It Belongs to a Museum

Pahtsekhen was always bound for the Liche Priesthood, and would've basically always known that as a first son he was bound for the Liche Priesthood.

He has quite possibly NEVER experienced the fear of the inevitability of death that gives you the mindset conducive to wielding necromancy.

I can't even imagine what that might be like. Growing up knowing you are going to be immortal, but your family only gets to be immortal if you do your job right, and that could be thousands of years in the future.

Why is not doing necromancy so bizarre that there needs to be an explanation for it?
"Yes, I feel it's a- frankly- somewhat derivative field of study, though admittedly with glimmers of inspiration and originality. Not to deny that study of its history can form an interesting lens through which to understand life, death, souls, and the Divine.

I recall the first time it came to attention, in the wake of this self-aggrandising, even egotistical, social climber. Despite my best efforts, his slick promises would lead a gifted and headstrong young woman astray for years. Eventually, his ego couldn't stand the thought that she may actually eclipse him in the field of immortality research, and so in one of his lowest acts, he cursed her finest work. So, yes, while I personally have complex feelings regarding its study, it's nevertheless always a pleasure to discuss any subject with an engaged student such as yourself."

Meaningless? No. Able to stop the Great Clans getting stuff? Also no. For one, Skaven being Skaven, there'll always be that one who thinks he's clever and sells anyway. And for two, while the price might go up, the Great Clans are such for a reason. If they can't afford the price, they wouldn't be Great Clans. And if one could buy an advantage over them so easily, they wouldn't remain Great for long.
Personally I would not buy a bomb from skaken for 4 reasons
1. I do not trust one to not Welch on a deal
2. I think buying a nuke is something that more likely than not is going to only (possibly) literally blow up in our face
3. I don't want em to know where we live and finding someone to move it with out exploding himself
4. Ugly

Wanting to bring someone back to life is a powerful motivator that lends itself well to necromancy, even if you yourself don't fear death. It's what led to that one High Elf liche who invented necromancy before Nagash.

[X] Vampire Skald

His authority is quite broad which is great. Plus his knowledge applies to both the skeletons and the ship

And I would say at least 30% of everybody uncle cares about( so far) is some manor of around

Honestly I'd say having a Wight King that knows smatterings of Necromancy working in a museum dedicated to Luthor is still a big enough flex in the Pirate King's name.

Also I want to see Paht get invited on chill fishing trips as one of the boys once they become friendly enough.

All of these sound so cool but since our first exhibits are going to be Skeletons and the Dread Abyssal I'm torn on which subordinate would maximise returns on both. The Black Lion and the Barrow King could both make the skeletons cool while the Skald would make the Dread Abyssal the coolest.

At this moment, Valkyrie is "slighty winning"

One bit I like about the Skald is how much of a kindred soul he seems to be to Paht. He was made a vampire slightly to soon to get the spicy new Depth Guard bloodline, but rather than brooding about that he has spent the centuries since then being jolly and social. Just like Paht wouldn't have needed to be born that much later to receive that pleasant new vampirism immortality, but hasn't let that distract him from his hobbies. Teaching and storytelling are also much more ends of a spectrum than distinct things.

Like I could totally imagine the Skald forming a (b?)romance with Paht that lasts even past this station of their immortal lives.

The Skald is also the OG Awaken(person the Awakening) who undoubtably knows all the secret day life places and the best ways to enjoy the city in addition of being a immense ally in managing Luthor's personalities.

[X] Stranded Valkyrie
Unique OLD ONES lore calls to me, we must have it! Also by my reckoning the most likely to leave and be lost to us.

[] Barrow King

More unique knowledge, insights into necromancy for the museum and another culture's "mortuary cult" for us. Can bring our exhibits to life(literally). Noted to be homebodies, least likely to leave, can probably wait. I like it but not for this round of voting

[] Vampire Skald

Technically the "correct" option for the purposes of our museum. Excellent docent material, knows Lutr's story front to back, personable, and his storytelling abilities would help bring our exhibits to life(metaphorically). Has presumably been in Awakening the entire time but the profession is one prone to wanderlust, moderate risk of leaving. Next pick for sure.
