I wonder if removal of the curse will ever be possible. Cervitou fragmented his soul negating it but it'd apparently take archmages 5 decases of soul surgery to remove. Maybe a higher being could do it but probably no one in this court. Guessing it'll have something to do with Lucifer's plot as well.
Probably something about marking us as the Heir of the Demon Emperor or something.

To answer the question if we can get rid of the curse or not here it is :
"The answer is yes. However, magic that destroys by extreme means calls for extreme repairs."

Let's see.

Chapter 3: Days of Glory - Part 3: The Sentence
You answer all of the judge's question, maintaining sincerity and truth in every answer and every statement. Then, as requested, you tell of what happened in great detail. You describe how it started ––– with demons chasing you, and then going to Beronica's hut, her summoning Cervitou to help, and the events that occurred afterward. You made sure to underline the fact that he was doing this merely to protect you, and had no ill intent toward anyone save for the demons.

The attorneys ask you a couple more questions, then, once they are done, they give the green light to the judge.

You are then asked to sit on an empty bench, next to Beronica. Several more witnesses come in, who saw Cervitou break into the vault, and bargain his soul with the minotaur guard, taking the staff and then returning it sometime later. They, too, sit down once the time of their testimony and questioning are over.

Finally, comes the time of jurisdiction.

"Cervitou, son of Jaisa and Awdur the Enlightened," the judge speaks, turning to the black mage. "You were a servant of the Exarchy for over ten years. This court finds you excused of all charges, on the grounds of saving the life of a shielded fellow member and this... girl, as well as the destruction of numerous demonic entities. With that, I proclaim you non-guilty."

The elven judge flicks her wrist. "Court is adjourned."

***

Cervitou exits the courtroom. "You did very well not to embellish the story. It shows maturity."

"Hm?" you look over at him.

"I will not gloss over the aid you offered to me, Artoria Baragar. I do not forget debts," he nods. It's pretty much true. He'd be dead right now, had your mother not saved his life. From what, you have no idea, but he kept his promise all these years. "Is there any way I can pay you back?"

[] "Perform the ritual and give me the power of a dragon."
[] "Become my magic teacher."
[] "Mind giving a friend of mine a few lessons in conjuration, enhancement, and such?"

***

After you are done speaking with Cervitou, the two of you go back to the portal room. Cervitou says his goodbyes to you, then apports you back home, alone.

You still wonder about the place you saw. What was that? The Exarchy? That's the first time you ever hear of anyone such organization. No history books you've ever read or any stories from your mother mention a group, or nation, or organization called 'an Exarchy' or 'the Exarchy.'

You enter the mansion, then go upstairs to your room.

On your way through the stairs in the grand foyer, you hear someone whisper your name. "Artoria..."

You look back, expecting Roland, but surprisingly, you see no one. Is it your mind playing tricks on you? Another presumption that pushes into your mind is that this might be the dragon's spirit trying to haunt you, but that sounds rather unlikely. Besides, the mansion is given proper protective rites every year, so no malignancy could have followed you in here.

You disregard the call, then you return to your room. On your way, you pass by a maid and you politely request for a meal to be brought to your room in a few minutes.

***

You are brought a sandwich with a juicy steak, a bowl of vegetable stew, and a literal piece of cake. Cheesecake, to be specific. You eat, and at the same time, you study some literature. A rather interesting tale of Baragar's adventure alongside with a friendly, if silly demon called Mephisto. The latter character interests you a lot. A demon who genuinely isn't evil, or at least selfish and flawed, is... well, something virtually unheard of. Besides, the book is interesting, even though it may or may not be fairy tales that never happened. At this point, not even your own family know what is true about Baragar.

After you're done reading, you quickly go to the village to hang out with Jaina, and then you spend some time talking with Tavish and showing him Enhancement tricks that you've learned. He makes you quite irritated by the fact that he seems to have already surpassed you in terms of Enhancement.

Once darkness falls, you go back home.

Mother says that starting with the next year, the whole family will go on a journey together. To do what – you haven't the slightest idea. Regardless, you have some time to prepare. Before that time comes, you should probably get to training.

