A Far-Flung Hope (Warhammer 24K Quest)

Psykers have only just started popping up. There has been some initial testing but the results thus far have been baffling to humans and incomprehensible to A.I.

The Dyson Swarm itself could have been built in only fifty years, such was the power of our self replicating servants. However we took our time to constantly check and re-check the construction. Were the orbits perfectly aligned? Were the Conversion Batteries functioning properly? What contingencies were in place in the case of a solar flare? A thousand questions were asked, simulations were run and optimised.
On a government project? Impossible, I don't believe it, I refuse to believe it, more likely they cut some budget, laid down employees so it was delayed for decades. Just like a normal government project.

[X] A Feudal Confederacy
The Terran federation held an enduring and successful Feudal Institution. It both bound its worlds through the good leaderships of elected officials and nobles alike while leaving enough freedom for individual worlds to develop meaningful cultures. This was a product created by convenience due to the sheer size of the Federation and the distance between colonies.

[X] Feudal Technocracy
None of the others is going to have a better time come the Psykers. With this, it's make or break instead of almost certainly doomed.

[X] A Feudal Confederacy
This one makes the best for cannon since human worlds across the galaxy in 40k even before the imperium found them tend to have wildling diverging cultures and ethnicities , plus all the worlds in our sector are going to be cut off for a long long time enough to develop wholly new cultures by the time contact is reestablished , having a shared history and intuitional knowhow for dealing with that would be useful if not vital for long term stability

And voting is over. Feudal Technocracy has won.

This website surviving nuclear war and somehow still exist 21,000 years in the future is highly cursed. Almost as cursed as the concept of "artisanal crafted Megastructures"

The Forum post was from M5, and to be fair I'm fairly certain it was forgotten about for a few millennia before a new forums website stole the name.

As for the Artisinal Megastructures there is both a Doylist and Watsonian reasoning for this. The Doylist reasoning is that I didn't want the Federation to have too many megastructures otherwise they would have taken over the entire galaxy by this point, destroying or suppressing all alien empires which could serve as adversaries to you.

The Watsonian reasoning is that the Federation prized itself on scientific excellence and quality over quantity. The rise of Slaanesh likely subconsciously aided in this pursuit.

That being said there are advantages to have artisanal creations, beyond the increased quality. Reasons that might become apparent to you soon, depending on certain choices.

I'm going to be rolling for the ships you have available between your 5 systems. How this works is that first I will roll a 1d100 for the amount of ships you possess and then I will roll the types you possess from a table. The weaker classes of ships will be more numerous and there are some stronger classes of ships that you will only get one of (if you roll them).

For the purposes of the quest they can be used to defend your territory and ensure trade among your systems. You can choose to pull a ship apart for research, which will render it inoperable but will allow you to make rolls on certain parts of the ship to research.

The ships in question were given to you from mothball, so they aren't state of the art but they're better than what you can currently build.

I'm still getting the unique tables prepared (in case you have some crazy rolls. But expect me to roll in 5 minutes.

Okay. Here we go.

Well, seems you got the DAoT equivalent of an Emperor Class Battleship, 3 Grand Cruisers, the broken remains of a Light Cruiser, 10 Heavy Frigates and 5 Sword Frigates.

Uncover? Yes. The Federation is trying desperately for a way to identify Psykers before they explode and open rifts into the Warp.

Refine? Not really. They're far more focused on the first part. Not to mention there's a lot of cultural bias against Psykers, so refining the gene isn't going to be a massive priority of theirs.

Also writing the next part will come tomorrow, expect it in 16 or so hours.
