Anderson Quest: Killing Vampires and Werewolves and Leprechauns (Hellsing/Bloodborne)

After some ruminating, I have thought of an alternative.

We find one of these. A Tonsil Stone. The Amygdala outside the Hidden Village will not send the player to the Lecture Building unless you have one of these.

Therefore, it's likely this stone may act as a focus that Ebrietas can use to send us to the Lecture Building, which connects to the Nightmare.

Problem. This stone is usually handed out by Patches the Spider. We killed him. However, this stone can be acquired first in the Forbidden Woods. If we search there, we may be able to find it in one of the normally inaccessible houses, since that is where Patches usually hands out the stone. Or, since we killed Patches in Yahar'gul, he may have stashed it somewhere around here.

Something to keep in mind.

The real problem here is that the Tonsil Stone shouldn't be usable for the same reason we can't use Micolash's body.

Rom's still running interference.

The Amygdalas can move themselves and others between the waking world and the Dreamlands because they are Great Ones connected to the Dreamlands. Rom can't stop that.

But if Rom can stop Micolash's corpse from functioning as a connection point, shouldn't it also stop the use of ordinary focuses?

Additionally, how would Anderson acquire one? The only options are either stumbling upon it or being told about it, most likely by Ebrietas.

It's definitely an option. Still doesn't seem like it ought to function.

That is not conclusive evidence. That is a theory.

I thought that the existence of the Celestial Emissary was conclusive evidence that we would not be able to communicate with Ebrietas. I was incorrect, because despite how much sense it made, it was not conclusive.

Do not dismiss the idea until it is proven impossible.

Really, if we can find any way to avoid unleashing the Blood Moon, I'll take it.

I haven't. I simply consider it unlikely to work.

We'll see what Tricia decides.

EDIT: I understand that avoiding the Blood Moon is a priority. No one wants to lose everyone Anderson's managed to save.

But if there isn't a way to use BB canon to stop it, I'd rather Anderson find a way to protect his people.

Tricia can come up with a contrivance to make it so Anderson gets past Rom without the Blood Moon coming out. Alternately, she can make a contrivance to make it so the chapel is protected when Rom dies. Either way, she's stretching the limits of the story.

A big problem here is that we've long since entered uncharted territory. We have no idea whether any of these options are viable because BB never made them available to players.

So it comes down to us speculating on what might be possible, based on interpretations of BB canon, and Tricia deciding what will happen in the story, based on the options she decides are viable.

I wonder whether Ebrietas could use Rom as a connection to the Nightmare...
That...

...actually feels like an option.

Certainly, there's nothing in canon to invalidate it. Though, to be fair, there wasn't a scenario in BB that made that possible.

I argued against the Amygdala plan because those are hostile, but using Rom, a mindless and non-aggressive Great One, to get past its' own barrier sounds viable.

And, considering Ebrietas made a Spider similar to Rom in the Altar of Despair, she might actually be capable of interfacing with Rom.

You might have just found the best option available.

Well, you can actually get to the Nightmare Fromtier before Rom.

You can't get to the Nightmare of Mensis, where Mergo sleeps, until Rom is dead.

Carry-On Baggage
"Of course it wouldn't be that easy. What's a man gotta do ta start a proper Inquisition around here? This whole fuckin' town's been cockblock central since the minute I got here."

What's a cockblock?

"I'll tell ye when ye're older." You clap your hands together. "So, there a walkin' path ta Byrgenwerth? Ferry? Toll road? Anythin' other than the forest full o' mutant snakes?"

I could fly you there, Ebrietas offers. I know the way.

"That'd work, I suppose, as long as ye're okay with it."

Sure! I carried Simon to a roof earlier. Humans aren't very heavy.

"Don't sell yerself short; ye're a right strong lass. Lemme see those guns. Yer muscles," you clarify as she swings her head about to look for guns. She's not very good at figures of speech, you recall.

Oh. After a moment's hesitation, she gives you a hesitant flex. You smile and give her a pat on the tentacles.

"There we go. Ready?"

I am. You think you hear a smile in there. As she scoops you both up, you note the precise wriggles Simon utilizes to improve comfort and do the same. She takes to the air without any hint of struggle and you soon find yourselves cruising along at an impressive altitude.

Awash in the crisp air, you open your mouth to make a "Whole New World" quip before realizing with horror that neither of them would know what the Hell you're talking about. You're flying along on a gorgeous moonlit night and neither of these two have ever heard of Aladdin. Fuck, Ebrietas even has the same general color scheme as the carpet.

This amazing, perfect opportunity will be lost in time, like tears in rain. They wouldn't get that reference, either.

The journey passes in relative silence due to both your grumpiness and the fact that you're moving way too fast for Simon to hear anything below a bellow. You occupy yourself with watching the brickwork of Yharnam segue into untamed wilds. Despite the height, you catch glimpses of gargantuan boars and knotted piles of snakes moving as one.

Air Ebrietas was definitely a better choice.

A sizable lake soon slides into view and Ebrietas banks towards the sole visible structure on its shore. You take one final look down at the waning forest to see three hooded figures following your flight. They vanish from sight as your ride dives below the treeline and slowly brings herself to a halt.

We're here. It still looks the same as when I left.

Byrgenwerth, Yharnam's premiere hotspot of higher learning, looks more like a dorm than a college. The single structure is wide and tall, sure, but it's severely underwhelming considering the hype. A nearby gate leads through the short stone wall surrounding it, utterly bereft of any official insignias or even frat graffiti.

There are, however, a pair of familiar black lumps plopped atop said wall, looking at you with cocked heads.

"Crawrk."

"How the fuck didja get here?"

"Squirk.'

"Oh, well, that explains it."

do it for yourself, Anderson, at the very least

even if your audience consists of one person, you'll always be able to receive the applause you deserve

Wasn't the Shadows of yharnam job to stop people from getting to Bergenwerth? They must have seen them in the air. Are they going to ambush us?

If they do, Anderson can deal with them. Ain't noone better at slaughtering serpents than an Irish priest, after all. #SaintPatrickRidesAgain