Buffing up our future companion because unlike us, he lacks access to the resources to improve his skills whilst we have plenty. Also, having Cervitou teach Artoria could get Artoria even more of Leona's badside. Also the possibility of Artoria forbidding it. As for the ritual, I am against forcing Cervitou to use black magic again, especially for a selfish and moral ambiguous power boost of which the only reason not to take it. Furthermore, Cervitou may refuse again wasting this opportunity. It would also undone his improved opinion of us if we go from being mature and taking things seriously to just demanding something he has already given good reasons for refusing.

Continuing Physical training as I feel that we should train that to the max early as possible. Strategy and tactics so that we can improve our planning ability. Leaving our sword training as we are pretty good in already and we need to spread out our focuses. For that, I am going for some etiquette because Artoria certainly needs to learn how to politely speak to people rather than being so blunt, abrasive and flippant all the time. Logistics because we should get at least a basic knowledge in how logistics work.

Not wasting our opportunity for the ritual

I still do not believe it is a good idea to take the ritual. Black magic is just a bad idea to indulge ourselves in and Cervitou may just refuse again like he did the first time.

As for the training same one, trying to change our build now is too late and will only slow our progress.

Artoria is only thirteen and that gives us a few to several years to branch out a bit and become more-well rounded.

We were going to train Tavish(it is our punishement, remember?) and I repeat our mother hate Cervitou, the ritual as said the QM is not Black Magic but bordering on it and the people won't care anyway so you are just wasting a power boost just because? If he refuse we are capable of asking for another thing he won't just take back what he said.
We are going in a journey with all our family in a year(so no we don't have years and it is not fun anyway , several updates spanning on years just training and describing little social interactions) so trying to have the basics of everything is a bad idea since we will stay the same as before we killed the dragon without really improving what we already know.

Logistics here is just but a waste of time, we ain't gonna even touch a piece of paper in several years and manage a manor/castle. Unless (Highly unlikely) Leona decide suddenly we should take control of the manor or any fief she may have, we are going to be an adventurer, not a Lord and even if we do like I said it will be until we are near our 18/20-year-old. Even if we receive a fief by some manner(like an award) because of our age, we won't be capable of ruling it and whatever government exist here will put a regent until we are old enough, this is how it works in medieval times.

Tavish is significantly less powerful than Artoria is and the help. And quite frankly, Artoria won't be able to teach much to Tavish because the only thing that Artoria can teach Tavish is Anti-Magic and our skill in that is very basic. Furthermore, I'm not wasting that power boost because you aren't acknowledging is that power boost isn't free and I have decided that those costs aren't worth as per for Cervitou has said. And he has yet to give us bad advice. As for asking again, how do you know that? How do you know that he won't just be disappointed with us for asking such a thing against after explaining why he wouldn't do it and not let us pick another favour instead? I personally consider it more likely that he won't offer us a chance to pick another favour after refusing to do the ritual again. We didn't get a second chance to replace the action we picked the first time that he refused so why should it be different now?

We do have years because Artoria is still a kid and won't be an adult for at least a few years. We can afford to branch out and be less focused on a single build as we have some time until we won't be under the aegis of our family's protection. If we do get into danger that we can't handle, it will because of our own doing or it will be too powerful for focusing on physical combat to be worth it. Focusing on a physical build was useless against Pyndwyn so why shouldn't we branch out a bit?

You are thinking of this option.
-[] How to run a mansion, maintain servants, and organize affairs.

Logistic and Management is basic logistics such as being able to manage a budget, ensuring that you have enough supplies to last over a long period of time, ensuring that we don't have too much stuff beyond our ability to store or carry and so on. Logistics and management is a basic skill that we should have like read & writing.

Oops?
Not a fan of helping Tavish though, I don't find him very likeable. If he can remain silent helper, sure. But he had the nerve to break into our home on our birthday and get selfrighteous over us not letting him "borrow" our possessions.

On your way through the stairs in the grand foyer, you hear someone whisper your name. "Artoria..."

