Well I can see our decent into Heretek or renegade status beginning in short order. If we live, it means we've killed an Inquisitor. And said organization tends to take that sort of thing very poorly.

We may not if there are any survivors or way for information to get out. Also Mars will most likely have our backs if we say we have archeotech.

Well what ever the hell it is were sprawled to is important somehow, no mention of most of the big issues were used in the Inquisitors negotiation attempt (Xenotech, Heresy or Abominable Intelligence). So odd are its less dangerous in the kill everyone way and more dangerous in the concerning implications sort of way.

Assuming the Inquisitor is not being deceptive about the nature of the devices threat, then it should be valuable enough to get protection from superiors.

Or useful enough we can use it to massively enhance our own abilities.

Or more likely they cut a deal with the Inquisition for the 'accidental' death of a no-name Magos on exchange for getting to take a look at said archeotech. Half decent relations with the Inquisition are more important than us to them.

That's a possibility, but Mars also has a reputation to uphold and killing its high priests is not helping said reputation. Magos are important enough.

1. We aren't anywhere near a high priest and we do not have any real political power in the Machine Cult.
2. We wouldn't be killing us. It would a horrible accident that nobody saw coming.

On the other hand, technology is exactly the sort of thing that belongs to the remit of the Admech. This is not Xeno or Warp based, and it has no AI. As such, it is literally our holy duty to bring it back to the Admech. We may get screwed by politics, but the Admech cannot allow the Inquisition to just get away with deciding to take any tech they deem dangerous either. In theory, an Inquisitor can do this, but in practice the Admech would throw a fit at someone taking their holy technology from them.

Can you tell when he gave the order to kill everybody?
Hmmm... not directly, though I can point towards likely spots.

Probably more effective would be to view it from the Inquisitor's perspective... and from that perspective, it's likely that the order was in the wings from when his troops first fell into formation for travel. There was likely a short period after we changed course without warning where they were out of position, and the order probably came down there, with them maneuvering to position during our speech.

I'm rather impressed with our inquisitor, to be honest. That he at least tried plans A through D before doing this speaks well towards his patience.

There have been cases of factions keeping tech from the Admech.

If memory serves some Space Marine chapters have designs that they haven't forked over the specs for to the Cogboys.

Yes, but that is not giving them tech. It is not taking away tech the Admech has found and reclaimed. One is something that will piss the Amech off, the other is pretty much striking at the core purpose of the Admech. They can overlook a chapter not handing over STC patterns for some unique tank. But having tech directly taken away from the Admech? That cannot be tolerated.

Actually I don't undetstand what this guy is thinking. Cognis manipulator will tear him apart even if we're dead, it's designed to react to threats on his own.

To no one's surprise things have gone belly up. I say we spring our traps, shoot the stuffing out of everybody, incinerate the remains and bomb the fuck out of this building.

Actually I still consider keeping him alive. Killing Inquisitor even in self defense is bad. BTW, what do you think, servitor made out of Inquisitor is still an Inquisitor? It's not even impersonating, you know.

If we win and he's still mostly intact we have options but we go all out to win the fight first which includes putting him down.

Patching him up and leaving him on the nearest inhabited world wearing only a Rosette and a loincloth (damn you Gene, you are too soft!) could only lead to good things.

Here is the thing, we leave this guy alone, he is gonna come after us at some point and then he will be bringing the heavy cavalry with him. Inquisitors aren't feared because they have the biggest guns or the most bodies to throw at, it is because the reputation is enough to move mountains.

This guy is not gonna stop until he gets what he wants. All possibilities of negotiation went south when he opened fire. Let us finish this and continue on our mission.

Lol this sounds like a bad dark comedy set in 40k. Omake material if someone is interested.

This guy seems kinda smart, if a bit (a lot?) homicidal. We are able to strike a deal with a lot of blackmail and mutually assured destruction involved, if we get him. Which can happen - this is Plan E, you know, not many contingencies left that matter.

It's up to @BurnNote, but I'd say that it's recorded from 30 viewpoints, which is as much of a boon as it is of a problem.

I find the reaction to the last update rather amusing. Lychinus clearly has affected you.

So to clear things up: Those rolls? They're not about whether you can win. They are about how badly you lose.

My guess is either 'do get up' gesture from previous update or 'lack of cooperation' phrase from most recent.
The second one it. After that, he started stalling.
