Alchemical Solutions [Worm/Exalted] Thread 16: Playful Parasites Pervert Prayer, Perpetuate Plagues

In translating an unshackled Dragon to Exalted terms, given a library of cooperative Tinkers to work with.

She's not Exalted scale.

She's Primordial scale.

tl;dr we get less out of Exalting Dragon than we would out of Exalting literally anyone else, because as it stands Dragon is already pretty OP and has unique talents that would be a pain in the ass for an Alchemical to replicate.

Gromweld, I know I am not the best artist, but I missed any reaction to my drawing.

Edit: d'oh, stupid phone.

Let's see some long term thinking, because this discussion seems to go nowhere.

What happens after the S9 are gone? I will go with the premise which seems the most propable ending of the situation:
a. The S9 are gone. They are either all dead or being hunted, but not by us.
b. We have a third Exalt, either in the Cradle or ready to go. No matter if a chosen candidate or trying to save a life, but chances are we will go for a third.
c. We got our familiar back.

The things that we need to do, not in order of importance:
1. The Camden trap. Dragon should be able to do most of this alone, but as our motivation is Ending the Endbringer war, Taylor will have to put in some time in it.
2. Getting Auto to Bet. This one should be mostly a tinker coop between Taylor, Iris, Dragon and propably Armsmaster.
3. Recruiting and PR. Either our new Alchemical or Marrow, because our main character is needed elsewhere.
4. Keeping up our status with the PRT and the Protectorate. This one should be Marrow's job.

So if I see the situation correctly, both our build and our neccesities would mean a lot of tinkering in the post S9 era. Getting Auto to Bet would need Thinker and Tinker support, but if we can convince Dragon, she might be able to bring in Tattletale. She could be very useful for the Bet part of the problem. On the other hand, she would bring up the Danny problem again (IC) which is something we should avoid in the near future.

The thing is, our needed conversations with her have been put off for close to 4 arcs already. It needs to happen sooner rather than later.

I do think we should try to get some people that are loyal to us and train them as sorcerer-engineers so they can help us build and maintain our Vat Complex. I imagine we are going to build it on the ruins of Brockton Bay?

Its hard for us to interact with her on a personal level right now though. Which is not fun. Yep.
We have been talking with her about favourite books and movies. That seems to be personal interaction for me. The only problem is the distance, which is easier to handle if she is an AI. We wouldn't keep her with us even if she was in the Assembly.

It might be only me (as I only came in near the end of Behemoth) but on an IC level, if we start up the whole "Where is my father?" thing, it would become a major effort. Which is something I would prefer to avoid.

That would be a second step after we manage to get Essence stuff on Bet. On the other hand starting a corporation/cult/organization could be useful. Sadly, it would not look good if used the Case53-s as out workers and offered Exaltations or cures after a while. Even if we could totally do it (or at least I hope so, with Auto's help).
Maybe get in contact with Myrdinn. He should know a few people who actually believe in magic. Which is what we offer.

Can't be done. We don't have the technology to give them souls(without which they can't become thaumaturges) yet, though our specialty should pay off eventually there.

Who on Earth Bet can manipulate Essence besides Alchemicals? Much less understand Essence-tech?
Being a Sodality in Autochtonia takes more than a rushed lesson by an Alchemical.
Frankly, I suspect if we get a vat complex here, Iris will run it; the only thing humans will do there is external security.

The way the game has been going, I remain unconvinced of the need for TT, exalted or not; Essence gives her headaches, remember?
And I was never particularly convinced of the suitability of her character for exaltation anyway; she was as unsuitable as Panacea, only differently; both powerful Shards, both iffy personalities and motivations.

With Dragon? Our BFF Dragon?
The lady we spent an entire evening discussing movies and books with?

Pretty much all Thinkers get headaches from Essence at the moment (and only from directly looking at us), so I'm unsure of the point you're making. Besides, with us having IAT up most of the time anyway, that's not a huge issue.

Only Thinkers with a precog-like component get them.
See Accord.
The point is that as a close collaborator, she is likely to be distinctly limited working with Alchemicals who are burning 1st and 2nd Augmentations for extra dice/successes.

That might be fixed by Exaltation, but she was, at last check, not a suitable candidate.
Just like Panacea wasn't/isn't.
That's a function of her shard trying to understand a fundamental force of an alien universe, Exalting her would totally fix that.
Her character/personality remain unsuitable; ditto Motivations.
Again, see Excessively Righteous Blossom.
And with Coil confirmed still alive, I remain unconvinced that he doesn't still have hooks into her and her group.

Good reason to invest in Parian, BTW; keeping the Undersiders out of Coil's hands in the event that Dragon goes down.

I didn't put her up for Exaltation at this point. Her Thinker support would be less about the How?, but the Who? and the Where?. The problem of bringing Auto here is a big one, and her power is very useful in finding out things. Like if a cape has the capability to open doors between dimensions. Like the chances of a new religion around Auto. Like the best way to make sure the PRT lets us do our thing. Like the exact specialities of Tinkers. She could be a great support. Now that I think about it, making her "mundane" support would mean that Taylor won't have to work with her, which is a pretty nice bonus.

It might ALSO mean no more migraines from overusing her power allowing her to spam it without a time restriction measured in minutes.
I suspect it would be replaced by a restriction measured in motes, but otherwise I agree.

Even if we don't Exalt her, I imagine she would adapt just like Coil did with sufficient exposure to us.

Thinker headaches stem from their shards attempting to make sense of Essence. As their model of Essence improves the headaches should go down, or go away entirely if converted.

Character wise, anyone else qualifying for Starmetal would pose similar problems, it's a requirement of the caste that they think themselves qualified to make decisions for the community by themselves, while her motivations remains consistent: Protecting her friends' interests, and a fixation with preventing suicides. Someone useful to have as an ally, but terrible to deal with as an enemy. What's left is simply shard influence towards Valor(especially the unable to resist a challenge aspects), and being under Coil's thumb.

Now trust is definitely a factor, since we've never been able to get her story so far, but also clearly she feels safe enough with us that she moved into a neighboring city AND initiated contact with us when she could have vanished off the map instead. There's something to Danny's story there, and she WAS acting under duress at the time. Perhaps she's figured out that Coil lives, and prefers being near someone who'd deal with him. Or perhaps what she said back in school was entirely genuine.

She has also gone hero, a sign of being willing to make the first steps of talking to US. All that's left is for her to actually meet as agreed and explain shit.

Also fashion, also school, and evidently most of our hijinks.

Yes and the only ones I think that fulfil that are, Tattletale, Accord .. uh Contessa? Alexandria? Dr. Mother?.
Tattle is probably still the least bad choice^^.

And that can still happen after the vetting process if either Taylor does not feel her suitable for Exaltation or Lisa declines. There is no harm in feeling her out and asking.
There is no harm. But as it is a highly debated possibility I prefer avoiding the issue right now. I actually would prefer to delegate at least some of our mundane duties, for which she is excellent as a mortal or as an Exalt. If we can trust her, of course. If she can get a grip on Creation physics, she would propably focus on the Essence-Bet interactions, which would mean we would need somebody else to do the day-by-day parts (information gathering, organization, etc.).

On an unrelated thought: Do we have any extra intel about Myrddin and his magic beliefs? Checking that out would be useful.
