this is purely speculation, but is the current destination along the coast going to be Fuschia city?
I currently see two Paths
Journey Path 1
Lavender Town to Saffron (Gym?)
Silver Town along the way (Contest Hall ; Chansey time?)
Saffron to Vermilion City (Gym)
Vermilion to Celadon City (Gym)
Celadon to Fuschia (gym)
Journey Path 2
Lavender Town to Fuschia City (gym)
Fuschia City to Celadon City (gym)
Celadon City to Saffron City (gym)
Saffron City to Vermilion City (gym)
What I want to talk about is
✨Seeing the Parents again ✨
The Cycling Road is based on Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line, an expressway. In the games it's for cycling, and I expect it still is, but I also want to put forward the question:
If Holly Mills was willing to drive out to deliver supplies while Violet camped, do you think she or Damon Mills would be willing to give Violet a ride to Fuschia City, or on the way back?
It might be a matter of anxiety for Violet, but having her parents attend her Fuschia, Celadon, and/or Saffron Gym battles might also be good for the family.
If I remember right, there was some discussion on going to Vermillion City first then to Saffron and taking a more western loop in order to reduce backtracking. I'd definitely say that both these Journey Paths as well as that one definitely are valid. And they'd generally provide different things overall just due to the various specialties involved.

I can in fact confirm that if you have a Gym Battle in Fuchsia, Saffron, or Celadon that the Mills family will drive out for it. And are rather likely to just offer Violet a ride along the way afterwards just to spend time with her. Even if Violet would be hesitant to take it, the option is certainly there.
On that note, time for me to close the vote. Looks like catching a Magnemite with Magnet Pull wins. And now Violet gets to experience fun times in the Rock Tunnel. Additionally, Magnemite's stat sheet is now up.

[X] Magnemite
- [X] Catch one of the Magnet Pull Magnemites from the Rock Tunnel.
For that, you'd need to have a Pokemon around it's level. Mainly as without that, the Pokemon either won't be willing to join you or will be too difficult to catch.
That being said, if you're specifically looking for a Metagross, that'll be somewhat difficult in the region you are in. For that you'd likely have to head to a different region, or try your luck in Saffron City in the hopes of finding one that an irresponsible trainer released in the area.
We probably won't be picking up our fifth and sixth Pokemon until near the end of our journey through all the gyms anyway so it's not like levels will be an obstacle to any picks people want at that point. Personally, I've settled on our fifth slot going to a taunt lead of some kind which is preferably either Heatran or Skarmory, and the sixth slot either goes to a synergistic sweeper with Dragonite which for example would include Gyarados, Tyranitar, Lucario, Metagross, or Scizor of which Lucario or Metagross would probably be best. Or it goes to whichever of Heatran or Skarmory we didn't pick beforehand to empower Dragonite's sweeping capabilities further well we rely on Magnezone to sweep where Dragonite can not.
I do want to ask on this note, is traveling out of the region during this gym challenge season out of the question?
Is the sevii isles an option? With mention of Heatran, would the volcanic isles of Sevii, or Cinnabar, be a potential route for one?

