To add my two cents to the "Eddard Stark and honour" discussion, the books also show us the positive side of him being honorable. Sure, he gets outmaneuvered in Kings Landing (when he walks into a situation with two very competent schemers plotting, zero allies, spends half the book on opiates and his greatest ally is Bobby B), but his honour has far reaching consequences beyond his death. Most people don't believe the Lannisters accusations of treason because of his honour, most people speak of him with respect, and the North not only rallies to him immediately, but even after the Red Wedding, when the main lords and/or heirs are dead or hostage, with all Starks dead or MIA, they are still willing to fight with Stannis to put Rickon, who is a baby, because of Eddard Stark.
By contrast, Tywin the ruthless political operator, can only keep people in line via bribery or threat of violence, is widely disliked, gets shot in the privacy by his own son, and the work of his whole life starts collapsing immediately after. I'm not saying that one should be honourable beyond reason, but honour is a virtue, not a drawback despite what realpolitik might say.
As for the husband discussion, may I suggest Harwin Strong? Canon shows us that he can have kids with Rhaenyra, is a nice guy, the Strongs are at the height of their power at the moment and it would help getting Riverlands support after we trashed Elmo Tully on the tourney. Also, our main man Tarly, with whom we should celebrate our Knighthood, says that a king must be Strong (Badumm Badumm tsss) and the kids between Harwin and this Rhaenyra would be swole beyond measure.
