- As written.
[X] Quickwater

Anywho, moon-themed element = synergies with the temple? Also the most immediate power 'n stuff, so we're more likely to survive. Can go all double double toil and trouble during downtime, we already know Hunger can get around needin' to sleep

huh... wait a moment, if we can fucking use inkysky or our panoly as a fucking arm then why the bloody hell are we going for regenerating our arm?

Now is the time to change your votes people!!! please vote for something more other then the 3 pick to regenerate our arm.

Certainly hope I can sway a few of you mates so the vote isn't so one sided.

I'm going to shamelessly mention the fact that drawing the Evening Sky is pretty much Microwave's favorite part of drawing Hunger, and then continue that thought by stating that Inksky will make the cloak more prominent in scenes she might want to depict due to enacting neat magical effects.

That's right, I'm wielding artistic inspiration against you like a cruelly sharp sword! A purple sword, at that! Don't you know purple is made out of Blue options and Red options?

Guys, Progression is kind of our best capability right now. You've all seen how good the Blood Advancements are for incredibly cheap, imagine getting even more of those, but for the Evening Sky! It can be an incredible boost, especially because the Evening Sky is already part of his fighting style and so would need minimal adaptation and training; unlike the other two options. It's the most fit for someone who wears Hunger on his finger. No training, only Progression!

We don't know if the vote's closed or not; if it isn't, I'm definitely not voting for Zweihander, though it will be okay even if it wins I guess.

Hnng, how am I supposed to choose between these? They're all great, with Quickwater being a good choice for the (Not) Dying faction, Inksky synergizing so well with our Accretion and not requiring hands (so maybe we won't have to take Zweihander after all) and Elderdross giving that sweet +Catherine working together with Gisena so well. Wait, is Elderdross secretly the Harem element?

One day. One day I'll have done enough to warrant an actual hubristic magic system.

But until that day, all I can do is

help get us to the next page

[ ] The Falcon's Retort - Reject the hold of the earth, repudiate its assertion of power over you. Take to the skies and be free-- just remember, the falcon hunts alone.

* Gain power from isolation. At first, in the direction of flight, tracking, and hunting. Move quickly, see farther, and strike harder.
* Gain power from Hunts. Each meaningful kill gives you a Trophy- a discrete buff or ability derived from the takedown of a powerful foe. Foes below your level grant nothing.
* High immediate power and moderate scaling, useful for acquiring new systems of power through Hunting magical opponents.
* The true power of this system lies in its ability to not be affected by supernatural forces, instead relying on discrete improvements of the self through isolation and hunting.
* Relatively straightforward- or is it? (Discount the Falcon's Ascent and the Falcon's Flight by 2 and 7 Arete, respectively.)

Dark Abstraction, have you gotten a magic system yet? I forget.

We don't know if the vote's closed or not; if it isn't, I'm definitely not voting for Zweihander, though it will be okay even if it wins I guess.

Even so if anyone could change their vote if Inkysky looks to win in a landslide then all due would be appreciated. would be abboying to get our hand back and then inkysky which is bassicly... not really effiecient use of our picks at all.

The flight Edelross provides sounds lame as hell, gonna be honest. I'm not really inspired to wonderment by it. I'd rather our cloak unfurl into literal wings of starlit dusk and fly that way. Seems more likely with Inksky.

Relevant to my mental image:

Is this just an independent work of art, a photoshop, or is this actually from or related to something. If it is I need to know where it is from.

* Relatively straightforward- or is it? (Discount the Falcon's Ascent and the Falcon's Flight by 2 and 7 Arete, respectively.)
9 Arete of value, on top of a decent magic system in itself? I'd love to see what this was lined up against to make that anything but an auto-pick.

Remember the Ordinal Spell Terrascape and what shenanigans mages did with it in previous quests? Coldbriar with his Infinite Fractal Coastline technique and the weirdness of the Enoch's Academy shows the potential of having in essence a customizable reality. It also spends all its power in the Evening Sky and doesn't add another power sink so we don't get pulled in a new direction when it comes for a new build vote. Consolidate the power of Surgecraft into the Evening Sky!

I'm v confused by quickwater. How exactly do we activate the +Rank bonus? Is it a potion that we drink first? A cloud of mist that emanates from our body?

What's portion of the Quickwater magic system requires extra measures while we sleep? Can we still get the Rank+ by emitting a bunch of mist even though we just woke up?