It's not out of the question, but I'll be restricting it until you get a few more badges under your belt. And you can go to the Sevii Islands once your Pokemon are stronger, and Heatran could possibly be found in the areas you mentioned, even if it'll be one of the uncommon or rare Pokemon in those areas.
Edit: Expect the next update to be tomorrow evening due to IRL stuff
[X] Magnemite
- [X] Catch one of the Magnet Pull Magnemites from the Rock Tunnel.
Carefully making her way into the Rock Tunnel, Violet felt isolated and alone. The trail she was on was less of a trail and more of a series of spaced-out signposts indicating which tunnels to follow. With the only source of light being her headlamp, Violet felt her nerves stretch to their limit. Calming herself with the knowledge that she had not one, not two, but three backup sources of light, she forced herself to continue following the signs, only stopping to mark her location on a map as she went, ensuring she didn't lose track of where she was.
Making her way towards the Magnemite pack, Violet realized that the last sign she had seen was strangely long ago. Pulling out her map and compass to orient herself, the Pokemon trainer brought Pineco out of her Pokeball so that she had a second set of eyes. The compass was almost useless, spinning around in circles due to all sorts of strong magnetic fields in the area. Putting it away, Violet and Pineco traced their path through the cave, eventually realizing that the sign wasn't pointing the right way. Instead of taking them through the Rock Tunnel, the last sign Violet saw had pointed her deeper inside.
"That doesn't seem right," Violet muttered. Thinking back to the signpost, there had been three branching paths (including the path she came from) and it was an arrow pointing towards the path on the right. "If it was spun around, wouldn't the text be upside down?" Directing the question to Pineco, Violet noticed the Bagworm Pokemon pause before nodding.
Immediately stuffing the map back into her pack, the shy girl grabbed Pineco and began to quickly walk back towards the branching pathway. She didn't know who had swapped the signs, but Violet knew she wanted no part of it. Getting lost in a cave system was dangerous, and while she had taken a more adventurous route, it was only by careful and mapping her way through the cave that prevented her from being lost in the Rock Tunnel.
Reaching the branch without further incident, Violet let out a sigh of relief before pausing. Hugging Pineco tighter to her chest, the trainer whispered, "Do you hear that?"
There was a dull humming sound from the branch she had yet to visit, and belatedly a part of Violet's mind remembered that was where the Magnemites were. Swinging her headlamp towards the noise, the light illuminated no less than four Magnemite, three of whom immediately flinched backward at the light, while the fourth twitched. Realizing it was far more experienced than the rest, Violet put down Pineco and took out Dratini's Pokeball.
Gently tossing it in an underhand motion, Violet smiled as the Mirage Pokemon chirped aggressively. Psyching himself up for the battle to come.
The lead Magnemite let out a metallic hum, sparking electricity from the magnets at their side. Behind them, the other three Magnemite let out a more content sound, as if awaiting the winner of the fight.
Violet smirked, grabbing an empty Pokeball from her waist. Tossing it in the air with a hand, she asked, "When we win, can I catch you?"
The Magnemite slowly blinked their singular eye and Violet glanced down as she felt a faint tug. But she was too late to catch her compass as the Magnet Pokemon used its natural ability to drag it towards them. With a contented hum, they looked at the shy girl, and Violet understood perfectly what they were betting.
Narrowing her eyes, Violet swore to herself that she would not make this easy for them. Flickering her eyes back and forth between Dratini and Magnemite, she started to understand the Magnet Pokemon better by the second. It was mischievous, a bit of a thief, and supremely confident. She could use that.
…She was rather glad that the fight took place here rather than in an arena. Because that was not a pretty fight at all. Dragging on for dozens of minutes, Dratini managed to bait Magnemite into a Wrap, after which Violet ordered a mixture of Leers and additional uses of Wrap while the Magnet Pokemon fruitlessly struggled. While it landed a few lucky blows, Violet had noted it had a bad habit of overusing Thunder Shock. And with the position it was in, it had a hard time landing it, even if around 1 in 4 hits landed. All told, by the time the battle ended Dratini was sore but victorious. And Magnemite was supremely annoyed with themselves over how the fight went.
A part of Violet wanted to apologize for the rather one-sided fight, but Magnemite was tired and wanted to rest. Perhaps tomorrow they would be interested in bonding. For now, however, she had a camp to make.
The Eleventh Week, Pick 1
Pokemon Actions
[] Bond with Magnemite - Your newest companion is going to be a bit more complicated than everyone else on the team. You should lay down expectations, both for yourself and for them.
Exploration Actions
[] Crack Caves - A more frightening method of exploration, delving into the narrowest passageways will cause a level of claustrophobia, but ensure Violet explores the most unique habitats.
[] General Exploration - A more responsible approach, exploring natural sidepaths and offshoots will keep Violet safe, but still provide a level of safety.
[] The Signage - Pineco is rather fixated on the sabotaged sign, and Violet knows someone messed with it. Perhaps you can go out of your way to check on the signs present? You feel as if this is just a small part of a much larger plan ...
Traveling Actions (Can Take 1 of These Only)
[X] Continue Traveling - While it may be tempting to stay longer, Violet doesn't want to stay longer than she has to here. It'd be a little unnerving to remain underground for that long, and she can't shake the feeling that she's being watched.
Social Actions (For socials, it's assumed you keep up a basic level of contact through text, choosing a social means I write it up)
[] Call up your parents - Your parents would appreciate a call to congratulate you on your first gym badge. And it's a little scary here.
[] Call Tetsuya - An old childhood friend of yours, the two of you drifted off recently. He has decided to backtrack and head back to Viridian City.
[] Call Willow - The trainer you recently defeated, she seems fun if exhausting. She has been on a lengthy grind in Cerulean City and has had a few adventures.

Heatran learns explosion as well if we ever pick one up.
