[X][Argument] Take Vi's Side

There is no peace. Paid agents of the government just beat people up and are getting away with it.

Piltover is waging perpetual war against the people of Zaun. Violence committed entirely by one side is not 'peace'.

At some point, it is worth taking a stand. Rolling over ensures this exact behavior will continue.

I'm against the Pilties but I'd rather preserve Powder's sanity. It's not like her joining argument helps.

I don't think Powder has a strong opinion on this, even Jinx-era Powder doesn't seem to care much about the Zaun-Piltover divide and is more focused on Vi and engineering stuff. Staying out of it is sensible, pick our battles.

We only have so much willpower, after all, and the rolls are garbage enough and the maluses high enough that we'd have to use it. I'd rather get a couple good engineering rolls and lower one of those maluses. Trying to engage with everything will inevitably blow up in our face with Powder as she is now, but if we keep our head down focus on a couple of our maluses for a while, we'll be able to fix ourselves enough to get out of our downward trend.

I disagree with this somewhat, at least for Jinx.

We see from an early age that Powder hated the enforcers and was enthusiastically in favor of fighting back "think what the whole of the lanes could do!" We also see she was at least consciously okay with using lethal violence against them "and these ones have nails in them."

While it's common to assume her primary issue with Caitlyn in season 1 is Vi "replacing her" (and that's certainly part of it), that's a line by Sevika. What Jinx says is "you're working with an enforcer?" While I don't think Jinx actually considered VI's actions in Ep. 3 a betrayal (at least not longer term), she does start to become afraid of that after re-meeting Vi.

And then consider how Ep 6-7 looks from the perspective of Jinx-as-a-revolutionary. She re-meets her sister, but her sister is now working with the enemy. She's afraid her sister is really back for the hextech gemstone on behalf of Piltover, but Vi denies this. However, there's then a fight with the Firelights, in which Vi, Caitlyn, and the crystal disappear. Then later, Jinx catches Vi and Caitlyn working with the Firelights in an attempt to hand the crystal back over to Piltover.

There's also the whole bridge scene, which Jinx makes echo the one at the beginning. She's even humming the same song. Except this time instead of enforcers massacring Zaunites, she's massacring them. This is vengeance.

Then, at the finale - everyone acknowledges that war between Piltover and Zaun has been brewing. And Silco has just told her that he never would have agreed to their terms and "they can all burn." And who does she turn her hatred and anger on? Not the person who "stole" her sister. Not the sister who "betrayed" her. She turns it on the people ultimately responsible for the cycle of violence but who have thus far been completely unaffected by it, the government which is ultimately responsible for Zain's occupation.

Then, to move into season 2, While she doesn't say this, Jinx instantly recognizes how fucked up it is that Vi would join the enforcers and use The Grey against Zaunites. We see this in the demon faces scribbles that she sees over VI's face and in that after that point she starts planning to kill her sister, which she hadn't thought about before.

Jinx isn't the type to like start talking about revolution, and everything is mixed in with her own personal feelings and relationships. And there's also the fact that Jinx is suicidal and views herself as both a jinx and a bad person, so she might be distancing herself from "the cause" to avoid cursing or tainting it.

But she was raised by Vi and then Silco and both of them talked about it all the time, and given what we see of Jinx's own thoughts I don't think we should ignore that while she doesn't talk revolution, she's basically been living it.

if we keep our head down focus on a couple of our maluses for a while, we'll be able to fix ourselves enough to get out of our downward trend

I can understand not wanting to spend the willpower here, and I think if we don't spend the willpower we probably shouldn't take the roll just because our maluses are bad enough that we're at like a 42% chance of failure right now, right? So this is more about taking Vander's side. But in general, I feel like our insistence on trying to make friends with the Pilties is contributing to this. Earlier we passed up on a free +1 Stability and Willpower for it.

And just putting that out there because I continue to believe that the reason we're cozying up to topside so much is because they've got lots of named sympathetic characters. But whatever you think about Powder/Jinx's opinions, the Piltover/Zaun divide is absolutely something Vi cares about right now, and continually taking topside's side will push her away.

I don't totally agree with either side, and I feel taking a step back is better for now. I don't want to end up piltie-siding, but we need not interject at each instance.

The big issue here is that both side are right on n this, the exploration of Zaun is horrible but like Grayson say she can only mitigate the worst of it because as far the real people in power she can be easily replaced, the issue with in the relationship between Piltover and Zaun is that people in power want to keep it that way, the Chembarons just screw over Zaun because it keep they pockets full and the Piltover clans just don't care about the people they see beneath them, the people of the twin cities are fine by themselves but like i say the leadership of both cities want to keep the status quo with only a few individuals in power actually caring about general good of the people of both cities.

Don't worry Vander, she'll understand eventually.

I know that won't make you feel better.
