Is it too high for us to tame as we are now? If so, I'll concede.
Because it is not actually possible to tame an adult wolf. You have to start when they are cubs, and even then, they are never completely tame. Why is everyone so intent on killing something that could become a potential ally?
distraction and a deterrent
Not exceptionally distracting, nor deterring. If anything I think it would attract attention, with all the warmth and light.

We can always try later with a different animal. When we aren't exhausted in the middle of the night. Is it too high for us to tame as we are now? If so, I'll concede.
What do you suggest we try? Because nothing I can think of requires a live test subject. And again, we are REALLY tired. So tired, we might collapse if we tried to walk back to town.EDIT: Ooh! Opportunity to try something on a live subject! See if we can kill it without using our hands, keeping our sword ready, though.
Fair enough. Kill it swiftly, and use its pelt as a blanket, then.
Because taming it is by no means a sure thing, and eating their hearts gives us a guaranteed intrinsic power boost. Why is everyone so intent on killing something that could become a potential ally?
These wolves aren't magical. Eating the hearts won't do anything.[X] Kill it.
[X] Sleep in tree, right where you are.
-[X] After you eat the wolves hearts.
Even if they aren't really magical, I think they would have some degree of magic to them (like humans do. We can cast spells after all, so we HAD magic, even if it's not really doing anything). And if nothing else, it's good food, which we might need to regen our arm, depending on if the Regen breaks conservation of matter. These wolves aren't magical. Eating the hearts won't do anything.

Hah, I said that when he came out with the plan, but nobody listened. The Dice Gods roll as the Dice Gods will, however, so it apparently didn't matter.

If you had failed any of the earlier rolls, it would have been a problem, but no. You. Passed. Every. Damn. One.
Dice Gods, why must you interfere with plans?!
