Silver of Evening has possibly my favorite Blurb ever. And does a lot of stuff besides, double Agility is terrifying on us, double charisma is also really good and completely blows the Uttermost penalty away, and oh, it doubles all our Edeldross stuff. Does that mean we have baseline +60% allstats? Crazy. The once-a-month perfect defense and defensive rank buff are just icing on the cake really.

Crimson Flare, on the other hand, gives us rank 7 when doing Blood stuff. It's effectively Once and Future but for Blood rather then martial stuff. Also renders Moon Ring a non-factor in the contest of Primacy, but taking Crimson Flare means that we need to take an Evening Sky EFB next to get the three-artifact EFB bonus, so Ruling Ring will be delayed severely even if Primacy becomes easier. Crimson Flare can also be snap-bought, if we need that for some reason. I think if we get to 25 Arete we'll be spending it that update anyway, so there's only a small number of situations in which snap-buying an EFB matters. Such as if we get an update that doesn't give picks right as we hit 25 Arete.

Both of these are essentially power-focused EFBs, offering alternatives to Once and Future. There's also still the Pillars of Creation plan if we want to do that.

Man, the Goldenrod Bowman with the Correspondent Evocation was Gondar's apprentice? An unfortunate confluence of circumstances, that we had him as an option for Inheritor doesn't imply anything good about his fate. Was he forced to mercy-kill his pupil or something?

[X] Selune vi Tries [Cost: 4 Arete]
[X] Evening Sky: Silver of Evening
- 25 Arete (1 pick)

We should use all the mitigation we can get

Question: If Gondar is not given the assignment to handle Hunger, is he still going to be out hunting for him? If he is out looking for us, it may be best to take him out or attempt social at him first.

No, Gondar won't hunt targets he's not assigned. Straight as an arrow in thought and deed...

Didn't think about how hard it would be to lie to someone with 2+ Rank on you.

If you have enough Charisma it's certainly doable! You could also try turning him by promising the good life for his family, and/or connecting over your shared values and veterancy.

Am currently spending Arete freely. I have been disillusioned from an immediate Ruling Ring rush, but I am liable to do a full-180 to save if someone can convince me of a better non-Forebear EFB to rush.

Crimson Flare can be snapbought...

Seem like a kite build. That will be an annoyance. Avecarn seems like a cool dude, it will be a shame to kill him. Killing a cousin of Letrizia seems rather dickish(not to mention the Arete cost, sheesh).

You don't have to kill her, you could always try turning her!

Wait, if we purchase Pillars can we use it immediately? We have to account for travel time to the Temple and iirc we only have one or two days before we have to wait another month. If that happens - friendship ended with Pillars, now Ruling Ring is my best friend EFB.

Honestly, both of these are disappointing, I probably wouldn't vote for Silver of Evening as a 7 point buy...
o_O

Double +'s to Agility (best combat stat) and Charisma (only stat that can be used to overcome the crippling social dysfunction of the Doom of the Tyrant), doubling of benefits associated with our current magic system, a flat bonus to Rank that makes us objectively much harder for peer competitors to even hurt, and the ability to nullify just about any incapacitating condition within a month, or instantly if we're patient and wait a month.

I'm not saying it's the best EFB possible, but it's sure as shit worth 7 Arete, or even more.

IIRC for things we've got for 24 Arete

Once and Future(If we just met Zang Kong, this wins)
Total Eclipse(If we have a really weird problem, this wins)

For our other candidates...

The Ring of Power: Crimson Flare (Brings us to Rank 5, spares us a contest of primacy with the Azure Ring, otherwise we're going to need to worry about that when we get the ring. Gives us massively more powerful blood effects to empower our allies, we could make Letrezia live a lot longer. Super healing for verschlengorge. Basically this solves all our blood and ring based problems)

Tangentially, I've got a theory now. The risk from giving the Azure Ring/Ring of the False Moon to Gisena or Letrezia is that it will force periodic contests of primacy with them that we must be on top of or bad things will happen.

Evening Sky: Silver of Evening - If we have a Social Problem or are about to fight an enemy with a really nasty esoteric effect, this wins.

Crimson Flare is good, not good enough to give up the EFB trinity we're aiming for though. As I'm assuming we're still aiming for the Ruling Ring.

We should have enough time to run into Gondar. Any encounter with him should lead to picks, since winning a fight obviously would, and socially beating him by convincing him we want to join would as well.

Please note it is very difficult to successfully lie to someone with 2 rank on us, for anyone picking the High Marshall.

[X] Gondar Hrsillimas
[X] The Ring of Power: Crimson Flare
- 25 Arete. (0 picks, but requires Chief Dominion)
