Mostly because I'm tired of all the times SV plays the perfectly "rational" character who makes every decision in reference to the long term goals. Play someone who doesn't know where they are going, but just wants to have some fun along the way.
Meh, judging by a browse through TvTropes pages on the characters, and the Superpower Lottery trope page, this is one of those settings where people can have stupidly powerful and abstract powers for no good reason. It's like in Dragonball Z where apparently someone can become strong enough to blow up the planet they are standing on by doing a bunch of training and martial arts moves, or the devil fruits from One Piece that give weird-ass Semantic Superpowers like being able to open doors in people (which causes bits of their body to rotate around without actually injuring them) or using a 'repel stuff' power to knock things like pain or strength out of people, or something.
Plus, Accelerator is here, so we've got some kind of fan-favorite grim nineties anti-hero character who can shrug off nukes or sniper rifle shots because his power is "automatically redirect anything he wants, even if he's not aware of it, lol!" with no limits on what can be deflected or how much energy that requires. So he's basically Brynjolf.
I do not want to have to deal with fuckin' Brynjolf.
Of course, this could still be fun depending on what exactly our power is or our motivation. I vote for 'Stealing life energy'. Stealing life energy is probably the most reliable villain motivation you can get. You need life energy to do stuff with, there are lots of nameless dopes out there who've got life energy in them. Then we just steal that stuff to get stronger! Bam, instant motive for our basic villainy and leaves plenty of room to expand to stealing money, brainwashing people as minions, starting a cult, or fighting the heroes (or whatever this setting has) to keep them from stopping us from stealing people's life energy.