You look back, expecting Roland, but surprisingly, you see no one. Is it your mind playing tricks on you?
So has the possession finally started? In before we find out we're Lucifer reincarnated...

He didn't say it is bad, he just said he won't, but now he owes us a favor and he asks us for anything to repay him and we answer if he take back what he said it shows immaturity and does not respect his own words and it means he is shameless.

This isn't true. The only person who got self-righteous was Artoria.
You are wrong here, no one has the right to break in a house and "borrow" something from it even if you take it back later, here it was Artoria who was generous and forgave him and even gave him a book about magic.

I'd say that was the one example where her moral superiority was completely wellfounded. Who breaks into a child's birthday party, robs them and then admonishes them for having the gall to complain?

*Edit*
I like explosions though, more magic sounds cool. We were told we have a lot to play with and I want to make use of it. We also have time to try new things because Artoria is still young. Going for the ritual because our mum probably won't want Cervitou teaching us and I like him too much to inflict Tavish on him.

He called it Black Magic right here:
Black magic like that is something I shan't partake in," he shakes his head dismissively, trying to show his disappointment at your choice.
Black Magic is acknowledge as being wrong and evil in this setting.

Furthermore, you are being so one-minded in your reasoning. Offering us a favour for showing maturity and then revoking it after Artoria instantly shows great immaturity doesn't make Cervitou shameless nor does it mean he doesn't respect his own words. If anything, it does mean he respect his own words as he is being consistent in how he acts and follows through on what he says. If we botch up on asking for a favour, Cervitou might decide that the best way to repaid his debt is to do so by taking actions that benefit us without our input.

Our strengths just proved to be useless. Branching out and getting a few more tricks that we can use is a good idea because simply trying to beat things harder isn't going to be a valid strategy. It certainly wasn't against Pyndwyn. Furthermore, I don't get why you are so insist that we won't have any more training after the journey. We can do that, keep out of trouble and then do back to training. Furthermore, your plan doesn't involve being at our best. It isn't being your best to double down on something when it fails to work.

Please read what I wrote.

I never denied that Tavish broke into Artoria's bedroom or anything else. What I am arguing against is Tavish getting self-righteous about it because he didn't. If you want to claim otherwise, then I am going to ask for evidence to back up that claim.

No, what you argued was that Artoria was the one getting selfrighterous, not Tavish. As seen when you said:
This isn't true. The only person who got self-righteous was Artoria.
I'd argue, and have, that breaking into a child's birthday party clearly puts him in the wrong. Assuming that, I think saying something like:
"So much for heroism..."
when said child doesn't want to allow the intruder she caught rummaging through her drawers to take her possessions, is selfrighteous. I think this because I don't believe he has a leg to stand on when it comes to making moral judgements.

For added clarity, the definition of self righteous:
"having or characterized by a certainty, especially an unfounded one, that one is totally correct or morally superior."

If it was really Real Black Magic, then why people reaction is this :
Well, it's not quite at the level of: "She might be worshipping demons," or "She's probably into black magic," but it's like: "She's into some weird crap, alright."
You are wasting an opportunity, Cervitou is only doing what Merlin did to Arturia in the Nasuverse.

You are contradicting yourself by adding Physical Training in your plan and not replacing it by more tricks like you said, keeping our training with swords is necessary since we won't attack Giant Beasts anymore but more against reasonable enemies where skill might be necessary and I agree "Countermeasures" didn't help us that was an error for my part, I replaced it by "Explosion Magic".

You want proof here it is :
"Don't make your problems other people's problems," you give him a mean look and prepare to shut the door to the study on him. You intend to return to the party, of course. The only reason you are doing this is that you don't have the cruelty to throw some poor peasant boy out.

He sighs, "So much for heroism..."

As the door creaks, you slowly closing it, your hand stops. You open the door again.

"What did you say?"

"So much for heroism?"

You pull him in. "You're saying I'm not heroic enough, Mr. Merlin?"

The brutal assertion he made really hurt your feelings. It's like a dart throw with your eyes tied, but he hit a bullseye against all odds. That one specific sentence. That specific combination of words is what made you reconsider his bargain.

