We could've avoided this bind by just taking El Stats! We've could've had our fish and eaten it too, gone straight from satiety to comfy naps. Instead, we're swerving hard right into Fisherman Quest. Little did we know that muscle wizardry wasn't the true destined path...

Imagine dying this early in the quest and not even having gotten Praxis out of it. :V
If it turns out the thread's willing to assume greater risks (hopefully exhaustion's not actually a 33-66 percent chance of death?) for a fucking fish than the Sword That Ends the World and we die because of this, yeah, I think we'd all spontaneously gain insight into the Dao of Endless Salt.

Only if the fish kills you now! Who knows, you might die to its inflicted wounds later on... the wonder of Conditions!

I'm curious. Why didn't you guys just pick Substantially? Was a fish-based shiny just too precious to ignore?

Was this all a part of my Mondo Bait-based plan?

I tried. I really really tried. People got distracted by the first shiny you waved in front of their face and the ???. Note everyone completely forgot about the ??? that comes with Conclusion.

Whatever portion of time I spent backing the legendary fish route was an attempt at influencing things in a less risky direction.

Edit: Heck from a raw vote data/plan standpoint Substantially/Star Cloaked Shroud/Rod of Ages is actually pretty popular. Within 2 votes of getting the legendary fish.

Don't be silly. You can baste a fish in delicious sauces and eat it - I dare you to try eating the Praxis! The choice is clear.

Update in 30 minutes. Have a preview!

It began, the herculean struggle between man and beast, the test of patience and timing, of placement and cunning, a contest of wills as much as of strength. Prey and predator were united by hunger as well as happenstance: the fish, to nibble at bait without surrendering its life, and the man, to seize his prize before the lure dissipated.

Overcome by the moment, defiant against the fates and the world, he spent of himself recklessly, drawing forth every iota of power to bend lake and denizens to his will. His instincts pierced the waters like a great refulgent eye, and the tantalizing gleam and dance of his bait was as a thing of gold, made precious and inescapable by the will of his spirit.

"I-is all this really necessary?" Letrizia shouted, barely audible over the circle of winds that whipped around him, an intemperate halo.

"Go Hunger! Feed us, yay!!" Gisena cheered, bouncing lightly in place. She'd come over to witness the spectacle, pausing her ominous work on Verschlengorge's missile array. Hair and dress alike fluttered crazily in the wind; he wasn't sure how she could see.

There. A sharp tug and jerk on his line, sudden force as if to pull the rod from his hand.

A big one.

The sheer ridiculity of going all-in, Further Beyond on a choice of literally just fishing.

It's a whacky mystery box, like being in middle of stamp collecting, then deciding between collecting all local stamps (Substantial equivalent) or going ham and tracking down every stamp in this country, no matter how rare (King Postman Fisherman).
Oh, and that's in an interlude in a Xianxia quest, while promising power of a new cultivation tier.

Part of it is memes and funnies, but part of it is sheer curiosity- what on earth could this activity possibly give us?

At least, that's what it is for me.

Well, this being Letrizia's first experience with fishing, she's gonna know it's serious business. If she ever sees someone else trying she's going to be like "Where's the special effects?"

this is your brain on cardinalities
[ ] The Net of Heaven - More science than art, this beautiful device was fashioned from the impermeable matter of higher reality. To bring its barest principles into physical being is utterly beyond the masterwork of any mortal agent; only by ancient sorcery and terrible sacrifice may its vastness be confined and harnessed. The full spectrum of waterborne life is but a fraction of its catch, bringing good fortune as well as terrible judgment upon those who dare its trawling heft.

[ ] The Spear of Destiny - When mere might is insufficient and survival no longer but pre-condition to other goals, the Spear may yet be sculpted and held. Designed for plunging into the eldritch waters of before human-compatible reality, this polearm heaves aside probabilistic certainty in favor of the murky depths of esoteric potential. If wielded often and with skill enough, its bearer may develop one of Accursed's least-favored hermetic arts: that of the Noble Praxfishing.
