[X] Part 1 – Hunting

In the end, you decided upon choosing the part of the plan that involved Hunting. There were several reasons for that: First, your skills were more geared towards that sort of operation. Second, the "tools" you would receive for the operation would definitely be powerful and versatile, exactly the kind of technology you want to know more about. Third, it was highly likely that you would also receive special information about the abilities of the targets, and even if not, you could get it in the operations, and this knowledge was exactly what you needed in order to make even better use of your ability.

After all, you managed to get a skill just from studying a bit of technology, so what if you had other types of resources to explore?

Of course, all that was based on you actually being able to succeed in the mission and make use of that success to obtain what you needed, and all that without arousing suspicion, because Inscrutable definitely had to have ways to keep track of what her "tools" were doing, and be able to override them. That was just common sense.

Your decision made, you just needed to convince the others.

"I believe we should go with part 1 of the plan." You told them.

Just like you expected, they felt reluctant about it.

"Isn't that... really dangerous...?" Susan asked, her face pale.

That seemed to be the opinion of the other two as well, even though Roberta looked like she was reluctant to admit it. Clara barely managed to raise her gaze to meet yours.

That was it, you thought. That was an opportunity to truly make this team yours. They were confused and vulnerable, and thus would be susceptible to a strong leadership.

"Let me ask you girls," You started "why was it that you joined this gang? What made you want to be part of the Inscrutables?"

Susan was the first to answer "I wanted position, power. Things I couldn't get through normal means."

Clara shook her head and spoke with a shaky voice "I just-I just wanted something different... To break away from my daily life..."

Roberta grit her teeth "I didn't want to be the weak one... Not anymore."

You looked at them and thought about what you could gleam from those people and from their responses. You could use this. You opened your mouth and talked:

"Susan, you said that you wanted position, right?" You spoke to said girl "Since you knew people in the gang, you should have had smooth sailing." You stopped for a moment "But now this isn't the case anymore. Things have changed too much, and soon connections will mean, if not nothing, at least very little. The best way to actually get power in the gang is to be useful, to excel. And we have such an opportunity right here."

Letting her think about it, you turned to Clara "You wanted a different life, right? I won't presume to understand what your normal life is like. Perhaps you're struggling, perhaps you are just bored, but that's not the important part." You paused for effect "But you wanted something different. And now things are changing for you. This should be a good thing, but they are changing too fast, and you are afraid of what may happen." You nodded "That is reasonable... So that is the reason why you should grab hold of the opportunity and shape the way you want things to be!"

And finally it was time for Roberta "And you... You want to be strong, don't you? You want to be strong enough that you can't be hurt anymore. Well, this is a chance to obtain that strength. I bet none of the powered people of this city feel any threat from normal people like you. They are secure in their strength." You stomped the ground "But they should be afraid. We now have the means to topple the powerful from their thrones and leave them lying broken on the floor. This is a chance that few people ever get... And I refuse to let it slip." You spoke with conviction.

"In my case, I always felt that the world was too messy." You said your true feelings "I wanted a way to obtain control in the face of so many beings of unnatural power, so many great organizations, so many secret plots and associations..." You clenched your fists "And I believe that I can do it. I believe that we can do it. We can truly do something amazing... We can overturn everything... But my biggest belief is that, if we shy away from that opportunity, we are always going to regret it. And I believe that would be the worst outcome of all."

You could see that your words were having an effect, so you kept going "So I want you to trust in me, and trust in yourselves. We are going to fight, and we are going to win. I promise you that nothing will be able to stop us." You extended a hand, palm down "Will you join me, and make our dreams come true?"

There was silence for a few seconds, but your eyes never left the three girls, and you radiated confidence. The first to put her hand on yours was Clara, then it was Roberta's turn, and finally Susan did the same.

"Thank you. I promise that you won't regret it." You said, and they nodded.

Personal Manipulation Level 7

- The skill to understand what makes people tick and how to make them tick your way. At this level, you can seize opportunities to manipulate people based on their emotional state, with a big chance of success.

And that was the cherry on top.

You informed the contact of the decision, and she sent a message via the laptop and then handed it to you.

Looking, you could see that the laptop was now clear of almost all information, with the only thing still remaining being a notepad file titled "Location 1". You opened the file and saw that it contained very little text, only an address and two strings of eight random characters, presumably passwords.

Looking up, you could see that the contact was watching you.

"Almost done?" She asked.

You thought for a moment "All done." You said.

You didn't have any trouble memorizing that small amount of information.

