A Catgirl's Last Chance for High School Romance - COMPLETE

[ ] Miyako's right on this one, sorry Erika. She's been working on getting this costume together AND been making it pretty clear that's what she wanted to do from day one.

[X] Both of you shut up! You're giving me a headache and I don't care who does it as long as it gets done!

Yea stressed Kitty is stressed and needs to spend a few days cuddling her girl.

Edit: @GGreader you might want to put an X inbetween the brackets in place of the empty space.

The choice shouldn't be a matter of what either of them deserves, but what makes sense for Hanako. And Hanako is frustrated, stressed, full of self-loathing, and clearly ready to blow up at someone. It sucks for the two of them, but Hanako's priorities aren't going to necessarily be at "What is most fair for them" right now.

That's part of my point. I guess I should've clarified, but I don't think it would be something that Hanako would do based on what we've seen of her. She has established a tendency to internalize her problems by this point and I don't think she'd lash out like that on something like this.

This statement confuses me. If we want to do that then getting pissed off at her does not seem to be a good idea.

Internalizing problems just means that they'll explode at a different time, and often times it doesn't take that much for the person to then break, especially when it is something that irritates them. I'm a big time internalizer and I often end up exploding at little things that wouldn't cause me to blink an eye, or in ways that are totally out of character for me at other times. Rage and pain and sadness do funny things, especially when you let it build and build and build.

45. Noise, noise, noise
You take a breath and try to compose yourself as you look for the word to answer the question that's been put to you. God, you do not want to answer this. You don't even care! You just want this to go smoothly so that you can go into summer holidays feeling relaxed but no. As your moment to catch your breath stretches out just a little longer, Erika starts up again.

"--I'm not flat anyway! You shouldn't say that kind of thing to someone, especially your upperclassman!" You grit your teeth. No. No. You don't have the patience for this, you don't want to deal with it any longer. You're going to stop this before it goes any further. You stand and slam your hands down on the table, your ears pinned back in anger as you glare daggers at the rest of the table. This is stupid. It's all stupid. Don't any of them have other crap to worry about? Huh?! The others jolt and start, all of them turning to stare at you with wide eyes. Good.

"Shut up! Both of you shut up! I'm getting a headache just listening to the two of you argue about this! I don't care who wears the stupid costume, I don't care which of you has the best figure for it. Someone just do it and we can stop arguing about this pointless crap and focus on the more important things we still need to do! So STOP!" You take a breath, your chest heaving a little from the exertion of all the yelling you're doing. This feeling is exhilarating and a little terrifying. Letting your anger out feels good and that kind of scares you. Before anyone else can speak up again you point at Miyako.

"Just wear the costume. You put it together so whatever." You point again, this time at Erika. "And don't spring this crap on me when I'm still trying to get this all organized, okay?! I don't have the energy to try and settle the stupid arguments you all are getting into. Act your age!" Is that it? Did you let all of it out? You exhale sharply and then sit firmly back into your seat.

"Any questions? No? Good, let's move on." You don't give them a chance to argue and immediately move on to another issue, questioning Osamu about his prop building is going. It takes him a moment to answer before he does, stammering a little awkwardly at first. The atmosphere around the club table is a bit chilly the rest of the afternoon but you don't care. They're not sniping each other over a stupid costume and you get some business done for the whole thing so you count it as a win. By the end of the meeting, you're still riding your anger high and you're about to leave when Erika tugs you back. You glance at her as the others all pile out of the room to start the trip home, leaving the two of you alone. She stares at you, then puts her hands on her hips.

"What the hell was that?"

"What the hell was what?" God. You do not want to have this argument right now.

"Why did you just yell at us? At me?"

"Maybe because you were both being stupid about something I thought was settled. We don't have time to change this right now."

"We have plenty of time. I just wanted to see if we could swap things around, that's all--"

"No! Oh my God, no. It's not fair to her and you already said you'd do the sound so why are you getting so upset about it now?" You're still angry. It's not in full force yet but you can feel it simmering now. This is stupid. It's so stupid.

"It was just an option, Hanako. We were working it out why are you getting so upset over this?"

"Because it's not enough that I have to deal with getting ready for entrance exams but I also need to keep you two from acting like toddlers fighting over a doll apparently!"

