Yeah, I know. The point remains the same. Also, if Gaia had stayed, she would likely have been forced to swear surrender oaths soon enough. She might not have known it directly (unless she did and the "shining answer" was just an excuse?), but abandoning Creation and only leaving a Jouten behind likely saved her (well not in this quest). The Solars in the height of their madness would not have tolerated a free Primordial whose souls they could not summon or bind in their midst.
Highly unlikely, as that would massively piss off Luna, and probably all the other Incarnae as well. If they tried they'd get their shit wrecked, then probably have their nice Divine mandate stripped. It would also be the Solars alone, as the DB's would likely be useless against the ultimate origin of their power, and the Lunars would follow Luna, who, as before, would be apoplectic. The SIds would never support attacking Gaia because that would horribly destabilize Creation and the Loom and fuck them over.
So, no they would never go after Gaia, because they had a nice thing going and that would be a fast way to ruin it. Besides, the Shining Answer was a big deal to the Primordials, it would make sense Gaia would seek it when she really has nothing better to do.

A large faction of Solars seriously planned to blow up the entire Creation, start from scratch and create something new and better in their own image from the Wyld. Your arguments all make sense, are rational and perfectly logical.

First Age solars at the height of their power were none of those things. If they were, Usurpation would never have happened. If Gaia had stayed and the Solars had tried it, maybe the Usurpation would have happened a lot sooner? Or maybe the whole society would have descended into brutal civil war, with E8-10 solars using massive mind-control charms to influence dragonblooded against Gaia and other dragonblooded or even other solars. Maybe the solars would have been wiped out? Maybe they would have managed to spirit kill Gaia or even Luna (Incarna can die) first? Who knows?

The point is, they were all so insane due to the Great Curse that they would quite probably have atleast tried. The idea that the insignificant (to their minds) Terrestrial exalted would have rebelled would never have even crossed their mad minds. Success in the attempt is a separate matter ofcourse.

Mindscrewing the DBs into doing that wouldn't be nearly as easy/simple for Solars as you suggest, due to their Integrity charms like Dragon's Parable Defense (renamed after the Usurpation to Defense-From-Anathema Method. Indeed, DB strike teams used it to notable effect against the Solars during that period) and/or Thicker Than Stone.

Saki covers her mouth as Taylor winces. "Maybe less explosions? More like Veronica Mars…" "Sold! I'll be the best secret agent who ever agented! One question though," she points "I get Saki's disguise power, right?"

She stops long enough to speak with everyone, though fatigue slows her movements imperceptibly. Next to you, Chevalier sighs quietly, exhaustion plain on his face. She always checks on the squads after combat operations. Particularly when they go bad.

21 votes for Accord. Excellent :)

This makes me confident that he'll be our Ori pick in due time. Especially if we give him a soul, as that will give him more spotlight and deal with the worst of his vices.

Any idea how much XP we could make IC (no omakes etc) until Aisha comes out?

Well, that turned out about how I expected.

It was between Accord and Aisha, and we can always do Accord later.

More importantly, is the world prepared to handle an immortal Aisha?!

Darn, to late to vote.

He really is are best choice for Ori, I'm still confused why people are so against Exalting him.

If I'm understanding the XP system correctly... none. We don't earn Assembly XP for updates; we earn it for OOC stuff. The characters earn at least 1 personal XP per update; certain updates get more.
I've started giving 1 XP to the Assembly XP pool for each update from now on, so we'll likely have ~4 XP from updates alone by the time the next Arc starts.

In other news, today I discovered that one of the antagonists of Disney's upcoming movie, Moana, is a giant, saucy, self-obsessed crab covered in gold and jewels. Voiced by none other than Jemaine Clement. I'm not sure he'll be the voice of Lord Grasp for me in my head from now on, as I have been thinking more of a Tim Curry-esque tonality, but it's amusing to see that Disney and I think alike.

Accord is the Ori-est Ori to ever Ori.

But is he the Ori we need and/or deserve? That's not quite as clear. Personally, as I might have said, I'm not terribly opposed, but I'll take Aisha over him for now, that's fine. :V

because he's a horrible choice for the Assembly's Ori.
I'd even go as far to say that he's the worst choice for Ori.

Eh, when it comes to personality, he fits better than perhaps anyone.

Not wanting more Accord since you don't like him is ofcourse fine though. I mean I don't particularly care for GU (beyond maybe Ally due to power-gaming simply because she is super-powerfull, but even that has its potential problems). My top pick would probably be Armsmaster after he loses the redwood.

Ofcourse, I do want to give Accord a soul and see how that affects things. It might actually be rather interesting to see how he deals with suddenly being, if not shard-free, then atleast highly shard-resistant (especially if we boost his willpower. Though odds are its already atleast 8). And how he would react looking back at things without shard poking at him. I mean we know from WoG that he won't become "Mr. Accuddles", but his shard has been a major driving force (and something he has hated).