The contact got the laptop back and set upon getting rid of that information as well. You turned to your team mates and said:

"Let's go see what those tools are all about."

+0+

The address was located on the commercial part of the city, nearer the border than the center. It was a medium sized house of a single floor. Its door was locked with a keypad lock. You three separated and went there on your own, and you arrived second, just after Clara.

The other two arrived soon after that. You entered the first of the two passwords and got it to open, finding out that the inside was a pretty normal house, complete with kitchen and bathroom, meaning it could serve quite nicely as a base of operations if needed.

However, the most important part of the place was a hatch heading downwards which had its own keypad log. Everything made sense as soon as you saw it. That should be the hiding place of whatever tools had been set aside for their particular mission.

That was in fact one of the first things you noticed after entering the house, and you were really anxious to see what was inside, but you held back and led the group into checking the rest of the house first, just in case. Still, eventually you did put in the second password, and the four members dropped inside the hatch.

The place they were in was somewhat similar to an underground parking lot, in which it was a closed space with vehicles and a tunnel leading upwards into the outside world (from what you could tell, it would exit a little bit outside the city itself).

But instead of cars of something similar, the vehicles inside were in fact advanced military robots that were designed to be piloted from the inside, eight in total. Each of them was as tall as a truck and as broad and long as a tank. Their design was only slightly humanoid, with two "legs" ending in threads, two "arms" that were more like weapon platforms and a stocky "head". Everything was very blocky and reliable looking.

You immediately got suspicious. Simple and reliable were two words that did not mix together with Inscrutable's usual inventions. Small things like the shield generators were still fine, but anything bigger was pretty much always a kludge, and each new model was completely different from the previous one. Those, on the other hand, each had a completely identical base design, with their weapon platforms being the only difference between each of them. Had Inscrutable's preparations included getting an outside weapons supplier?

You put the thought to the back of your mind, as it wasn't relevant at the time. Instead you walked towards the platform that surrounded the robots and climbed its stairs. There you found an envelope containing an external drive and a note saying 'Check the drive for instructions'.

Knowing that it would probably be a bad idea to try and move the robots without checking those, you reluctantly got down from the platform and led the group back into the surface part of the house. There was a computer there, and it very emphatically did not have any network connection, making it perfect for looking at the information on the drive.

You commandeered the chair in front of the computer, leaving the other three no choice but to crowd around the desk to try to see what was going on. The drive contained two folders: tools and info. You checked tools first.

In it there were eight numbered folders along with a notepad file titled 'read this first'. You followed the command.

Apparently, each of those folders contained the specifications for one of the robots inside the storage. Their group was allowed to choose four of them, one for each member, to take possession of for the missions. The other four would be 'returned', apparently.

Looking at the specification, you saw that in general, the robots were all pretty similar, with the same average levels of resilience and mobility, as well as the fact that their secondary tools all had the ability to interface with the proper personnel-type equipment, which would be provided to the gang members that would serve as extra manpower for the operations, fifteen per robot.

The main differences between the robots were in those "secondary tools", which were in fact the main utilities of the robots. Looking over them, you had to decide which four robots your group would be taking into battle.

They would be... (Choose four)

[] 'Shield Type'. Capable of producing energy shields from thin air, up to a distance of 12 feet away from it. Interfaces with shield technology to power up nearby personnel shields, as well as fuse them together to create broader or thicker defenses.

[] 'Heavy Weapon Type'. Equipped with four energy cannons, each one designed for a different kind of destruction. Piercing, material dissolution, explosion and thermal. Interfaces with energy cannons, allowing for better aiming and focusing multiple beams together.

[] 'Hyper Mobility Type'. Designed to allow mobility under any environments or conditions, this model is equipped with multiple different propulsion jets, some allowing for unparalleled 3d mobility while others granted supersonic straight line speed. Interfaces with jet cycles, allowing the creation of a platform for transporting other units.

[] 'Restraint Type'. Equipped with a variety of functions designed for limiting mobility, some anti-personnel and some anti-vehicle, all depending on the matter generator, which was programmed to create nets, slick substances, road blocks and similar. Interfaces with specific anti-mobility tools, allowing for greater strength and range.

[] 'Light Weapon Type'. Designed as an anti-personnel unit, this model is equipped with a variety of ballistic weapons, covering all ranges, with both lethal and non-lethal options. Interfaces with personnel level ballistic weapons to allow for more precise targeting and unit command.

