Autopasses

Now all we need to do is sneak in the 50 Perks to guarantee minimum grades, and there's nothing we'll need to be worried about school wise (besides Art and Practicality).

To return the favor, I think we should try to bring Yam up to Empathy All-50. It should really help him out, and teaching trains us as well.

So are you guys planning on paying back our bro for his time? Maybe next time we focus on training him in combat or more feels/diplomacy training?

So, you'll fully admit this. English was one of your worst subjects.

You could barely get through the lessons before falling asleep in class, or having your eyes get tired from all the lines you had to read. Trying to understand another language was just...really hard, ok? Especially one where something like "Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo" is considered a grammatically correct sentence. It just wasn't something that clicked in your head.
When your first language is something like Japanese, English is a really tough cookie.
Compared to your professor, Yamato just makes everything so simple. His monotone voice would induce apathy and a need to sleep if it was coming out of anyone else. But somehow he's able to make you hang on to his every word.
Hmm, I wonder how husky he can make his voice. Asking for the harem's sake, of course.
You...managed to recall that information...without looking at your notes.

"How the-"

Yamato is in your face before you can keep going, holding up a piece of paper with English writing on it, "What does this say?"

"The Cherry Blossoms are blooming this year," you say without missing a beat. Then you eyes go wide as Yamato yanks the paper out of your face, "Wait, what the-"

"Look at this screen," he doesn't give you a chance to breathe before shoving his phone screen in front of your eyes. You soon realize that this is a smaller, shorter version of the mathematics you see Yamato doing all the time. Whenever you looked at it, all you saw was a jumbled mess of numbers and symbols.

And that's what you see now.

But you can make sense of it all.

"I...I can understand this now. What the hell?"
This is like that moment in Critical Role Campaign 1 when Grog was turned into a giant eagle, giving him the intelligence of 8.
Polymath Upgraded Into Pantomath: You know a lot of information. To the point where you're just about a walking library of History, English, and Math. It's kind of scary how much you're able to recall off the top of your head. Auto-Pass 1 History, English, or Math Check. This Auto-Pass works on multiple Checks, however they must happen one after the other.
You know, this really fits on Hayato. He is not super smart, but he has very terrific memory.
Though that did mean you had to find a place outside of school and away from prying eyes to practice. The good news was that Hose actually knew a place. An empty underpass beneath a bridge that went over one of the rivers in town.
The anime staple.
What they were though was precise. He knew exactly where to hit you to inflict the highest amount of damage possible. Solar plexus, your heart, joints, whatever was in his reach he went for. And he was no slouch in speed either. All these attacks came out faster than you could see. By the time you realized what had happened, the pain had already set in.
Hose: "You're already wounded."

Hayato: "What?"
[MMA: 16 + 25 (15 + 10 (Hose Training) = 41]
Nice, very nice.

Probably some Empathy training soon, to get us closer to unlocking his quest chain. When it comes to combat it is best to let him train that with Yameko.

A really good progress to Hayato. Will be nice if we focus in teaching feelings to Yamato and more MMA training for the tournament... Or doing the Yato quest, I guess.

No additional AP is a bit rough, I must admit, but autopasses are dang good so I'm not too sad about it. Being able to reliably pass a Math check sounds like it could be useful in a variety of situations, and the same goes for History given the setting. English is a bit more niche, though there's probably situations where that's useful.

Also, +25 per AP to MMA because of our social? Dang. I knew this'd be the case, but it's something entirely to see it in action. With 2 AP, we'll get it to 91, which breaches the threshold for turning it into a supernatural martial art.

As a bonus, we'd still be able to use it as a mundane martial art if we hold ourselves back. That way, we're basically assured to win in tournaments.

We could spend the other 2 AP on getting Empathy: Interests from 3 to 33, I suppose, and train with Yamato to raise his Empathy: Interests as well. I like the idea of doing a favor in return for him after all his help with our Education, tbh.

If I had to venture a guess at where more AP might be found, I'd try Tactics: Preparation and the Tactics All-50, Dodge or Trickery, or start poking at Invention.

The two sources of AP we've gotten were from increasing our ability to manage time, therefore the "Planning" Skill makes sense to have something there, Dodge/Trickery would help us physically avoid time wasters

And Invention traditionally helps people invent personal watches :V

Hm, I think you're on to something.

A long while back, I recall LinkOnScepter saying something about how high Cleverness may improve our AP, but high Preparation also sounds like it'd fit.

And even if it isn't useful for AP, that's the sort of thing that is generally useful in combat anyway. (Well, Cleverness more then Preparation for our particular build, but you know what I mean.)

Huh, so we should also have the Resistance All-20 now. Admittedly, I understand if there was just no place to fit it in narratively.

I think we've managed to avoid all serious Supernatural fights so far.

Which means we should try to sneak in an AP of Mental Resistance and then drop another into Mountain, so we're close to as strong as we can be to avoid the inevitable Worf attempts :V

@LinkOnScepter if we unlock caps on a Skill the same turn we train said Skill, are we still limited by the Cap for that turn?

So if we spent an AP on Resistance: Mental (while training with someone) and one on Unyielding Mountain, would we get stuck at 50 or would we go past it?

If you manage to break the cap while Training Resistance before Training UMD it would increase the Martial Art Skill.

Week 7.2
[Resistance: All 20]

"You wish for me to what?" that's the closest Yamato has ever sounded to absolutely shocked. You'd give Yato an award for managing that, if you weren't just as shocked as your bro right now. Even Yameko's expression of calmness and civility has changed into one of stunned silence.

