A Light from the Shadow (Tolkien CKII)

We can safely assume it is the same elf, as doing otherwise is likely to bite us. That being said, let's perhaps not draw immediate attention to the fact that we are valaraukar. An ex-servant of darkness should suffice for the moment.

[] Assume your Valarauka form
-[] "BOOOH!!!"
--[] Lolz all around and no repercussion whatsoever
---[] Seeing elven lords shitting their pants is actually pretty funny, you shoud do this more often.
----[] Everybody could use a laugh in this dark times

[?] I am the current Chosen of Nienna It has been a long time, it is good to see that Valar value the virtuous though I must ask became the one who slew my lord Gothmog. Surely Ecthelion should have been sent as well? And I see you serve still the line of Turgon, admirable even if he does possess the blood of the secondborn. Though I am unsure of how you felt of his upbringing with Maglor and Maedhros to have been the ones who raised him.

Do not hide who you are, just remind him that you are at the moment on the same side and that while he can slay you, you can also slay him. That and Gandalf is here and can vouch for you.

Nah, he was just sent back to Middle-Earth during the Second Age.

Glorfindel - Wikipedia
he got brought back as a Maiar I believe. Though all elves can return to Valinor annd be reincarnated as who they were in life, just see Finrod about that.

I say we affirm of who we are and that we are currently representing Nienna not Melkor.

I'm confused, do we actually Know Glorfindel for his feat or not? That last sentence suggest we don't, so I'm not sure if it's valid to include information on his feat in our introduction, even though I totally want us to.

You don't, your memories of your time with Melkor are less than perfect. You may remember him as a lord of the Godolidrim and marvel at his great power but you don't make the connection with the Balrog-slayer

yet

That and we could mistake him Ecthelion the one who slew Gothmog, you know the Lord of Balrogs

Is that allowed

Why would we mistake him, though, if we don't know about the whole balrog slayer bit? Is there some other thing in common the two have, and only the two of them? We may as well mistake Glorfindel for any other super-Elf we know.

Also, is there a canonical source about Ecthelion's appearance where anything more is said than the one passage about his silver armor and shining helm? Glorfindel's hair is definitely said to be golden somewhere or other, but Ecthelion's appearance is more ambiguous, yet he is depicted with dark hair everywhere in art. Presumably due to that being a shared trait of he and his kin. If we have anything definite on this, we can rule him out in-character definitely.

This is actually impossible. An elf is an elf is an elf, in Arda.
I'm only referencing what I have read, argue with the ones who claim it to be Gospel truth, Also I will note having to look through History of middle Earth books is not easy considering how many of them they are so don't get too worked up about it

The two were supposed to be close friends both were lords of houses in Gondolin. Ecthelion being the leader of the House of the Fountain and Glorfindel the headd of the House of the Golden Flower. Both slew and were slain by Balrogs in the Fall of Gondolin and both were feared by the forces of Morgoth, that coupled with the fact that our Balrog's memory is a bit hazy he may mix the two of them up, though he may do so until his memory clears.

That said if we do not find some way to avoid conflict with him here we will be facing one empowered with the power that is supposed to be on the level of a Maiar so it will be best to wonder about how we are going to avoid conflict with him since he has experience with slaying Balrogs, though you also have great experience with Slaying Elves.

Just a Question to ganonso will we be able to remember Feanor's death, since all Balrogs were supposed to be present at that battle and had a hand in it. I am only asking because this seemed to be a rather more prominent event that could be harder to forget than others

Shouldn't the question we should be asking is if Morianor was one of those sent to Gondolin

[X] "Hail, Glorfindel, Lord of the Noldori Elves. I feel the stirrings of familiarity when I behold the light of Aman shining from you in the Unseen World, but I recognize you not. I would that this should change, even should I learn that you are yet another one of many whom I wronged in the far past. I am Morianor who the dwarves once called Durin's Bane before my errors were laid bare and my shame kindled into hope by Nienna's tears. I come to Lord Elrond of Rivendell with tidings of Cassarondo that is now known as Moria."