[] 'Stealth Type'. Capable of both light and thermal cloaking, as well as equipped with sound suppression systems and close range weapons, this unit was designed for both intelligence gathering and assassination roles. Interfaces with personnel cloaking devices, allowing for longer operation, as well as long range sensing.

[] 'Melee Type'. Designed as a frontline combatant and siege breaker, this units secondary mechanisms are composed of mobility, strength and defense enhancers, as well as a customizable laser melee weapon. Interfaces with personnel enhancing belts, allowing for greater enhancement, and temporary supercharges.

[] 'Anti-Tracking Type'. Capable of a variety of jamming tools, as well as sight impairing ammunition such as smoke bombs. Ideal for hit-and-run operations. Interfaces with specific anti-tracking tools, allowing for better control and focusing.

Regardless of what they chose, they would receive the interface equipment, and the gang would send members to fulfill the roles of rank-and-file.

The info folder was pretty similar to the tools one. There was an explanation file, and folders for each of the superhumans in the city, with the exception of Inscrutable herself. You nodded as you looked at the files, the information contained in them was a lot broader and more complete than what you had managed to acquire through your original research.

There was information about the places where they were commonly sighted, as well as their activities, including the sort of places and situations where Mystic Mind would usually attack, and the places and types of crime that would attract the response of the heroes fastest.

Rampage and Mystic Mind had their living locations marked (a small apartment on the commercial zone for the former, and a trailer that spent most of the time on the periphery for the latter). While the two heroines were a lot more circumspect, with Swordsmaster's home being "somewhere in residential zone, north section", while Shadow Crusader's was an even more vague "probably in the periphery zone".

Light Mistress information was a surprise. You had thought that your research had simply not been thorough enough, but apparently she was simply incredibly secretive, using multiple routes of both escape and infiltration, and it didn't help that her criminal acts were too random to form a pattern.

Besides that, the other noteworthy point of information was the contact number that could be used to hire Rampage's services. However, it was noted that he tended to ask for advance payment for his jobs, and refused those that seemed too dangerous.

To sum up the more general information:

- Swordsmaster tended to respond more quickly to attacks on businesses, as well as attacks on the north area of the commercial zone. There, her response time was around 3-5 minutes, with it increasing the more distant the target was to the north zone.

- Shadow Crusader only appeared at night, but her response times were unreasonably fast, depending on the issue. If there was destruction and chaos anywhere in the periphery zone, she was guaranteed to appear in 1-2 minutes, while robbery and other "calmer" crimes caused her to be delayed, yet her slowest was around 4 minutes.

- Rampage was currently in one of his "rest" periods in between attacks, usually enjoying his time on bars, clubs and brothels in the commercial zone.

- Mystic Mind tended to not be too fat away from her trailer, which was under constant surveillance. Her behavior was pretty unpredictable otherwise.

- They had nothing on Light Mistress.

The boss would be expecting results, so within one week, it would be best if you managed to disable at least one of those four. That would give you enough time to get your rank-and-file ready and train for the operation.

Now, as for what the operation would be... That would depend on what mechs you chose, of course. There would be time to plan things out properly after that was decided.

A.N: Next post will have more detailed information about the tools you chose, to make it easier to plan.

[X] 'Hyper Mobility Type'. Designed to allow mobility under any environments or conditions, this model is equipped with multiple different propulsion jets, some allowing for unparalleled 3d mobility while others granted supersonic straight line speed. Interfaces with jet cycles, allowing the creation of a platform for transporting other units.

[X] 'Restraint Type'. Equipped with a variety of functions designed for limiting mobility, some anti-personnel and some anti-vehicle, all depending on the matter generator, which was programmed to create nets, slick substances, road blocks and similar. Interfaces with specific anti-mobility tools, allowing for greater strength and range.

[X] 'Stealth Type'. Capable of both light and thermal cloaking, as well as equipped with sound suppression systems and close range weapons, this unit was designed for both intelligence gathering and assassination roles. Interfaces with personnel cloaking devices, allowing for longer operation, as well as long range sensing.

[X] 'Anti-Tracking Type'. Capable of a variety of jamming tools, as well as sight impairing ammunition such as smoke bombs. Ideal for hit-and-run operations. Interfaces with specific anti-tracking tools, allowing for better control and focusing.

There were many different opinions about what to use, but in the end the four of you settled with a combination of Mobility, Restraint, Stealth and Anti-Tracking types. That lineup was a little light on direct combat power, but it was a combination extremely well-suited for hit-and-run style attacks.

