You know. In case some dick decides to out of the blue marry your cousin and tear the Isles apart in a civil war. You don't want to be gallivanting off in Westeros if that happens.

You're related to pretty much everyone in the Islands. The nobility resembles Europe at the eve of WWI, with the marriage options down there helping alleviate the inbreeding to a certain extent, but the family tree is pretty much open to you. Salla would have had at least a few wives, concubines and maybe a consort if he swung that way. Plus uncles, cousins, etc.