However, Yato can't seem to read the room as he repeats, "Please pick up a knife and attempt to stab Lord Hayato, Lord Yamato."

There's silence again.

"Brother, is there a way for you to end your Bond with Yato?"

"Hold on, Yamato," you say while holding up a hand, "Let's give Yato a chance to explain. You are going to explain, aren't you?"

"I will, but I do believe a demonstration would be better than my words alone. You carry those small projectiles, fox. Could you use them?" he directs the question to Yameko who is currently laying down on Yamato's bed reading a text-book of some sort.

She huffs while pushing herself up by her elbows, "I see no reason to indulge you, spirit. Especially when it involves harming Yamato or Hayato-sama."

"I swear to all of you, on my life and honor, that I mean no harm by this. Believe me...please."

The room goes silent again. This time at Yato saying "please".

Cause this is the first time you've ever heard him say that word before. The fact that he's saying it to Yameko makes it doubly shocking.

"...Yamato....I think we should trust him," you shake your head at how crazy you sound. But you're willing to put some faith in your Partner. You shake your arm and go, "Got that, Yato? I'm trusting you here."

"And I will be forever grateful for it, Lord Hayato. Could you please remove your shirt so that Lord Yamato may hit your flesh?"

"I....guess. Kind of weird though," then again, you suppose letting your brother stab you with a sharp object at the behest of a ghost living in your gauntlets is just as weird.

As you take off your shirt, Yamato is still hesitant. He's silent for ten minutes before your reassuring stare wears him down. He asks Yameko for one of her darts which she hands over with slight trepidation. Yamato takes aim at your shoulder but not before saying, "Let me be clear on something, Yato. If this in anyway harms my brother, I will make you answer for it."

"Understood."

Yamato is silent and still for a tense moment. Then he throws the small, spherical dart towards your naked shoulder. Its razor sharp tip shines in the light as it soars towards your body. You fight back your instincts to dodge or block it somehow, letting it go right passed your guard. You feel and see it impact...then fall to the ground without leading a scratch.

Everyone has the same reaction at the same time, "What?"

Except for Yato, "Just as I thought."

"You knew this would happen?" you ask your Partner.

"In a sense. Our training to improve your body, soul, and mind, Lord Hayato, has born some fruit. Your physical form, mind, and spirit have all become hardened to the effects of mortal weapons. I do not believe you have much to fear from mundane sources of harm anymore."

"So, what? I'm immune to bullets now? Cause if I am, then that sounds pretty far fetched. Even after everything that's happened."

"I would not go that far. Your body, mind, and soul are not immune to all sources of damage. They are merely more resistant to mortal versions. If a mortal were to attempt to use mundane mind control, say through hypnotism, they would likely fail before they even began."

"But you started his training many weeks ago. How long have you known about this?" Yamato asks, picking up the dart and handing it back to Yameko.

"More than a week, but I was not completely certain until now. I apologize for not informing you both," you feel that Yato would be bowing his head right now if he could.

You simply smile and pat your arms, "Hey, don't sweat it, Yato. Least you told us now...though why exactly?"

"It has to do with my plan to regain my memories," all eyes turn to your gauntlets as he lays out his idea, "Simply put, I believe it is possible for me to form a mental and spiritual connection with Lord Hayato. We would, in a way, begin to share a mind. And doing this should allow the both of us to search my mind for my missing memories...in theory."

"This entire diea is based on a theory? Then it must be dangerous. Else you would be more certain," Yameko points out.

"I am aware of that, fox. But...I have no knowledge of doing this before. Thus I can't guarantee anything for the two of you. I, once more, apologize for this."

You and Yamato share a look. A brief conversation passes between the two of you. Then you respond to Yato, "I'm guessing you didn't say any of this before because you didn't think I was ready?"

"Yes."

"Alright then. I'll let you know when I'm ready to start."

"Really? My Lord?" Yato's voice has a tinge of excitement to it.

"We did the same for Yameko and Hiroko. I see no reason to not offer you the same courtesy," Yamato elaborates for your Partner.

"I will be forever in your debt for this. Thank you, my Lords," Yato responds with gratitude that makes you feel really happy.

Well, looks like you've got another way to help your Partner out. Just gotta let him take a connect his mind to yours for a bit.

Shouldn't be too much trouble...right?

New Perk Obtained: No Man On Earth: Your Body, Mind, and Soul have all been conditioned to the point where they can resist most harmful things. Primarily, those of the typical mundane variety. All mundane weapons (save Guns, Cars, Buildings, etc.), physical, mental, and spiritual suffer a -25 Penalty to their rolls and deal 3 Less Damage.

Yes, I did just now realize I forgot about some of the Perks you Unlocked from Feelings and Motives.

I swear I'm good at running Quests.

Now that's useful. Especially in the upcoming tournament.

While starting the quest chain for Yato is tempting, I'd prefer us first helping Yamato to keep his promise. And since weekends are the only time we can conduct research, getting perks that up our Diplo and starting Rel points would be useful for those actions, and also just generally. Finally, we should check out what's going on at the club, since Hose says that there's something going on and we'll always help a friend in need.

[] Go train with Hose (Relationship: 1/10)
should be 2/10 according to the front page.

Hey guys wasn't the plan to help pay our brother back by giving him more emotion skill?
That's for Weekdays.

We can train on Weekends, but we're only able to do certain Quests and Research on Weekends so those generally take priority unless there's something we're really focused on getting ready for.
And I wouldn't recommend doing that next week. We can start paying our bro back by first letting him use all of his AP the way he sees fit.