You sent word of the group's decision, and soon after that, the other mechs were moved out of the basement by strange floating robots. And then the forty-eight rank-and-file members came, along with their provided equipment.

It was time for some testing to figure out the exact specifics of the capabilities of their mechs, so that you could make accurate plans. The minions were equally distributed between the four mechs, so that there were twelve minions with interface personnel equipment for each mech.

The rest of the day, along with the a good portion of the Sunday, was spent in that testing. You took the time to call your father, telling him you were going to spend the weekend with friends. You could tell that he was a bit dissatisfied with you not having even asked permission, but you could deal with the consequences later.

During the tests, all four of you used all four of the mechs, just to see which types you were better with, and to make sure anyone could make use of any of them should a change be necessary.

The hyper-mobility type wasn't very maneuverable at top speeds, but it already had a fair amount of maneuverability when using the '1/4' jets (which allowed speeds of around 625km/h), the '1/10' (250km/h) jets allowed enough maneuverability to be used in urban areas, while the '1/20' (125km/h) jets allowed enough maneuverability for close quarters combat.

When you realized that, it made things a lot more interesting. After all, those numbers easily exceeded those of military grade jets, at least the public ones. You had no information on the special classified units, but the mech you had should at least be comparable to them, which was amazing to think about.

It wasn't all good news, though. Such incredible speed meant that any impacts while moving, even at CQC speed, would cause huge damage to the mech. As such, ramming was not an option. There was even a special system that would automatically decelerate the mech when an impact was incoming.

In terms of combat, it was mostly a harassment unit, equipped with small caliber Gatling guns, and which could deliver blows from the arms capable of denting cars, but only at extremely slow speeds. Every other mech, except the Stealth Type, had that.

As for the jet cycles, each of them had a maximum speed of 300 km/h, with a controlled speed of 200 km/h. While inside, the gang members would be unaffected by bullets, but have no way of actually attacking. Each light cycle could carry a maximum weight of 300 kg, so they could be used as supply carriers.

While interfacing, the whole ensemble could fly at a maximum speed of 250 km/h at limited mobility, but the combined energy shield could stand up to anti-materiel weapons fire and was rated to take at most 10 tons of weight. The area of the platform was 50/m².

All things considered, Susan was the best at using that mech, but not by a large margin.

The restraint type was quite complex. It had a cannon on each arm, to shoot the anti-personnel ammunition, a bigger cannon on the chest for shooting the anti-vehicle ammunition, and an even bigger cannon on the back, for the heavier duty anti-vehicle ammunition (which was far stronger, but had severe limitations on its production).

Each cannon had their own selection of settings for firing. The smallest ones had Net (throwing nets that had a certain degree of durability against knives), Stun (shooting solid balls with low penetration power, but that were very painful to be hit by) and Slip (some sort of watery substance that reduced the friction of the ground).

The medium ones had Crash (specialized nets designed to bind themselves to the ground and capable of holding down cars), Havoc (large metal balls that exploded into a gooey substance that jammed most mechanisms) and Barrier (mini street blocking barriers designed to break any vehicles that tried to cross them).

Finally, the large ones had Englobe (a semi-liquid sphere that closed around the target and that none of the supers in the city had the capacity to escape from), Chaos (small mines that could be set to trigger on contact or be triggered remotely, capable of releasing destructive sound waves that could be modulated from simply causing incapacitation on humans, all the way to destroying buildings at close range) and Dust (an explosion of special particulate matter that quickly spread through an area and caused difficulty breathing on all those who inhaled it).

The range for each of the cannons was upwards of 15 meters, and they had trouble aiming at short range. The auxiliary equipment consisted of 12 masks designed to allow their users to circumvent the effects of the Dust ammunition. Along with twelve bazooka style launchers, and a mechanism that could fill them with one type of ammunition each, but just the small and medium types (12 shots small or 6 shots medium). Each of the bazookas had a max range of eight meters.

The interface with the mechs increased the range of the bazookas to twelve meters, and allowed their shots to be 50% more effective while the mech was in "interface mode" (without attacking).

You were the one best suited for controlling that mech.

The stealth type mech was very simple in comparison. Not only could it become pretty much invisible and inaudible, but it was also capable of entering a "compressed" state, which reduced it to a sphere small enough to navigate corridors inside buildings. Though it wasn't able to use any weapons in that state.