Amusing, but this sentiment is simply flat-out incorrect. Accord has participated in human trafficking, torture, and murder, but he has also been (as much as the PRT hates to admit it) a major driving force behind the stability (economic and otherwise) of Boston. As has been mentioned before, dude would fit right into Autochthonia, and if you're basing your feelings off canon then remember that Accord hates his (Shard's) murderous/psychopathic urges and has successfully learned to reign them in as the years have gone on. Hell, he got ganked by the Simurgh because his influence would have likely stabilized things too much for her plan to have worked. Dude's a villain now, to be sure, but he's a prime example of Worm 'heroes' being fucked by circumstance and Shard impulses. Exaltation would likely fix most of the urges and uncontrollable psychopathy, but he's not going to be Mr. Accuddles either; expect tension, but he's a Results Guy first and foremost.

Little of A, Little of B. Accord is an Amoral Psycho at his worst... but he's rarely at his worst these days, and his problems are largely due to Shard buggery and being trapped in a downward-spiral of villainy by PRT policies and attitudes.

Earth-Bet meat machines ("humans") possess, use, and regain their equivalent of Willpower differently than people under Exalted mechanics. I use the OWoD ruleset as a guideline, but much of OWoD assumes magical shenanigans of some variation as well - which is not really the case here. For our purposes, Earth-Bet people generally have a pool of 1-5 Willpower (with some exceptions going higher), and regain it only after acting in accordance with their Nature Archetype or accomplishing a major goal. For example, Accord's Nature Archetype is Director:

Director

To the Director, nothing is worse than chaos and disorder. The Director seeks to be in charge, adopting a "my way or the highway" attitude on matters of decision-making. The Director is more concerned with bringing order out of strife, however, and need not be truly "in control" of a group to guide it. Coaches, teachers, and many political figures exemplify the Director Archetype. Directors may be simple advocates of established codes, or they may prove instrumental in tearing down corrupt existing orders to make way for new leaders or factional movements.

— Regain a point of Willpower when you influence or aid a group or influential individual in the completion of a difficult task.

So, in cases where Accord can apply his power and skills, he can recoup Willpower at a fairly rapid pace (compared to other Earth-Bet humans). However, his power forces so many Intrusive Thoughts into his mind when he's out of his comfort zone that he can rapidly run himself dry in under a few minutes - Willpower to ward off such thoughts is turn-based, not scene- or day-based for Earth-Bet folk. He's basically an edge case for Willpower use in Earth-Bet, but it's worth keeping in mind these mechanics for when the Twins start working their mojo.

Should he be given a soul and 'upgraded' to Exalted mechanics, not only would his Willpower give more bang for the buck, but he'd regain it much, much faster just sleeping and with minor Stunting.

etc.

Any chance there would be people willing to support the next Taylor/Prayer/Saki vote being offering Accord a soul as a free action the next time that becomes available?

Most definitely - I think that's something that's got a fair bit of interest, even if we don't want to Exalt him (personally, I'm thinking either Accord or Armsmaster are actually looking...I wouldn't quite say appealing, but pretty OK, especially since we look like we might be making headway to making them good candidates for the Assembly. Would of course depend on how much giving him a soul actually does).

FTFY

Should we ever make it to postgame, he's a great candidate for an Ori spot, possibly as part of the same Assembly as Starmetal!Lisa. He's just not a good fit for our Assembly.

Just out of curiosity, why?

Accord is not my favorite Ori candidate (Armsmaster is. Tinkers for the Tinker-Primordial!), but I would be fine with Accord over some other options. Why do you (and Sainen for that matter) feel that Accord is very incompatible with our assembly in particular?

I think part of the idea is that we have been trying very hard to have our Assembly be PR friendly. The public should have very few doubts about is, considering how drastic some of our future actions will be (converting physics, summoning a sentient dyson sphere etc). Having Accord be in a post-game Assembly sort of fits if you want a second group of people who are less PR friendly, being former villains and all.

Prayer is the first reason, I don't want the divisiveness that Accord potentially brings to the Assembly seeing as he's an Enemy of C53's, and Prayer hates him.
second is I don't want to spend political capital on the Exaltation of most villains, when we'll likely need it for other things like Essence conversion plans or Bonsaw(which I still think was a bad idea, even if it did give us the Soul Injector)
third is I really don't like Accord, Like I'd rather have him dead than an Ally never mind an Exalt, so why would I want him in the Assembly where I'd be obligated to read more about him?
fourth, Accord is just as useful as a Human with a Soul Gem as he would be an exalt, and the Soul Gem fixes the same problems that Exaltation would.
fifth I'd rather have Miss Militia, Armsmaster or Piggot as Orihalcum as they're more interesting and more likeable characters.

about the only way I'd support Accord for Ori is if the Ori slot is the Final Exaltation, but that's only because of how well he fits the role of Ori(if one of the other candidates becomes even nearly as good then too bad for Accord)
