A Game of Supers (The Gamer/Original Superhero Setting)

Again, the "nobody is complaining about Engineering" argument is wasted on me. I literally don't care.

Vague makes it useless. Because otherwise we can minmax for all vaguely worded skills to give us godlike power in the matter of days. Unless you see @Kinni breaking the setting like that, it's more than unlikely for it to happen.
Claiming apathy does not support your side of the debate, but rather its abandoning it.

No, as I already said, I think he will make it nonexistent, break it into smaller skills.

Going with this thing

If we manage to get hacking to a decent level we should be able to hack a bunch of databases to get more information.

I bet there are many groups that collect data on supers.

That's honestly great and it is something to definitely work on in the future, but finishing the two skills that are close to completion is more important than that right now, in my humble opinion.
Getting our bonuses for skills that we actively use is more pertinent than picking up a new set that were aren't.

Ok but that still should leave plenty of databases that we can get to.
Alright, but then it's a question of if said database would have anything useful. After all, the group is small enough to be unable to afford such security.

Of course, the fact of the matter is that we don't know. Magical security might be super rare, or it might be fairly common place. And as such, hacking might be super useful or we might need magic skills. We need to look into what magic is capable of here.

Well in that case hacking would help us find out which groups have magic which is a good first step to getting magic of our own.

We could probably also just use Google. After all, if a bank or something has magical security I'd think they would advertise it. We could probably also find groups selling their magical security services.

Of course it is also possible that magic computer security is not a thing and that we can hack a magic group to learn magic.

Course, but there are more possible outcomes where hacking isn't that useful than there are outcomes where it is. So like I said, we should find out before we put work into it.
Well hacking would have been very useful when we were scouting those houses. Also hacking is a much safer and profitable way to make money then breaking and entering.

It wouldn't have been that useful. Even if she kept much important information on her computer/phone (she might practice good info sec), we'd need a pretty high skill to get into her stuff in the week we had, especially around all the other stuff we were doing.

What ways could we make money with hacking that isn't risking running afoul of the hypothetical magical security?
And anyways, there are MANY safer and easier ways of making money than breaking and entering. Topping the list, get a job. We can become the best at whatever we do, and many trades pay A LOT of money for extreme skill. If we can't pass ourselves off as a normal prodigy we could admit we have powers, but under sell our power. Super Masseuse Skills would hardly attract much attention for example, or become a Magician (sleight of hand kind). Going to less than legal options, we could become a drug dealer rather safely and easily, or become a con artist, or pick pocket, or anything else. Lots of options safer and easier than breaking and entering.

Not robing places that would have magical security? It can't be everywhere or even most places. If it was then how magic works would be known.
I'd think all banks would have such security. After all, Banks aren't exactly short on money to purchase magical services. Not all places need the security, just all money places. Wayne Tech could have crappy security, but we can't get a penny out of them without accessing their bank accounts, requiring hacking the bank.

Plus, how do you know that how magic works isn't known? We, the audience, know very little about the world. That's why we have to find shit out. Like the Rules of Engagement, we had no idea what they were till Kinni told us, despite it being a generally widely known thing.

@Kinni does Acting help us know when someone else is lying? Our own understanding of how different types of people act under different circumstances helping us notice when people are acting differently than they should?
