A Lion's Pride (Closed Quest / ASOIAF)

Character Generation
A Lion Cub

You are Jaime Lannister of the House Lannister, first son of Tywin Lannister, Lord Paramount of the Westerlands, Warden of the West, Hand of the King, and Joanna Lannister, his cousin and lady wife. Born in the year 266 AC, you spent much of your early years exploring Casterly Rock, the greatest Castle in the world. One day you will follow in your father's footsteps and rule the Rock and the West, but as of now, the time to be a page draws near as your sixth year approaches.

Which immediate family member are you closest to?
[]Your father, Tywin Lannister. Your father was the Hand of the King, and the second most powerful man in Westeros. He was seldom at home, and when he was, the man was a ruthless taskmaster. When you failed to learn to read as fast as your siblings did, and the maester declared you might never learn, father sat down with you for hours at a time. This continued for weeks. Afterwards, you read just fine. From him, you learned unrelenting determination and implacable resolve.
[] Your mother, Joanna Lannister. You've heard that while your father ruled the realm, your mother ruled him. While father was in King's Landing, she ruled the Rock and the West in his stead. Where father's dominating presence smashed resistance from lesser lords, mother's gentle nature and delicate touch eased them in the direction she wanted them to go. She often compromised, but her compromises always benefitted the house. From her, you learned deft words and subtle meanings.
[] Your twin sister, Cersei. Your other half. Since you two were born, you have been utterly inseparable. You often play tricks on the staff and your family by switching clothes and acting like one another. She has utter contempt for rules, a quicksilver temper, and treats servants and other non-lions harshly. However, she comes up with the best tricks to play, and you find yourself fiercely protective of her. From her, you learn cunning ploys, deep love of family, and an affinity for willful behavior.
[] Your brother, Gerold. Younger than you by one year, Gerold is an infectious bundle of energy. You two play with one another happily, and leave your sister to boring girly things. The Rock is your world, and you will explore it. As boys do, you scuffle back and forth, but your fights are forgotten as quickly as they begin. The two of you vie for dominance in whatever you do, and somehow you always seem to come out ahead. From him, you learn natural leadership and an inquisitive nature.

Which of the following best describes you?

[] Hear Me Roar: You are a Lannister of Casterly Rock and proud of it. Among the lesser lords and men of the Seven Kingdoms, you shine as a beacon of chivalry. You dream of cutting through your enemies with a shining golden sword and rescuing fair maidens.
[] A Lannister Always Pays His Debts: The gold from beneath Casterly Rock is the source of your family's power and wealth. Only through loaning out this gold, and collecting debts does your family prosper. You will keep track of the debts you are owed.
[] The Trickster's Heir: Lann the Clever took Casterly Rock not by force of arms, but through trickery and guile. You are a straightforward sort but you understand that some problems are better solved through a clever mind, not a strong arm. You will often try to find the most cunning solution to a problem.

You spend many hours daily in lessons with Casterly Rock's maester. After your lord father taught you to read, it has dragged on even further as you made up for lost time. Which is your favorite subject?

[] Reading. Ever since learning to read, you've grown generally fond of books.
[] Combat, Geography, and Warcraft
[] History, Politics, and the Noble Houses of Westeros
[] Math, Economics, and Management
[] None. You hate the boring lessons. You'd rather be out doing things.

Interesting choices. Not entirely sure yet and will be asleep soon so will vote now and revisit in the morning

Get to see more of Joanna, aim for a slightly cleverer Jamie, and a mind for politics. My favorite combo.

[X] Your mother, Joanna Lannister.
[X] The Trickster's Heir
[X] None. You hate the boring lessons. You'd rather be out doing things.

Why?

Tears. Pure and simple. Mazrick, I expect you to make Joanna the most sympathetic, charismatic beautiful character ever. And then rip her away from us and feast on our tears.

Also, I just feel like being schizophrenic with the other choices.

Because if I hear the world optimization one more time I'm going to reach through the internet and slap a bitch.

Our Daddy-O offers more than our mother or the other choices.

Same as Char, almost asleep, this seem to be the best now. I want to focus on the politics more than on the fights, even if I had to control my knee jerk reaction to grind combat. But I want politics Tywin style.

Wait.
Without Dragons how on earth did the Targaryens conquer Westeros?

Or is the No vote more a "they aren't coming back, they're dead for good from when they died" rather than a "they never existed"?
It was a "they are dead for good now".

Joanna because she's a badass. Keeping Tywin in line? Definitely awesome. The Trickster's Heir because its a totally different direction that if we take the first option to be canon Jaime, and the second to be Tywin's protege. Third has more room for Jaime himself, without estranging Tywin. Last choice...doesn't fit much with these two, I know. But its just what I see for Jaime, especially a Trickster!Jaime.

