To those who oppose it because of the political implications: Would it help the flavor of Ever Present if it were a recommendation/request offered to Amanda by someone else in the government instead of it being her own idea? "We really hate to see you go, but I get why you need a break. Could you pretty please come back and help?"
I am actually very torn right now.
Both options are great, both have their advantages and disadvantages.
They are, luckily, similar enough, that I can live with either winning.
After the above discussion I currently think that Ever Present is likely a bit better currently, but only if Amanda could begin to prepare a research institute for Mary and possibly Iris asap.

I think I'll be going for "Ever Present", if only because the shiplords are still out there, cannot be ignored and Amanda wouldn't "do her own thing" as long as this threat exists. In my interpretation of her she'd think a closer link to the government (ie, president on speed dial) gives her more options to help than going the semi-independent researcher route.

I am actually very much lukewarm on the R&D. I am much more interested in spelunking through the Elder Vault and unlocking a bunch more hero units, and pushing our Speaking to the next level.
Both of which are more available with the World option, so here we are.

And at the moment, my primary focus is on the alien diplomacy, perhaps accompany them to their home system, speaking about/on behalf of humanity, researching The Well, doing mass focussing experiments, ... and that's more plausible for a government attached person.
