This was mostly done two days ago, but there were some larger issues with some of the text that required rewrites, and a thorough look over by my tech team to confirm that what I was doing lined up with my intent. Many thanks to both of the usual suspects for their help here, it was truly invaluable. I hope that the result proves engaging.

Could go for Wardens, Taldor, or Shipteens. The human ones just sound like industrial output reports and the Neras are too vague and mysterious for me to care about what's going on with them.
 
I was right! It's a controling intelligence for the secrets themselves!

...This is the answer. This is what the Shiplords want. What they have wanted for millions of years. Ever since the first sorrow. Because with this you just... change the rules, on the parties that go too far. That become monsters.

They lose access to the secrets... or the secrets update and suddenly what they were using doesn't work anymore. And in the hands of an AI it can be done far, far faster than they could ever hope to fight it.

We have to do it. Because if it works it doesn't matter if we get caught. Because if this thing is even a tiny bit Complete it can just... change the rules and force everyone to the table. I can't imagine it would willingly allow its creator's greatest friends to destroy its saviors. Or vice versa.

I don't know if I'm particularly worried about detection -- not here, not in this place, especially not if this turns out to be as awe-inspiring as Amanda's Focus seems to want it to be.

Heck. I kinda want to see the Shiplord radio chatter that would follow "massive energy flare at Origin, multiple data feeds detected in infospace matching Consolat protocols, and why the heck does the Archive suddenly look better than it has in aeons?!"

I believe in Vega and Amanda's ability to find what is needed for this later. (Also, am opposed to the frequent risk-affinitive tendencies that seem to occur.)

I am overcautious IRL. Here, I choose not to be. Let's trust in Amanda's instinct, and in Practice.
