Update 2: Week 1+2 on the way to Mithra
-[x] Mithra, a Hiveworld depopulated by Traitors, more Traitors, Orks, and then Traitors again
-[x] on the frigate "Soul of Fear". You're the highest ranking tech priest, but that also means you have to take care of maintenance and stuff.
-[x] hopefully your useless second is actually honest, rather than useless. Teach him how to make stuff, so he can help you make stuff.
-[x] Help your Genetor make some better Mechandrites. His are just embarrasing. Hopefully he learns something. And maybe he'll actually work willingly, that's been known to happen. You hear.
-[x] order some maintenance. Maybe you can get something out of it
(1 locked in if frigate is taken)
-[x] have them built some of the easier parts of the lascannon. Means you'll save some time
-[x] have them upgrade the facility
Turns out it was a good idea to teach your new underling how to help you. Not just because he proves to be temporarily useless instead of permanently. You'd never really
made much of anything yourself. You know how it all works, but it seems that there's more to it than just that. Given that you're brilliant, you manage to come up with ways to improve the results, speed up the building, and compensate for the horrible local facilities. And you teach your underling some of the tricks. As much as he can grasp.
(gain 10 crafting, less useless underling)
After going over lasweapons, and lascannons specifically, you talk about improving his current augments. He only spends two and a half days locked in the lab before you let him out. The results are
1d100+5 Facility+2 Craft= 50+7=57
thoroughly mediocre. Then you give him a archeotech-bioscanner to mount on them. It's
1d100 +5 Facility+5 Craft+20 Archeotech = 13+30=43
really bad, which is why you were able to get it so quickly. Only your skill allows you salvage it. The result of your combined efforts is better than what he started with, but that's not saying much.
He does seem to like his new mechandrites, if only for the prestige of archeotech. Though now he seems to suspect you're up to something nefarious. Of course you are, you're a Heretek after all, but nothing that concerns him. In the end,
1d100+5 Teaching +15 Bling -40 Awfulness= 56 -20=36 vs 50 FAILUR, no improvement
that suspicion seems to overwhelm any gratitude for your generous help.
(gain 2 crafting, less embarrassing underling)
Turns out your underunderlings (weird to have those now) prove to be as incompetent as ever. Which means the door between your office and your workshop still needs to be venerated three times a day. However, the ship's not falling apart, so things are no worse than normal.
(gain the satisfaction of making others do their job)
You would like to claim the work done in the workshops counts as routine maintenance. It really should. But the standards here actually mean it qualifies as an upgrade. You're pretty sure you got put in charge of the only non-mechanicus vessel in an Explorator Fleet. You'd also like to say that such simple work is progressing quickly. But that would require incompetence. Sadly, the rank and file doesn't even manage that. They really send you the dregs.
(10/50 progress towards better facilities)
In better news, foisting your workload off on them does work, to a degree. Not having to bother with all the small stuff should significantly boost your own production. You still need someone halfway capable to do the lens adjustment and laser cavity, but underling can do that. As long as you keep an eye on him.
(gain parts for 25 Lascannons, gives 50% production bonus while they last)
Hmm, as it stands, on your own you should manage 11 cannons every two weeks, while he should be able to make 6. With parts, it would be 17 and 9. The journey to Mithra will take at least two more weeks, or as much as twelve, six on average. The astropaths don't predict any special currents, good or bad, but who knows with the warp.
You're options are:
Personal :
(can all be taken multiple times)
-[] make some lascannons. You now have some help, but that order is still gonna take a while. Better get started.
(can be taken multiple times, 26 cannons per action)
-[] your second has proven to be acceptably useless. Maybe you can make him even less useless.
-[] you don't know anything about making fleshy monsters. Or just flesh. That is unacceptable. Get your Genetor (at some point you probably should look his name up) to teach you. You don't think he would enjoy it much, though.
-[] you should brush up on your skills. Ever higher, even if the local facilities represent a plasteel ceiling. But you can definitely rise up in
[Imperial tech, Repair, Craft, Combat, Management]
-[] you learn something new everyday. Now, you'll try to learn about [Flamertech, plasmatech, Boltertech, Math, Hacking]
-[]getting better gear up and running is taking forever. You better take charge and show them how it's done
-[]the reason getting better gear is taking forever are your dreadful underlings. Fix the problem at its root
-[]Naw, you'll do something else
Offical
(can all be taken multiple times)
-[] order some maintenance. Maybe you can get something out of it
(1 locked)
-[] have them built some of the easier parts of the lascannon. Means you'll save some time.
-[] have them make neatish stuff. Always useful
-[] have them try to be less awful. Man can dream, right?
-[] see if you can swap some out for less awful dudes.
(Warning, involves talking to people)
-[] have them upgrade the facility
-[] order a thorough inspection of the ships plumbing. It won't help anything, but it'll make you feel better.
Taken together, that means the best use of your remaining time is
(choose 2 personal and 3 official actions for every pair of weeks. Use the format for easier vote counting. The ship may drop out of the warp before all actions are up)

AN: Take your time to discuss things. Now that I'm not sick anymore, things will slow down anyway.
