A Lion's Pride (Closed Quest / ASOIAF)

Who? Waifu!
So many potentially worthy waifus... brain... overload...
This one's for you! :p

Okay, minions. Tywin, your lord father, will be choosing whom you marry. However, I know how much you LOVE your waifus, so as a kind and benevolent dictator, I will offer you some input. Choose one of the regions below, and papa Tywin will choose your betrothed from the winning group. This is a VERY IMPORTANT decision going forward. Betrothals are an absolute bitch to break. Choose wisely. (In the spoiler tags are the associated waifus for a region. Tywin only takes the best!)

Yes, I know there is no Ironborn option, and that's because Tywin would rather slit his own wrists than see his heir married to Ironscum. ;)

Fuck ya wolf matez. Princess or bust.

Does that mean I'll change to the reach if it looks like the Crownlands will lose? Yes, yes it does.

Honestly, I'm flipping between Dorne and The North, because Arianne got a really good Health roll iirc, and Alyse would just be great for the ties to the Daynes.

To head off the god damned bandwagon, I'll just ask what you guys expect from the North? They worship fricken trees. The Starks are overdone. They are culturally, economically, and geographically isolated from the other kingdoms. The leading candidate is Lyanna Stark...

Whereas, more Southern kingdoms offer much more tangible benefits. The Reach and the Riverlands are neighbors with the former being the second richest kingdom. The Crownlands offer a closer relationship to the Iron Throne. The Vale offers a connection with a region deeply connected with the Seven, and chances at having your heirs directly inherit. Dorne... is well Dorne.[/DEVIL'S_ADVOCATE]

There are very real benefits to allying with the North apart from me howling at the moon. Brandon Stark (our goodbrother if we married Lyanna) would presumably be marrying Catelyn Tully as in canon. This would bind the three regions (West, Rivers, and North) by marriage just as was intended in canon with Lysa being betrothed to Jaime (but less shit). That's a hell of a powerhouse (particularly against the Ironborn, which makes me wonder why nobody tried this in the Age of Heroes).

There's clearly some shit brewing in the capital with Aerys' second wife being Elia Martell. I'd be willing to bet the Dornish would love for Rhaegar to be out of the picture and Aegon or Viserys to be named heir. Plus there's the bastard born to Lady Darklyn (lol). The situation is not necessarily headed for war yet but it is chaotic.

As such we're probably better off not tying ourselves to that. The Reach does seem appealing (though marrying an older woman just for her breasts may not be the wisest course of action) but we can establish ties there by attending tournaments and taking a Tyrell and a Hightower as two our squires/companions/bestest friends in the world. The North is notoriously more difficult to win over and the one time they got tied up in a southern war they kicked some serious ass and then executed half of King's Landing for treason.

A vote for Lyanna is a vote for a Lannister-Stark-Tully alliance with possibilities of winning over others. Rhaegar has two sisters, maybe Cersei could marry Harrold Arryn instead and Jason or Gerold could foster in Highgarden. We need a strong and centralized power base and you don't get stronger than Winterfell or more centralized than the Riverlands.

Finally, let's actually consider the child Quest-Jaime and Lyanna will produce. We're talking Jon Stormcrown but as our son. The Golden Wolf. The Silver Lion. Goldcrown. AWOOOOOOOOO!

Especially if Ned and Bobby B grow up as good friends and there's another Stark-Baratheon marriage.

That alliance is OP as fuck.

Why I'm not torn on any of the other options.

[] Crownlands
-Elaena would be nice, but that last comment worries me. Me no touchy targ madness.
-Elena's ambitiousness worries me almost as much as Elaena's madness.
-Aemma actually sounds fairly nice, we'd have a 2/3rds chance of getting one of the other two.

[] The Riverlands
-Chance of Tullys. 'Nough said.

[] The Vale
-Sharra is sickly
-Andrea is a lot younger than Jaime. Eww.

[] The Westerlands
-What exactly is the point?

[] The Reach
-The reach'd be good, but the Tarly chick actually manages to scare me with her potential psychopathy.

[] The Stormlands
-All of the ones here are actually kind of decent, but...well, they just don't sound interesting.

[X] Crownlands

I could be persuaded to the Reach, Vale or Dorne, but I think the Crownlands would be our best bet.

[X] The North

Plan Goldenwolf. I am all for a North-Riverlands,Westerland alliance.

Also I echo Cteatus view of the Ned and Robert friendship and ties for the alliance. Maybe with little brother Jaime joining the party...

The Reach is the best choice of the bunch if we want Jaime to exert enormous political power. Even Aerys and the Iron Throne would never be so stupid as to challenge us. There is political power and then there is real power, this real power. If people don't want to go for the Reach then go for Catelyn and the Riverlands as it would make us one step removed from leading two regions.

If neither o those are chosen then marry into our bannerman as no other region is worth anything.

I too tire of the Starks in quests. It's like people didn't bother to read the little notes for each character. Based on those notes, I'm torn between pretty much all the major southern regions; I like the Arryn girls, as well as Catelyn, but then there's pretty Brienne, and the Swan woman who would make a fantastic mother. I'm a bit iffy about the Targaryen girls.

I'm leaning towards the Vale, but brain overload is real.

[X] Crownlands

Whoops, forgot I couldn't vote

Ironically the whitelist doesn't prevent this dumb and flimsily reasoned bandwagoning bullshit @Mazrick, who knew?

[X] The Vale

Vale offers us some of the nicest potential mates personalty and appearance-wise, and a considerable chance of inheriting lands.

[X] Crownlands

Reasoning: Fuck yo Bandwagon
Reasoning2: I think a Royal marriage would give us increased influence on the King himself... and we are just a couple steps away from being King ourselves.

None of the Stark women strike me as having the right stuff to be Lady of the Rock and rule the West in our stead, should we be off doing something or another. Likewise, considering we have brothers, we don't have to marry a Stark to be allied with the North, or to create the alliance. There are enough children between the Lord Paramounts to create alliances twice over.
