A Little Trouble in Big China - A Chinese Warlord Quest

[X] Chen Duxiu: Han Leader of the CPC.
-[X] Support Left-KMT industrial and military efforts.
-[X] Launch anti-Japanese propaganda on KMT, Warlords and Qing territory. Paint the KMT-CPC United Front as a force of reason, willing to temporally set aside conflicts with other Chinese powers to fight together much more dangerous enemy.
-[X] Prop up a partisan movement in Japanese-occupied regions.
-[X] Suggest USSR to support Fengtian Clique. They're in desperate situation right now and lack allies. A little help right now will make wonders for Communist support amongst locals and may secure Manchuria in USSR-friendly hands.

[X]Sun Yat-sen: Han Revolutionary and leader of the Chinese National Party. Founder of the Chinese Republic.
-[X]Plan Military Expansion and Defense

[X] Du "Big-Eared Du" Yuesheng: Han mob boss who has a controlling interest in Shanghai and worked with elements of the Republicans. Ties with elements of the Chinese Revolutionary Party (Kemingtang).

Development:

* Send a message to Chiang Kai Shek. Tell him to hire a trustworthy Hui Muslim whose Arabic is very good because you want to give him foreign diplomacy experience. Send him and the Hui translator to the Middle East to contact Sultan Taimur bin Feisal, leader of the very, VERY BANKRUPT Oman, to propose establishing a scheme which will make money for the Al Said Dynasty, and all they have to do is extend their diplomatic protection over all Shanghai Tong businesses through a corporation based in Muscat and with a Shanghai Branch to be named the Al-Said Dynasty Investment Corporation.

Bring briefcases of Silver and Gold Ingots (Yes, China has silver mines and lots of silver coins circulated in China), each one weighing at 1 Shanghai Tael, as a gift and bribe to convince Taimur of the Tong's sincerity.

Also propose to Taimur to build an Omani Embassy in Shanghai to not only facilitate business and diplomatic protection but to give Oman and the Al-Said Dynasty prestige.

* Once Taimur accepts, and the Corporate headquarters, Omani embassy and Shanghai branch is built, the first order of business is to inquire about buying the Shanghai Medical Care Corporation and Green World Trading and Shipping Corporation from the Japanese. In case this fails then Al-Said Dynasty Investment Corporation is to buy stocks in the Zaibatsu that holds these two corporations in the Tokyo Stock Exchange with the aim of becoming a well known minority stockholder that the Zaibatsu has to listen to.

* Have thousands of bilingual (Korean and Chinese) pamphlets secretly printed and then distributed in the following locations (Shanghai, Qingdao, Seoul that was currently renamed Gyeongseong, and Pyongyang currently renamed Heijo), with the anonymous author (Du Yuesheng) arguing that it is the duty of the Chinese and Koreans in Japanese administered territory to demand all the rights and political representation given to Japanese Citizens, in order to have Chinese and Korean members of the Diet campaigning for full autonomy of all occupied territories with independence to be negotiated in the future on the very floor of the Imperial Diet.

If they aren't given these rights it is their duty to wage a righteous revolution with the aim of overthrowing the current government of the Empire of Japan, and replacing it with a Federal Republic or a Federal Monarchy composed of Constitutional Monarchies exactly based on the British Constitutional Monarchy and which will never ever have the Japanese Emperor as head of state. And the proposed Federal Republic or Federal Monarchy is going to instantly offer an open invitation to the KMT and the Qing Empire to join the Federation to counterbalance the Japanese from the very start of the revolution.

* Search for all surviving members of Du Yuesheng's Personal Guard. Once done, offer them and their families ALL THE INCENTIVES to regroup in Zhuhai, Guangdong. There they will start recruiting members for a new and expanded Personal Guard.

* Send complete copies of the blueprints for the Howell Rifle to the two KMT and the Fengtian Clique, to enable them to fight the Japanese better. Also provide daily Intelligence of Japanese Military Movements and Personnel to the KMT and the Fengtian Clique.

* Have escape routes to Macao, Hong Kong and Guangzhou planned for Du Yuesheng.