"I didn't say that," he amends, probably just because he doesn't want to hurt a girl's feelings.

You scoff. "I'll show you heroism!"
He was complaining about the heroism of Artoria while breaking in a house...

That isn't self-righteousness. That is getting disappointed. He wasn't complaining or felt he was being treated unfair, just upset at failure.

Except the ex-Black Mage has excpilit told us it was Black Magic.
I never agreed to bind anyone's soul into anything. Black magic like that is something I shan't partake in,
For the Nasuverse example, you do realise that your example is a bad thing right? Not something to be emulate? Your argument here is saying we should do something because it is just like something that is something you shouldn't do.

Furthermore, it isn't wasting an advantage as indulging in evil for more power isn't a good thing nor it is something to be desired. You are too focused on seeing a 'free' power boost when it comes with costs and we have been explicit told in an update that is a bad thing.

I not contradicting myself. You are just failing to understand that things exist outside of combat. Our physical stats will apply outside of combat so it is useful to train them up. For example, Stamina will prove useful when performing tiring activities and agility will allow us to move faster.

You completly ignored the quote of the QM there.
Here it is but needless paranoia, Who do you trust more the word of a in-universe character or the explicit word of the QM? The QM himself said it border on Black Magic but it is not Black Magic and even if it was people's reaction won't be the equivalent of "Meh", Cervitou here is just being overprotective and you are wasting a priceless favor for Tavish when it is unneeded even if we are not capable of training him effectively there is our legal magic teacher who can help Tavish (in my Plan)

Moving faster why? Because you need to dodge in a fight . Stamina? To keep up in a fight or in athletic activity unless somehow a near-superhuman can exhaust himself while cooking/singing? You are saying Physical Stats will be useful outside of combat for what? Say it, what's tiring for a near-superhuman apart from fighting or sports?

You completly ignored the quote of the QM there.

No I didn't. I just deem it to show what the average person would think about the action rather than whether or not it is actually Black Magic while Cervitou, an ex-Black Mage, explicitly told us it was Black Magic.

The QM never said it wasn't Black Magic. He said that the average person would see what Artoria has done and consider to be not quite Black Magic, but still pretty bad. Remember the rest of the post?
Eating souls is generally looked down upon by almost everyone except people that do it. No matter what soul, or what gain you get from it. But since the dragon was really malicious, evil, and no one really minds if its very soul was destroyed, people are less inclined to dislike you because of it.
It is a bad thing that almost everyone looks upon as a bad thing and we would get more of a pass only due to Pyndwyn being an evil dragon.

Basically, your quote says that the average person wouldn't consider it outright Black Magic, but still a bad thing that would turn people against us if they knew about it and that they wouldn't dislike as much due to the soul being used being an evil, inhuman monster

Given what has been shown of it in the updates, I am inclined to believe that the ritual isn't worth it is. Partaking in Black Magic and making us into a social outcast isn't worth gaining power. The ritual is an evil way to gain more power and I am against that because it is evil and we gain nothing from it apart from power. Furthermore, there are various indirect costs and negatives of doing it, but those are secondary to me because I am committing evil for power.

Because of that, I am against the ritual option, especially since doing that is basically reversing Artoria's recent character development as she will just revert to making a selfish, immature demand for no good reason. As for asking him to be our teacher, I am against that due to how Leona will react to it if she finds out, especially since Artoria is already in trouble.

That leaves the Tavish option which I think is good for several reasons. First is that it cements Artoria's latest character development as not only does she show maturity by not insisting on partaking in Black Magic, but she takes a selfless action to help a friend without prompting rather than using this opportunity solely for herself. Furthermore, Tavish will benefit from it more as he lacks access to proper magic teachers that Artoria can easily find via her actions and it also strengthens Tavish as a future companion on Artoria's adventures. Especially since Artoria is unable to teach more to Tavish herself (Artoria would learn more from Tavish than the other way around).

Because of common sense? And it says so in the descriptions of the stats? Because it happened in this very update? Furthermore, Artoria isn't near-superhuman, just above average.