Outside of that state, it had access to a vibrational knife, which had enough power to cut through skin even at its lowest levels of power, with the higher levels being able to cut through walls, but they could not be cloaked at that point. Besides that, there was also an inbuilt taser, powerful enough to affect even resilient metahumans such as Rampage, though it worked better on normal people.

The mech's passive sensing was capable of covering an area of fifty meters around itself, but that distance was halved it there were walls in the way. The more active sensing suite was composed of sonic sensing, thermal sensing and electromagnetic wave sensing, and could reach a distance of two hundred meters, with the more of those used, the better the information gained, but also the higher the chance of discovery became.

The personal class cloaking units didn't have any special sensors, only allowing their users to see what they could already see with their eyes. However, they did include special frequency radios capable of transmitting information to the mech without any risk of detection.

Besides that, as long as at least one of them was at passive sensing range of the mech, they could be used to extend the range of the sensors. 25 meters for the passive sensors and 100 meters for the active ones. And they could be chained together.

Clara was the best at using that mech, which was exactly as everyone else expected.

Finally, there was the anti-tracking type, which was actually very similar to how the restraint type worked. It also had cannons for shooting a variety of ammunition, except there were only two of them, on the arms, and both of the same size. The mech also had special capabilities to not be affected by its own ammunition.

Those cannons also shot specialized types of ammunition, those being: Smoke (short range [10 meters diameter] smoke bombs), Dark (a large scale [100 meters diameter] mist covering that also baffled sensors), Astro (a light sphere that exploded with brightness enough to cause temporary blindness on all who didn't have sufficient eye protection), Sonic (a bomb of sound of long duration, which made it almost impossible to focus while in its range), and finally Pulse (a pulse bomb designed to destroy any and all electronics in range [12 meters diameter]).

Any of those shots could be accurately set to explode on any unobstructed spot in an area of 100 meters around the mech. The auxiliary equipment consisted of 12 grenade launchers, three Smoke, three Dark, two Astro, two Sonic and two Pulse. Each of them had a range of thirty meters normally, but while in a range of eighty meters around the mech, their range was tripled. They also had special helmets that protected them from the effects of the ammunition.

Roberta was the best at using that one, surprisingly enough.

And that was all. All that was needed now was making the plans and executing them. Speaking of that, what would be your plans?

[X] Attacking Mystic Mind first:
-[X] Attacking her at home (Any day – 18:00).
--[X] Try for a Stealth Take Down. Infiltrate her house ahead of time, Clara in her Stealth Bot and us with Stealth Gear and Anti-Tracking Gear. Best Case Scenario, Clara blind-sides her with a Taser. We are back-up in case the first attack doesn't work, and Roberta and men with more Anti-Tracking Gear would be stationed near the building ready to provide cover with their grenades should they prove necessary. Susan and a few men on cycles will be "nearby", ready for evac, both in case of mission failure and mission success.
[X] No.
[X] Learn a useful miscellaneous skill.
-[X] Stealth

You decided to attack Mystic Mind, and you decided to do it Tuesday at 18:00. It would be better to do things earlier, just in case. You didn't know what the other teams were going to be doing exactly, but you were sure that the city wasn't going to remain peaceful for long.

The next thing on your schedule though, was returning home and dealing with your father.

It was Monday, one of the few days in which he could afford to come back home early. And that was what he did. You were waiting for him with dinner already made, and there was a tacit decision to talk about serious matters only after eating.

As such, he went to his room to change and then came back to eat along with you. You talked about casual matters over the food, and you took the opportunity to gauge his mood. He seemed concerned, but not exactly angry. You could work with that.

"Ah... Iara... About yesterday..." He spoke awkwardly.

"I'm sorry." You said, making sure to add enough remorse on your voice "I was just having so much fun, I didn't even think twice before accepting their invitation."

"Right... I was just a bit concerned." Your father sighed "It's the first time you did something like that..." He seemed to be having difficulty putting his thoughts into words "I was worried that you were..."

You decided to help him out "You were worried that I might be falling in with a bad crowd?" You giggled, deciding to have some fun "Don't worry, dad. Compared to them, I'm the one who qualifies as a bad influence."

"Huh...?" He took a moment to understand, before letting out a startled laugh.

"Yeah. I think Clara would faint at the mere idea of things like drugs or alcohol." You kept talking "Most of what we did was talk about technology and superheroes."

"Technology and superheroes are always common topics of conversation among young people, no matter the era. In my time, the most popular was Spark." He noted with a small smile.

"The inventor with all the mech suits, right?" You remembered "She's really impressive. She's been active since the sixties, so a lot of people think she may be some kind of legacy identity."

