Operation Weihnachtswunder (A CK2 Style Quest to Save Christmas!)

I read it as "I will not vote for this." Not "You are not allowed to do this."

Considering that Zimmer explicitly used the word veto over anything else* and did not explain why at all, made it seem like they were privy to behind the scenes knowledge, and were saying "not allowed" because of that to me.

*Especially because veto means to deny/forbid/prevent. Not pass.

Fuck it we ball? Man I'd like some context aside from "know mythology and you can prob make some inferences".

You know what, that's fair.

As you can probably guess, most of the item is meant for either you, or one of the characters that benefits from them. The ring for Jack, the branch for Krampus, the knives for Wesley, the choker for Cecilia, the potion for Blitzen (this is the only one that doesn't benefit you.) While the birds do benefit you (and were based on Huginn and Muninn, good catch for the person who caught that!), they can also be used by Ignorance and Want.

The only item you cannot give is the Coat of Christmas. That is for you and you alone.

Random event means Xistoria is coming too?

Yep! She'll become a Contact.

Not sure how I feel about the potion of humanity and have no strong opinions on the other options, but let's get something nice for one of our saddest beans.

As said, almost certainly cursed.
the ring *probably* isn't cursed, and if it was it probably wouldn't be the end of the world? we could either just not put it on or use other magical assets to deal with it? if it's an issue
Puts me in mind of Jadis tearing off and then planting lampposts, and I don't think Scrooge would want any part of that action.
eh maybe? as something vaguely christmassy i could see it, but my first thought was something more ornamental, perhaps as a wand/ritual focus? like i was thinking of if it was called a jeweled branch or a sacred branch

though like norvus says, the branch is meant for Krampus (so a weapon? probably like a stronger birch rod) and the Ring for jack is probably something stealthy? so going off pop culture it's probably going to grant invisibility lol
I know the vote's already over and all, but I'm confused as to why you think you can just veto shit. You aren't even the qm.
as for the veto incident it might seem weird, but veto is probably just an awkward choice of words (though there's not really much better, so it can't be helped?)
think of it like an anti-approval vote? they're spending their vote on saying "i'd like any choice except this one" which is sort of a valid way of doing things but i think i've done it in the past, and it's still effectively one user's worth of votes so not unfair or anything (assuming approval votes are allowed in a quest, but that's hopefully the case unless voting for something specific where that doesn't work)

Good morning! Going to leave the vote open for a bit, as I work on some bits of the next update, some cereal, and returning to college. So I will busy for a bit.

Edit: Going to end it at Should give me enough time to get the Subvote ready.

For local time Statements, could you use the Forums time tool?
Crossed Spanner+Screwdriver -> Time

Then the Forum automatically translates from your local timezone to the readers timezone.

Right, so the birds and ring won. The birds are inspired by Huginn and Muninn. Though they do not fly around the earth every morning. But you can get information you wouldn't have access to otherwise. You can control them or let them act on their own, and you can see what they see.

They can also be used in combat! They fire little beams of energy at your enemies, or peck with sharp beaks. They always act, unless you dictate otherwise.

If you choose to keep them, they are better at info gathering. If you give them to Ignorance and Want, they are better at combat.

As for the ring, it is a ring that can stores luck. Especially luck for those who operate in the shadows and under the cover of night, only being used as needed. It recharges every year on the Winter Equinox, refilling back to full.

Jack can use this on some of his actions, especially if they are done at night. But they could help you during your Christmas Ride avoid problems.

I will open the Subvote in a bit. But consider your options.

Can you tell us what the others would have done? And can we brew our own potion of humanity?

Let me get back to the house, and I'll try and get that to you. You will have some options when you make the trades, and you can get a hold of the rest of the items.

And yes, though you will need an Alchemist, or some Christmas Spirit (Or something else) to trade.

Can we reassign afterward or is it always locked? the Ring for the First few Xmas's would be good as we are at our most vulnerable. But after we might wnana move it?

Good question. The longer you hold on to them, the more likely they are to be locked. Especially if they become part of the legend of Santa Claus. The same if Jack or Ignorance and Want hold onto it, though with different legends obviously.

Alright, so here we go...

The Metal Birds. +10 to Perception Rolls (+5 Each Bird). They can scout areas and act as your eyes in the sky, and can operate semi-independently to follow instructions. They can also give you alerts, depending on what you tell it to. (Such as if you tell it to find a person, for example.) They can also attack with beams of energy or sharp beaks. Unless someone has an Occult Score of 17, and is looking closely and directly at them, they cannot be told apart from regular birds

Who takes ownership?

[ ] You take ownership of the Birds. (Better Scouting. They look more like ravens)

[ ] Ignorance and Want take ownership (Better Combat potential. They look more like pigeons.)

The Ring of Luck and Moon. This unassuming ring stores what could best be described as luck. +5 Intrigue. While under the cover of night, it can give those who wear it unnatural luck with two modes: Either getting you to the first tier of success only, or always giving enough of a bonus to make it to the next tier of success (once per roll). It is not an endless reservoir, only containing 150 Units a Year, refilling every year on the Winter Equinox . You must be wearing the ring to gain the benefits.

Who takes ownership?

[ ] You take ownership of the Ring.

[ ] Jack Frost takes ownership of the Ring.