They put up a hell of a fight, which really helped in the defence of Shanghai. The Japanese weren't expecting automatic fire at all. However, most are dead while others fled and some are in hiding.

How many survivors out of the 200 are there exactly? And are the American and the French still alive?

Will the Japanese take it badly if a memorial temple to the Personal Guard is erected?

Is Chiang Kai Shek still willing to lead the Kemingtang?

Is the Chang Jiang Arms Corporation still working? And what are the IJA doing with the HQ of the Shanghai Medical Care Corporation? And what is the status of the Green World Trading and Shipping Corporation?

And what are the chances of a revolution that I postulated above?

What do you folks think?
First: you forgot to do the [X] thing.
Point 1: Seems unlikely to me, given the history calling for foreign aid has, and the fact that the Japanese have already given assurances, but it is high-reward, and I tend to be more cautious.
2&3: Getting an opposition party in Japan that calls for equal rights, and has strong economic backing would be very nice; but I don't know if Chiang is considered a criminal for fighting against the Japanese; also, he was always very anti-Japan, so it seems difficult for him to accept being a collaborator. That, and given that the Japanese have already made it clear that they have no problems with killing civilians, you could get into a problem; keep an escape route ready.
4: Good idea, but you could also try to expand it: with most dead, they will need reinforcements.
5: Thank you very much! Both KMTs?

Question: do you think it would be possible to get the Japanase Army/Navy (especially officials) addicted to opium?

The goal is to emulate Donald Trump and shatter all conventions. Be an Out of Context Problem for Japan and change the paradigm.

A War of Conquest by Japan of China is now instantly flipped into a Democratic and Socialist Revolution against the Racist Militarist government of Imperial Japan with the aim of replacing an Empire with a Democracy.

A seizure of a corporation is instantly turned into a war on Capitalism by the militarists of the world who want to take over the corporations and companies and then run it in their own names to line the pockets of the generals.

1) Yes the Japanese have given assurances to the International Settlements that they won't do anything against them. But that's not related to what I'm trying to point out. Du Yuesheng is pointing out this is a terrible precedent for the Capitalists of the world, a herald of an enemy from an unexpected direction. With this example of seizing a corporation that had no relation to war-making whatsoever by an army and then quickly made to resume operations with the army generals as the CEO, all Capitalists on the planet are now in danger from the people who love guns and worship armies and wars suddenly thinking they also want the money.

A protest must be made before other militarists in the world start to have ideas. This particular army, and this particular militarist party must be made an example of by the Capitalists, the rich men of the world, for the sin of making a precedent that puts them in danger.

Besides, even if it fails with the Westerners, with the Zaibatsus...who at this point in time until the end of WW2 are looked down on and with suspicion by the Japanese militarists...it really is an existential threat to the Zaibatsus. They can't afford not to protest, because it really could be them next now that the Imperial Japanese Army had a taste of a corporation.

2 and 3) The beauty of this plan is that this isn't collaborating with Japan, this is leading a revolution of the Chinese and the Koreans against the government in Tokyo to replace an empire of Japanese with a Federal Republic of Asians. The KMT and the Fengtian Clique can instantly pay lip service to being part of the Japanese Empire and then say they are revolutionaries demanding to change the government to a more representative one. The Soviet Union would have an orgasm at being able to support Japanese Communists by supporting a revolution to overthrow the Japanese Empire and replace it with a Republic that they could slowly change to become more Communist. The Qing Empire...well, we could throw them a bone by instead being a Federal Constitutional Monarchy so that the Qing Emperor is still an Emperor. The Qing might really, REALLY LOVE the idea of giving the Japanese Emperor some payback. And in one stroke all collaborationists and colonial units are instantly under suspicion for being symphatetic to this cause...or all collaborators and colonial units are now susceptible to the call of a Revolution to change their status as second class citizens into full citizens.

4) Fixed. Will not only be recruiting but expanding the Personal Guard.

5) Both KMT's.

High Risk, High Reward Plan! We will lead the Capitalists of the World against Militarism, the destroyer of Capitalist economies! We will wage a Revolution to change Japan by force!

Vote Du Yuesheng! Yes, Du Yue Sheng!

