A Little Trouble in Big China - A Chinese Warlord Quest

What you folks think?
You astound me with your knowledge of historical trivia.

I think if you offer him a bribe before the deal, to assure him that he will not be wasting anything, it could work. You should also get other options in case Bai Chongxi does not accept, maybe asking him to send someone he considers trustworthy, or simply a Tong member who knows English (given that he negotiated with the British), and can be trusted upon to to learn arabic during the trip.

In itself, it seems very interesting. It's just shocking. It seems unlikely, because it comes out of nowhere, but that doesn't mean it can't work. Just that nobody will be expecting it.

Will edit later.

And the trivia, it's just research on the internet.

All research, into the wee hours of the morning.

Certainly comes out of the left field; but hey things can't get any worst. :V *knock on wood

I also hope the rolls succeed.

@Dadarian, which Zaibatsu is controlling Green World Trading and Shipping, Chang Jiang Arms and Shanghai Medical Care Corps.?

What do you folks think now?

* Send a message to Chiang Kai Shek. Tell him to hire a trustworthy Hui Muslim whose Arabic is very good because you want to give him foreign diplomacy experience. Send him and the Hui translator to the Middle East to contact Sultan Taimur bin Feisal, leader of the very, VERY BANKRUPT Oman, to propose establishing a scheme which will make money for the Al Said Dynasty, and all they have to do is extend their diplomatic protection over all Shanghai Tong businesses through a corporation based in Muscat and with a Shanghai Branch to be named the Al-Said Dynasty Investment Corporation.

Bring briefcases of Silver and Gold Ingots (Yes, China has silver mines and lots of silver coins circulated in China), each one weighing at 1 Shanghai Tael, as a gift and bribe to convince Taimur of the Tong's sincerity.

Also propose to Taimur to build an Omani Embassy in Shanghai to not only facilitate business and diplomatic protection but to give Oman and the Al-Said Dynasty prestige.

* Once Taimur accepts, and the Corporate headquarters, Omani embassy and Shanghai branch is built, the first order of business is to inquire about buying the Shanghai Medical Care Corporation and Green World Trading and Shipping Corporation off the Japanese. In case this fails then Al-Said Dynasty Investment Corporation is to silently buy stocks in the Zaibatsu that holds these two corporations in the Tokyo Stock Exchange with the aim of becoming a silent minority stockholder that can deliver votes during any crucial moment and as a spy inside the corporate ranks of the involved Zaibatsu.

If the objective is to create legal enterprises (and regain the old ones) then it seems fine to me. The emir might get into trouble with his religious opposition, but that's his problem, and the money will help him fight, so, good plan. Don't really have anything against it. Let's hope it goes well.

The religious opposition? There is already the Treaty of Sib, which made peace reign between Muscat and the Imamate. And then in 1954, in the Jebel Akhdar War, Muscat provoked a war with the Imamate because of oil found within Imamate lands and British support.

Anyways, its most likely that there will be no religious opposition whatsoever...until Taimur bin Faisal picks a fight with the Imamate.

Hmm...what's your opinion on this? Would it be taken badly by the British if bin Faisal hires KMT 'Mercenaries' who are in Oman to train up in desert warfare, for future offensives into the Xinjiang region?

Oh. Obligatory:

Vote Du Yuesheng! Yes! Du! Yue! Sheng!

Yes, that is what I was referring to. The peace might be broken if the Sultan starts consorting with very impious muslims/ heretics.

If they are Warlord-KMT, probably not. Though I don't know if the British know how large the gap is between the two governments. The Japanese definitely would. And "hires", given that he is inmense debt seems unlikely (unless you also pay).

@Dadarian Who controls the port of Shanghai? Can the Japanese search ships without causing an incident?

@Dadarian

So where did that Japanese puppet came from? I thought the entire Manchuria military had been completely unified under Zhang faction? Is there other things I don't know about Manchuria?
Also, did Zhang faction manage to lure in White Russia refugees?

So, given what Dadarian said, unless they go on a British/French ship, it's unlikely to happen, because the Japanese won't let any ships pass, and the other way is a bit long. You should probably be able to get your diplomat on a British/French ship just paying , but not an army.

Manchukuo was formed by the Japanese military to have a Chinese puppet in the region that isn't a Zhang. The entire Manchuria military did coalesce under Zhang Zuolin, Zhang Zongchang was a bandit before being picked by the IJA for being extraordinarily corrupt and malleable. Manchukuo is essentially Japanese funded and legitimized bandits as a result.

You did get some Whites, but most have formed communes and villages in the north or created conclaves in Korea. By "lured White Russians", I assumed you mean useable ones as opposed to just peopling rural areas.

Yes, anyone who didn't want to get death by Reds essentially.

I'll make a list:
  • Portugal: incident(friends of Britain)
  • Greece: no incident(lightweight)
  • Turkey: no incident(lightweight)
  • Netherlands: incident(Great Power)
  • Americans: incident(Great Power)
  • Spanish: incident(has-been Power)
  • Italy: incident(Great Power)
  • Russia: no incident(dirty Commies)
  • Omani (?): no incident(lightweight)
So the Japanese can touch geopolitical lightweights and the Soviets with no problem, but others are big no-no.

Also known as if they got a navy then i'm not doing jack type of inspection. :V

Greece and Turkey got respectable Navies. So do the South American nations.

They just need ports to resupply at.

Also @Dadarian, vote close and update when?

They have respectable navies for their area of the world. Frankly the powers think they have no business in asia so this is what they get.

That said, voting is closed.

Update may take a couple days at least because it'll be entirely done on my phone.

This tally is very strange

Now we wait for death, glory, and unlimited hurbis. :V

(I also can not believe how there's less vote for Zhang faction than Tong faction.)

Writing the update now (computer's fixed), we have our first natural 10 and our first natural 0(s). This'll be a ride.
