The Ring has arguably power comparable to the Blade, and in many areas exceeding it... it's simply a matter of grasping the fullness of that power.

I am curious, what is the potential of Evening Sky? It offers a surprising number of conjunctional advancements with the Ring and Blade, so it can't be poor...

There's much to be said of being a monolith of power incontestable, as the Forebear clearly was. But I don't want Hunger to become the Forebear, so utility is still something I'm interested in seeing. No, I want Hunger to be a pseudo-protege of the Forebear. He and his ways have much to offer Hunger, but Hunger has different goals, and should develop as his own variable inclinations would encourage.

He wields the Blade That Was Stolen, and he's made it his own. Let us follow that vein and take what best lessons the Forebear may offer and wield them in conjunction with Hunger's other repertoire for Hunger's own purposes.

After all, imitation is flattering but making more of one's self than the sum of their parts is what makes one's teachers the proudest.

Consequence of taking Dreadnought's Bearing: We specialize too much in the BEAR/BER affix. We have the Forebear's Blade, are gearing up to fight Ber, and now we're taking on the Forebear's bearing? Ridiculous.

All things considered-- Stranglethorn makes our Agility weaker, but that is acceptable for me. I want to note that Rank increases minorly compensate for Agility in that the reality/fate warping lets us suppress the initiative of others and quicken our own movements. Moreover, the Strength and Constitution increases might not be able to solve problems Agility can solve, but massively open up our offensive options by simply being able to take more punishment and dole out more punishment. I also happen to like the lore of Stranglethorn-- in it, we see a more patient, more pensive, and more ponderous Hunger, a characterization I compelling. Lastly, as a scaling measure Stranglethorn is brilliant-- it synergizes with the multiplicative benefits of Form of Rage, it hastens our advancement in Godstat, and presents a reasonable way to start our empire that I find agreeable. Encounters that give us 4 picks are rare, and the time to seize the thorns is now.

Clearly, and foolishly, you fail to understand that we are slowly becoming that most powerful of all combatants - the Bearbarian. Which, as all are aware, is one of the true paths to Muscle Wizardry.

Or-- to become a psychopathic blue swordbeam-wielding sissy. I've had enough of collecting bear asses for a lifetime.

...I'm still kinda wondering how the whole Stranglethorn + vanguard thing will work. Because it should give Gisena 80 Con. I'm not really capable of quantifying that meaningfully. That's "And then they threw her through a mountain. And then to the moon. And then they got so frustrated they blew up the moon." levels of Con.

We didn't take the Brand of the Champion. Indeed, ours will be the bear ass (bare ass?) whose collection is desired. We shall be the bane of many dipshit adventurers with more bravado than sense! And we've already got the first one all set up. Damn, being a unique wandering boss encounter is easier than we thought!

Alright, lets focus on Rank. Get this, save up, get Dominion/Prominence afterwards. 4.3 Rank right now, 4.55 with Dominion, 4.8 with Prominence/Dominion or FOR proc, 5.3 with everything. Two Echos are not shabby either, as that's six stats.

Dark Abstraction would have single-handedly convinced me, even if Microwave hadn't asked us to give the artists a hand. (Metaphorically, not the actual hand choice.) Even if this option does delay our princess-carry for Gisena, and cost an arm and a leg, I'm still down to stare soulfully into those crazy crazy eyes.

Also mechanics, I guess. Kinda care less about those since Dark made two pretty good puns in their argument.

Stranglethorn is a better rank focus!

Regarding Gardener's Hallow, I would say assuming competent play:
'Basic' effects like +Echo and medium-grade healing can be acquired in days or less
'Incredible' effects are usually the work of weeks of sustained effort for the low-hanging fruit, months otherwise
'Spectacular' effects are the work of years, decades, or centuries

However, if you hustle you can certainly get numerous basic and 1-3 incredible effects before the month's over. That's quite a haul for just 2 picks and 7 Arete! And it provides the most immediate source of fast healing in this update. Healing means more farming, more farming means more Experience! It's not like you're doing anything else in your downtime anyway, so you could spend most of your time farming and still go kill shit from time to time!

Assuming you guys get access to a second magic system relatively quickly (which should be possible in the near future, either with Philosopher's Wreath or another effect), I would say that Rune King outclasses most options quite heavily. If you do intend to be a warrior-mage instead of just a warrior (and having somewhat given up on warrior-thief in order to make that possible...), it would behoove you to take relevant options sooner rather than later! Especially rare ones like Rune King, which also grants some of the best stats in the game, +Int and Wis!

A Second magic system? We don't even have the first! And we can't get both Rune King and Hallow this update.

Odin is just too cool! And frankly, I like the one-eyed look...

Yes, Obviously and Retreat to the Antechamber are both handily ahead. Not a huge fan of that as a combination.

[X] Feat: Apex
[X] Forebear's Blade - Echo of the Forebear
[X] A Thousand Cuts

[X] Keep Up Momentum

After some more though I think this is the best choice. Raw stats along with a powerful ultimate to heavily increase the range of enemies we can handle, along with Ranks' world manipulation to further stack the odds Momentum has already shifted in our favor that what we find will fall into this increased band. All the long term options are basically mirages in the desert at this point to my mind, the time to take them is when we've actually found our feet in the dungeon, not when we're clinging on with our fingernails.

We need to take advantage of the easy killing as long as possible, being able to operate in a semblance of safety while hunting will do more for our odds then sitting back and full healing. Simply due to the scale the encounter rolls can rise to. There's things that can swat us down trivially no matter what we purchase and do here. So maximizing our uptime when there's less chance for the dice to hit on them is the way to go.

Watch as we lock ourselves out from making deep choices cause that requires depth perception. /s

I'm slightly being swayed by Stranglethorn due to Once And Future.

Then Gardener's Hallow could've probably been fed with some super fertilizer with Pillars to expedite none Pillars fruit growth.

But then again. SORD GUD is one true path.
