A Lion's Pride (Closed Quest / ASOIAF)

I would like to remind you all that we have indeed led the mission until now. The king will be made aware of this no matter what we do. The knight that's helping us seems honorable enough to not steal our glory.
We will of course not gain as much glory of we save Cersie but our family will approve.

Yeah, Tywin will be real happy if Aerys dies and Aegon ascends, what with the Tyrells taking our position as the favoured family and all.
Eh. It's worth noting that that most of the regions of Westeros don't really need to play too strongly at court to benefit. The North, Dornish and Iron Islands benefit the most from the distance from the Crownlands, and the Westerlands are wealthy enough and united enough to shrug off anything the Targaryens might wish to do (in the absence of dragons).

Even if the Targaryens shift in favour of Tyrells, it's not like the Tyrells can push their weight too strongly with the other regions. The crown certainly, but the crown can't push back as much as they'd like, even with the Tyrells backing them. There's a limit to influence and a line between authority and tyranny, after all.

I was thinking more that Cersei's betrothal to Robert probably wouldn't result in their future daughter marrying Aegon.

Plus weren't we pushing for Gerold to be betrothed to one of the Stark-Tully-Arryn females, thus tying us into that alliance bloc? Along with us having ties with essentially the Tyrell's most powerful vassals, thus majorly fucking up the Tyrell's already slightly tenuous hold of the Reach- a lot of the Houses there want Highgarden if I recall.

Or did that not happen?

And then we've got Cersei with Robert I think?
