScorpion: Oh, but wait, yes. Elloge does have crippling weaknesses there.
EarthScorpion: Exalts can use this Charm to conceal themselves and understand things, but it comes with a major restriction – it cannot aid open, personal interaction with another character.
EarthScorpion: Which, uh, she may know given her vast knowledge of all kinds of occult topics
Aleph: oh salina
Aleph: Still, she can use that to get a much better understanding of who Keris is.
Aleph: Hah, which is probably how she made that jump of "I will never, ever be able to get this girl to betray her loved ones."
EarthScorpion: So the thing to be scared of is what happens when she gets control and passes herself as Sasi.
Aleph: ...
Aleph: urk
EarthScorpion: And whenever she talks with Keris, she's learning more about who her reincarnation is.
Aleph: Oh Salina : P
EarthScorpion: She's a lot more Sasi-like than either let on.
EarthScorpion: Sasi hides the good side; Salina hides the bad.

...

Aleph: Hee. You know one of the things that characterises the Lineage that descends from Salina through Keris?
Aleph: Its initiates universally don't consider the Station of Choice to be the most important part of initiation.
Aleph: The defining one, yes, but not the most important.
Aleph: To Salina, the Station of Humility is the most important one, and the lesson a sorceress should hold closest to their heart from their Trials.
Aleph: For Keris, it's Fear.
Aleph: If Zany ever bumps her way up to E3 and asks Keris to teach her Sorcery, she'll think it's the Journey.

In many ways that felt like the best update yet. I mean it's probably been matched by things that happened long enough ago that I've forgotten about them but I don't think that it was beaten. The party scene was great I especially liked the critfail with the letter and the misbehavior of Iris but drunken party Sideral was fun too. Other then that the Sasi and Selina scene and the scene with the blacksmith spirit and Haneyl of course. The only thing missing was the wife and she was just their last chapter.

A pretty balanced update. The party was fun, Haneyl teasing Keris was excellent and I can't wait to see how the Allthing Infernal will go.

Hey. I love how the two things that the 'Ruler'of Santa basically demand from Little River are the two things that it's practically impossible for Keris to actually keep to.

As for the Extras... Thanks guys, now I have this picture in my head of Salina and Said accidently getting merged by Keris as she tries to heal Said's mindcape. Not particularly likely I think, but amusing.

If Keris is a Revy trying to become a Mr Chang, Sinasana Medala is the Balalaika of Saata; a vicious ruthless pirate queen who's matured over the course of more than a century into a steely MILF despot. She's the satrap of Saata, but everyone knows her power doesn't come from the Realm, it comes from the fact that she will personally fuck you up if you break her rules, and that before you get that far you'll have to get past the entire cadet house that's mostly descended from her.

Tbh, Keris may be nursing a bit of a crush. As we mentioned with Ney; she's attracted to danger - and as Sasi showcases; older ladies and DB Breeding markers are things she's weak to. Medala ticks all three boxes, if not quite to the same extent that early-game Sasi did. And she's literally what Keris wants Little River to be when she grows up, right down to the Aspect. A little power crush on this living force of nature wouldn't be out-of-character for Keris at all.

So does Keris have any plans on how she'll fake the DB teamwork charms?

Because I cant see Medala not testing Little Rivers combat ability soonish, including her ability to work with other DBs

Salina seems to have the opposite of the usual elder Exalt problem: she's been around old monsters for so long she's forgotten that ordinary people can be horrible assholes too, and thus doing things like giving everyone everywhere the potential for Sorcery might not have been the best idea.

Also, while it would be impossible to have on-camera, I kind of want to see Yamal and Salina interact directly.

That's....actually a really good idea for her. Dayum, I'll need to remember that.

Just spitballing here, but given how ridiculously good Salina is at social, it might be that every mortal she interacted with she was able to talk into being a good person, thus giving her the impression that everyone is reasonable and easily convinced to do good except Exalts, who would have had the ability to blow her off if they wanted to. It's possible she accidentally created an echo chamber for her own ideas.

Excellent update as usual. I really like the develping relationship between Salina and Keris.

On another note I was curious whether Testolagh, Sasimana, and Keris were ever all together in the same place. Can anyone provide info on where in the story this occurred if it did indeed happen?

Speaking of the AlThing......

I'm wondering if there will be a Slayer and Fiend assigned to Sasi to fill out the proto circle she has going on with Keris and Devah

I'm loving the bits about Iris eating artwork and tattoos. I'm betting Keris is wishing that her Training charms include the ability to raise Temperance.

It's fun to see Keris playing with infrastructure and engaging with social groups. It's a big change from when Keris played murder-hobo with her Domain as her infrastructure and her socials as her primary source of social interactions. I'm looking forward to Keris meeting with her Friends in Hell and showing a different face. Keris still hasn't learned any Elloge charms so it will be interesting to see what Eko will have come with to complete herself. I'm betting on going looking for a source of raw Ellogian essence while she's in Hell.

I'm very fond of the write ups of Keris' various holdings. The various summaries of what resources are needed in order to fix them provides so great direction. OMG I just realized that Keris still have Travel 0 and she wants to build a map room.

Oh no I just realized that Keris still only has Coajutor 4. She and Dulmea still haven't completely made up yet.

Keris likes maps in the same way that someone who's really inept at playing guitars appreciates Stairway to Heaven.

excUSE ME YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO ATTACK ME LIKE THIS, HOW DARE

I am shook with the brutal savagery being used on me here. Shook.

Also yes, yay, my write-ups are not going uncommented on and ignored! What do you like best about Silver Lotus, @Indivisible? Or is there something else in the doc that appeals?

For myself, when it comes to Silver Lotus, it may be a small touch, but I appreciate how the damage to the wings of the mansion are subtly and quietly themed on their direction's elements. (oxidation damage in the corrosion in fire's southern wing, gaps and holes in northern air, etc.)

But really the problems and plans are just so evocatively written that one can't help but start running through and imagining everything one thinks Keris is going to do.