"What?!" Erika seems shocked by the comparison, color starting to rise in her cheeks.

"You heard me!"

"You know what, fine. If you're going to just insult me over this I don't need to stand here and take it--I'm gonna go home. I hope you're in a better mood tomorrow." Erika huffs, then snatches her school bag and storms out the door and down the corridor to leave you alone in the club room. Your anger is still roiling in you, not quite boiling over. Grumbling to yourself, you pick up your own bag, make sure everything is in place, then turn off the lights and close the door behind you. As you put on your shoes and get ready for the walk home, you're still not happy, though your anger is slowly melting into an aggravate discontent. Pushing open the door, you hear a familiar voice.

"Hey, Hanako--didn't think you were her so late." You glance to the side and there she is. Akane. She grins at you, her backpack draped over one should and you can see where sweat has dropped onto her t-shirt. She must have just finished practicing or something.

"Oh. Yeah. Club meeting ran a little long," you reply.

"I know how it goes. I just saw Erika storming out of here though. She okay?" You grimace and look away, then shake your head.

"I don't know. There was some stupid argument in the club meeting and it got kind of heated. It's... it was dumb so don't worry about why, okay?" You chew on your lower lip a little. You haven't quite started regretting what you said but it's still starting to make some noise in the back of your mind. Akane sighs.

"Yeah that stuff is rough. Can't be easy being president and having to deal with it."

"Usually it's fine," you say with half a smile. "But this time some small thing just... made me explode."

She rolls a shoulder and reaches up to brush some of her bangs out of her eyes. She is tall and it's really not fair for a girl to be that tall. You take a breath and glance downwards.

"I'll talk to her tomorrow or something."

"Probably the best plan. How've you been otherwise? Wanna walk to the station?"

"Ah, sure... And it's been a little crazy lately. Club is doing that haunted house for the cultural festival, you know?"

"Oh yeah. I went in last year. It was pretty solid. Hope you guys pull it off again." Akane grins at you and your cheeks turn a little pink. Okay, maybe this was a bit dangerous, but you're fine. You're fine.

"Yeah! We definitely have a lot to live up to, but I think we'll be okay."

"Nice. We're still working really hard over in the volleyball club too. We have another game this weekend, you should come this time. You know, if you have time." You blink. Oh yeah, you 'd been wanting to go for a while but just have never had the time. Maybe it's time for you to check out. You smile and give a little nod--nothing else going on this weekend.

"I'll do my best to make it! I wanna see you guys play."

"Good! We need a louder cheering section!" You start to relax a little on the way to the station and by the time you get there, most of that lingering anger seems to be gone, leaving a sort melancholy that you can't seem to shake. You make it home without much trouble and deflect questions about school until you go to bed. The rest of the week blurs together. The club meetings are mostly business like and have a sort of chilly quality to them now, and Erika seems to be giving you the silent treatment outside of club functions. As Saturday rolls around, Akane sends you a friendly text reminding you of the volleyball game. You definitely have time this weekend, so you should go! But should you take anyone?

[ ] Go alone. If Erika wants space, better to her respect that and keep out of her hair until she decides she wants to talk.
[ ] Get Erika on the phone and see if she wants to go. It might be the best thing to try and start making up.
[ ] Don't go. You should probably just stay at home and study for the entrance exams a bit more, right?

This either goes kinda okay as a peace offering, or whatever issue Erika had with Akane before (possessive girlfriend vibe no doubt) makes the whole thing blow up even more.

If she wants space, I say give it to her. Trying to take her to a game involving someone she might see as a rival doesn't seem like that best of plans. Akane is Hanako's friend though, it might do her some good to just do something nice for her and not have to stress about stuff for a little bit.

Besides, Akane seems to have more or less have at least some degree of her shit together. maybe that'll rub off on Hanako somewhat. (Not in that way you filth people.)

Erika is already insecure about Akane. Let's not drag out this argument.

Hiding away isn't going to solve anything and trying to hide it isn't going to end well.

I'm sure watching a dozen tall, sweaty, athletic girls jumping and diving around won't cause Hanyako any embarrassment or any dramas with Erika.

Nooope. None.