I am currently throwing nominal currency at the screen for this. Yes. Please.

I spent the last two hours thinking up manifestations of Erii's hypothetical soul evocation that will almost certainly in no way match Rihaku's inevitable Sylvie of her except worse since we actually killed Vanreir instead of just neglecting him and we can't rez him
will post once I add some non-crunch, but I'm pretty happy with the crunch and the blurbs even if I'm shamelessly quoting for part of them

Come to think of it, the Evening Sky is also the one out of the three artifacts that aren't from the Tyrant or Forebear himself; i.e. not an artifact that Hunger has stolen, abducted away. So that's neat too.

Actually, he abducted it from that pirate he killed, though in a far more purified and aesthetically dominant form.

Inksky is necessary to allow evening sky to remain competitive in the short-term, especially since it doubles the value of it's +'ses. I would love Elderdross, but potential dies in the altar of raw power, unfortunately.

Edeldross actually provides more immediate power than Inksky in most situations. Flight + 20% All Attribute Boost + Nullity Shields is better than +1.4 Protection and Charisma and crude telekinesis.

@Rihaku is the previous build vote still going on? Inksky not requiring an off-hand makes non-Zweihander options much more competitive. I know I would switch to Prime+Quickening if given the chance; for example.

You still need a hand free to summon Inksky, so you'd need the spare to heal the cloak or perform certain types of manipulations. Also the cloak itself is far too clumsy at this point to be effectively used in Hunger's swordplay.

Quickwater is the quick-and-dirty "We need combat buffs" option. It grants some nice buffs to us and debuffs to enemies. It eventually unlocks potion-making as a utility effect. It's serviceable and practical.

It also unlocks reality-distorting fields of various flavors based on the variations of mist, though it's the most dangerous one to experiment with!

We are going back to the temple, while still lacking in exotic attack vector defense.

+Rank and +All Attributes also serve as exotic defenses! Agility as well, since you can intercept many attacks with the Praxis blade.

Guys, if we merge powerscaling for Evening Sky and Surgecraft, we'll reduce the amount of Arete sinks from 4 to 3! This is the most efficient way to go about things. Also, it scales with Rank!

Inksky is a pretty compelling option in that we can scale our Evening Sky and synergizes extremely well with us possibly picking up Pillars of Creation in the future like the thread has been discussing. I initially thought I would be pretty opposed to spending 7 Arete on our Imaginary Element but this discounts Pillars by 5 Arete, so it isn't an inefficient pick at all since it provides progress towards an EFB-equivalent.

Edeldross is more interesting to me in a narrative sense though, it has links to the findross as its apparent originator energy source and also provides a + to Catherine (??!!), either Hunger's dead wife (not so dead after all?!) or possibly a version of Ceathlynn "Catherine" of Amarlt in this reality? Total Eclipse is actually my preference for an Evening Sky-based EFB since its potential effects sound more diverse than Pillars of Creation and this option might allow us to unlock and guarantee that effect's continued existence. However, I'm pretty ok with the idea of Pillars as well and it is more efficient in a mechanical sense to pick up that with the 5 Arete discount in the future as compared to the mere 1 Arete discount derived from Edeldross.

Shame about Quickwater though. It seems to be the most practical of the Imaginary Elements on offer but doesn't really seem to have many compelling conceptual abilities like what Edeldross could potentially offer nor give the amazing EFB progress of Inksky so it's probably going to be completely ignored by the thread. It's actually a more interesting aesthetic to me since water-based elementalism is a pretty flashy magic and translates to cool imagery in my mind (with a vague similarity to Shinsoo?) than Inksky or Edeldross. Also interesting to me that it's the more personal Element to Hunger, being derived from his practicality and self as compared to his Artifacts and Companions in Inksky and Edeldross respectively.

Hunger does kind of give me the impression of water now that I consider it, with the fierce rage of stormy sea-waters and the cool clarity of a placid lake coming to mind. Would have thought that something Fire-based would be his essential nature, but perhaps that intense flame of wrath was burned away alongside his self in his final sortie against the Tyrant. In that regard, it may be that Quickwater is more suitable for one as cold and determined as the Nightmare Praetor.

Just trying to type out my initial thoughts on this, not really opposed to any of the Elements offered and I'm surprisingly fine with spending 7 Arete on either Inksky or Edeldross though I'm going to think a bit more before voting.

Also, the above is 448 words in case this gets counted towards Arete (trying to contribute towards our funds for future EFBs!)