"Yeah, that's possible, though she has been a lot less active this past decade." He commented "But there is something else I wanted to know. How did you deal without a toothbrush or extra clothes or something?"

You realized the real meaning of his question. He wanted to know if you had already planned to stay there a night and had lied to him about it. Of course you wouldn't say anything that would cause your situation to become awkward.

"I just bought a disposable toothbrush and clothes on sale. I have more than enough money saved up to afford such things." It wasn't even a lie, considering you had indeed purchased those things (or rather, sent Clara to purchase them for everyone) when it became clear that you were going to be spending the night there.

"That's smart. I don't know if I would have thought of that at your age." He said, smiling slightly.

"Also, we talked about it, and we would like to go to the karaoke sometime." You spoke "Maybe I should practice a bit before that though." You looked at him "How about we do that today?"

He looked at you for a few moments and then nodded. You smiled brightly. It seemed like things were still going okay at that point.

The next day, after coming back from school, you called your father to ask for permission to go out. You managed to get him to agree, thankfully enough, as that meant not having to disobey him and cause more problems for later.

You went to the base and went over the plan with the others one more time. The first step was infiltrating Mystic Mind's house while she was out. You were more than capable of picking the lock of the door to allow yourself and Clara (inside the stealth bot in shrunk mode) to get in. You would be wearing one of the cloaking devices and carrying one of the anti-tracking grenade launchers. You decided that the sonic one would be the best for the situation.

Roberta and some men with anti-tracking stuff would provide overwatch and back up, while Susan would be a bit away to serve as evac. The plan was to have Clara decloak behind the enemy's back and down her with a taser.

Of course, that plan meant you would be in danger without a mech if something went wrong, but it was a calculated danger, and there was also another reason why you decided to go yourself:

Mystic Mind, being both a mage and a psychic, could potentially have useful information about such things, and you wanted a chance to get it.

The inside of the trailer was exactly what you had been expecting: A dump. There were clothes strewn about everywhere, the trash was overflowing with packets of instant food, there were stains and dust all over the place...

Thankfully, being that it was a small place, you were capable of searching through it relatively quickly, despite the place being a mess. You focused on trying to find anything that seemed out of place.

Initially, you though that your search would be in vain, but when you checked the pillow (on top of the sofa, since there was no bed), you noticed that there was something hard inside it. You shoved your hand inside it fearlessly, and took out a smooth and spherical gemstone, slightly bigger than a finger, and covered in tiny writing in an unknown language.

You pocketed it, deciding to take a look later, and it turned out to be just in time.

"Boss?" It was Roberta, who had taken to calling you Boss, speaking through the communication system "Mystic Mind is approaching, and she doesn't seem happy."

You were about to ask what she could mean with that, when you heard a horrible scream:

"HOW DAREEEEEEEE!"

There was an impact on the door, and you felt the air heat up.

She obviously knew you were there somehow. You thought it might have something to do with the gemstone, but threw away the idea because it hadn't been long since you got it. It was more likely there was some sort of magical alarm in the trailer itself.

Those thoughts went through your mind very fast before you focused on the task of thinking about what to do. Fighting that opponent on such a confined space was a bad idea, so you gave an immediate order to Clara.

"Go through the window!"

She didn't freeze up in that situation, which was good. Still cloaked and in shrunk mode, Clara flew her mech through the window, which was barely big enough for it to fit, breaking the glass in the process. You jumped through that same window, now glassless, and ran.

There was an explosion and you could tell that the front door of the trailer had opened.

The plan had been very derailed already, so it was time to adapt to the situation. It was far too early to think of retreating. You took a glace around. North of your position was a closed down factory, west was a bunch of houses where Roberta and her men were hiding. East was the limits of the city, a vast green area. South were more houses.

So, what would you do?

[] Stay out. With your stealth, the sonic grenades and your skills in close combat, you might be able to bring her down.
[] Retreat and command from a distance.

Regardless of your choices, perhaps it would be a good idea to shift the battle someplace else. Your favored battlefield would be?

[] Right here. There is enough open space and you can use the trailer as cover.
[] North. The factory was very close, so it wouldn't take much to shift the fight. And luring the enemy inside it could be useful.
[] West. A bit of a walk, but there was quite a bit of cover, and the houses were currently empty, so no problems there.
[] East. A completely open field with no cover at all.
[] South. A bit closer than the west houses, but without the advantage of Roberta and her men already there.