Never thought I'd be happy because someone emulated Trump...

I very much like your plan- if it works, like all your plans, it'll be wonderful, and given the strength of the pacifist movements in the Interwar period, it is more likely to do so. As the Japanese have just murdered most of the membership of radical (anarchist/communist) groups, I would still suggest preparing an escape route- they might very well consider a Pan-Asian nationalist "revolutionary" a target.
Also, the current Prime Minister was very much a liberal, but, historically, he only lasted one more month, and the one after had to fight against the lower house. As currently it seems it's the military that's in control, who knows what will happen.

Edit:
Question: do you think it would be possible to get the Japanase Army/Navy (especially officials) addicted to opium?

I don't think so. Not with the Yakuza around.

Also, escape plans are already included.

@Dadarian, Can I use these generals as Canton-KMT generals?
He Yingqin - Wikipedia (ally of Chiang, historically in 1923 he was working for a Yunnanese warlord, in 1924 Chiang called him for Whampoa).
Du Yuming - Wikipedia (graduate of the first class of Whampoa).

the arrival of Wilhelm Heye to assist in overseeing the training of the new Fengian Academy officers.
Did Weimar Germany not protest against the Japanese? Their military mission is still in Fengtian, right?

Expand as much as possible the arsenals and military industry of Canton (including artillery and air force)
the Canton Arsenal was widely expanded
Did the expansion of the Arsenal manage to create artillery and airplane factories, or was it too advanced?

@Mortenkam Would you mind allowing Soviet aid to pass through your borders this turn? What would you want in exchange?
@Mortenkam, apologies for repeating myself, but what would you want in exchange?

@DanBaque I think I would settle for a portion of the supplies given to Qing China. Of course the agreement would only be in effect as long as the alliance against Japan.

No problem with that, would this addition to the plan be acceptable:
-As long as the alliance against Japan is valid, if the Soviets accept, Qing China will allow Soviet officers and aid to pass to the Canton-KMT, in exchange for a third of all supplies sent to be given to the Qing, and that the Soviets do not use the opportunity to smuggle communists into Qing China.

It seems quite reasonable

If you've no problem then, we'll both write it under the "ally with the rest of the Chinese factions" part of the plans.

Let's call it a dozen in the city, twice that number fled elsewhere in China. Both are alive and are currently in the International Settlements.

Very.

Yes, unless a player comes in and orders something different.

Seized, seized, and seized respectfully by the Japanese.

Can't say, that's cheating.

He Yingqin is a KMGT member and therefore in opposition. Du Yuming just entered the Whampoa academy in 1924.

Their military mission was silently recalled, alongside their general. They were thoroughly disappointed with all parties involved due to their lack of use by the Fengtian Clique.

It can make artillery, though quality is suspect. Airplanes are not produced. Far too early.

I gotta admit, Chinese anti-imperialist Chinese Donald Trump has a high level of entertainment value. I say go for it.

Errrrr the info i had was there is this German general teaching in the academy and that's it. I don't have any grounds to believe there is anyone available for anything else, especially when the academy's defense research during setup received no mention in following turn.

They generally viewed that they would be used to assist in the creation of a more modern Fengtian army, which was roughly what they did historically under similar pretenses although later in the decade.

That is what i assumed to be happening with the general teaching officers, that is why the academy and all those military offices are setup.

Yeah, until the 1930s, any airplanes in China were bought from external powers. I'll eliminate the airplane part from this turn's plan, then.

I think Dadarian meant what the germans proposed to Chiang:

In 1934 Gen. Hans von Seeckt, acting as advisor to Chiang, proposed an "80 Division Plan" for reforming the entire Chinese army into 80 divisions of highly trained, well-equipped troops organised along German lines.

@kilopi505 I am thinking of creating a dockyard: Build a fortified dockyard in Canton, with the aid of soviet engineers, experienced dockworkers from Shanghai sent by Du Yuesheng in exchange for (smuggled Howell Rifles for his guard, money, ...), and anyone with experience/knowledge in the shipbuilding industry.
What would you want for the dockworkers? I doubt political aid will help you, being at war with Japan, but if you want that, no problems here.