Because if I hear the world optimization one more time I'm going to reach through the internet and slap a bitch.
It's not even all that relevant - all the choices will have some benefit or the other, that's the point of this sort of chargen.

Gentle diplomacy is an awesome skill to have. The traits given gained by spending time with our brother also sound sweet though.
I dont feel like playing someone filled with chivalric dreams and ambitions and cunning for the sake of cunning sounds like it could be disadvantageous a bit too often if we end up being not as good at it as we think we are, even though a six year olds attempts at being as cunning as possible would propably be adorable, especially if we dont upgrade it by spending time with Cersei.
I prefeer to just go for the boring option that gives us awareness of the system of constant trade of favors and debts going on around us. I am interested in seeing how that approach to life will combine with choosing Joanna.
For the last choice anything sounds fine. Politics allows us to know important stuff we need for big decisions.

AU means no Tyrion. I am sad.

Gerold seems like we learn a couple really useful things from him. Leadership is good. Asking lots of questions is also good. Trickster gives us a knack for being smart and sneaky, both very good things. And then combat, because it fits in with what canon-Jaime would like and is expected of a noble. We'll need to at least be good enough to become a proper knight.

@Mazrick, can i make a suggestion? All of your quests are interesting BUT i don't know how to explain it... they all feel the same, it's like you have some type of character design and it appears in all of your protagonist. Your writing isn't bad but is a little mechanichal.

Reaaoning has been largely explained by others already.

All the subtlety.
...Might fail spectacularly, but if we're in position to play the game of politics, we might as well get the skills.

Lets go with the brother for now. I am interested in what a second, healthy and non-dwarf son of Tywin could become with us for influence.

Perhaps a genre shift?

King's Landing. A putrid place. Smothered by the smell of excrement and deceit. Webs of conspiracies stretched across town, and I had to keep watch on every damn thread.

My office is not much to look at. I keep the lighting dim and the furnishings light. I lean back, idly spinning my dagger, before taking a swig from my flask. The client was late. But she'll come. They always do. They know I'm the only man for the job.

The name's Jaime Lannister. Private Eye.

Inquisitive is important, we need to learn to ask questions. Everything else will come in time...

Leadership is important for a wide variety of reasons.

It acknowledges Jamie's straightforward nature while also accepting that the most obvious choice isn't always the correct one. This choice will make Jamie clever regardless of his actual intelligence.

[X] Combat, Geography, and Warcraft

Because Jamie is still Jamie, and these are a few of his fa-vo-rite things!~

So a clever, inquisitive Jamie, who is also a natural leader, with a heavy focus on martial disciplines... sounds good to me!

The brother because hey, he's our brother and we know that Jaime loved his brother in canon. He's also helped us learn leadership and that asking questions and being inquisitive is a good thing. Plus...Gerold is the spare, so we have to keep him on our side.

Trickster's heir I think ties in well with picking the brother as it states we got into lots of scuffles but always found a way to win. Yep, sounds like trickery and cunning were used there. Also, bodes well for any future politicking.

And finally, combat because Jaime was one of the greatest ever swordsmen in canon and if we manage to somehow make that not happen in this quest I will count this as a FAILED quest. Also, trickery and cunning ties in with warcraft.

I feel like this is a really solid combination that gives us an interesting character. First off: Papa Tywin - I think we should establish some closer relations early on, so that we can get away with a lot more later on. Also, he has far higher odds of survival (*cough* Joanna *cough*). The unrelenting determination and implacable resolve is also a great combo, which perfectly leads to... The Trickster's Heir. A Jaime that has a main trait of cunning, coupled with unrelenting and implacable sounds like it'd be interesting to play. Once he sets his mind to it, he won't give up, even if he has to devise the most outrageous and redundant plan imaginable (hey, that's us! SV questers).

No lessons because Jaime isn't some lame nerd. He wants to be out charming girls and showing off his manliness like a normal kid.

Well, I appreciate constructive criticism, but the characters end up similar because similar character generation options are chosen by the same playerbase. Even then, my current PCs are only superficially similar. Harlon and Robin and eventually Jaime have different centers to their characters and would behave very differently in any given scenario.

As far as writing quality... that's why I'm writing all these quests anyways: to get better. If you could be more specific with regards to my deficiencies as a writer, then I could aim to fix them.

However, if you just don't like my quests for whatever reason, feel free to ignore them. There are many other great quests to read and participate in.

[X] Your brother, Gerold
[X] The Trickster's Heir
[X] Combat, Geography and War craft

The only choice I'm torn on is Gerold over Tywin. Flipped a coin in the end. Trickster's Heir actually seems like Riverlands campaign Jaime, which is good.
