Solar Auxilia Officer Quest. A 30k Early Great Crusade quest.

The Ninth Legion will engage the Rykogene fleet engaged with the Orks to drive them to Betelgeuse

"OOOOOOHHHH Boy! Bubba get out your frying gear because we're eatin' gator tonight!"

Look, I'm not saying that the Revenant's would be hilarious as a combination of Vampire-mutanta and Rednecks buuuuut...

Nah, I'm just yanking your chain, still, such a neat concept though for a species. The Great Crusade really matches the standard IG motto of 'Go out into the wide, open galaxy, see curious cultures, meet interesting people, and kill them'.

Wondering if we can get one of the larger Dragon skeletons on display in our future palace.

Be a bit morbid to show off the skeleton of someone who we killed, especially given we'd have also probably been party to the extermination of their entire people. It would be in character sure, but still kinda fucked up.

though, you know what might actually be an interesting quirk? for trophies we take bones from the monstrous kinds of xeno, but show a bit more respect to the ones capable of reason and some level of co-existence. So for the dragons i dunno, maybe scrap from some big fight we're a part of and a portrait of the most impressive battle we where in. Essentially treat our eradicated foes with various levels of respect based on how much respect they treated mankind with.

Hmm, that's a good point. Considering that they treat their own warrior caste with a 'let's chop off their limbs to put them in their armour' , I doubt humans get much better.

Besides, from the sound of things, they might actually be good to have in as mounts. Fighter to corvette sized biological dragons can be pretty cool. Use them like those big whale things from Avengers.

Though really, what are you guys expecting? We're going to absolutely not treat these guys with anything approaching respect, it's not in character and it's not in keeping with the culture Herrand is in.

oh not while they are alive, but there might be votes for how he treats the bodies of our dead foes down the line. It's a quest, characters grow and change based on the dice and the votes. We're going to be scouring worlds of all life, I suspect there will be some engagement with how our guy processes that. Though if he does take trophies, we should remember that while its in character it is still objectively fucked up.

Extrasolar Scouting Report: Cosmic Phenomena
Cosmic Phenomena and Self-Perpetuating disasters:
Vermillion Clearance.

For the eyes of the Imperial War Council.

In preparation for the Great Crusade, we have compiled a list of threats that do not classify as Xenoform and are instead closer to natural disasters. The following threats were found within a hundred light years of Sol by Rogue Traders and scout ships from the Legio Custodes.

Name: Psychomaton Manufactorum
Description: What is believed to have been the cloaked Psychomaton warship tasked with keeping watch over Sol by the Aeldari Dominion. The ship's cloaking mechanism has failed, and the ship has received heavy damage. Its machines are robbed of their guiding intelligence and have switched to automatic operations.
Danger: High.
Threat: Non-Expansionist.
War plan: The Psychomaton need to be destroyed before their vessels can become the hosts of the Neverborn. Recommend the deployment of the Legio Custodes with Exterminatus-grade Vortex devices to ensure destruction.

Name: Sun-Snuffer
Description: A Dark Age war machine capable of devouring suns through Quantum-Foam erasure. Suspected launched by the Men of Iron but damaged upon deployment. This device has been moving through the local interstellar volume for the last five thousand years at relativistic speeds due to a damaged warp drive. It is only the extreme damage to this weapon that has saved the local stellar volume from complete destruction. Currently stuck in orbit of Tau Ceti in self-repair cycle following damage by unknown party.
Danger: High
Threat: Extreme.
War plan: The Imperator Somnium is to engage at extreme range and destroy the Sun-Snuffer with protected bombardment. The remnants will be thrown into the Tau Ceti sun to ensure the destruction of any Omniphage.

Name: Warp-Suffused world.
Description: A rogue planet ejected from the Epsilon Eridani system during the Dark Age of Technology has become suffused with warp energies and now partially exists between reality and the Immaterium. The populace have all mutated to become psychic amalgams of shifting flesh, capable of wielding potent psychic powers.
Danger: High
Threat: Extreme.
War plan: First Legion deployment in full force to perform purgation operation, followed by memory-wipes and cull of affected individuals.

Name: Omega-Level Enslaver Outbreak.
[Redacted by order of the Imperial Household.]

Ah, I see the warp based xenos are at it again. Its good to know that the Emperor shall deal with them in good time and then everything will be amazing forever.

Wow. He'd rather use his few Custodes as scouts than let the Star Hunters have their own contact with enemies doomed to be removed from history. I can buy it.

hope none of these are going to be part of our next mission?

still good too know what kind of high level BS there is around us.

Ooh, Psychomatons are interesting.

Though really that depends on what take you're going for on them. I've seen some writers posit that they were essentially micro-God Constructs, tiny slivers of the Eldar Racial Gods that were used for literally everything in the Eldar society (The things that basically guranteed they were a post-scarcity despite the fact that literally every man and their dog was engaged in murder-orgies on an unfathomable level). This kinda explains why they shut down and became more dangerous to the Eldar after the Fall than anything else, what with being directly inhabited by aspects of Slaanesh.

Others see them as just being wraithbone constructs but pushed to the maximum limit. Essentially Wraith Shoggoths that were the Eldar equivalent to the Men of Iron.

Edit: Seeing that the actual ship, which might actually be a proper Eldar Warship judging by what its purpose was, was so close to Terra itself, that's super interesting. Was it intended to just act as a 'we're bored of this race now, eliminate them'? Or something closer to just facilitating Wyld Hunts?

It was a warship with orders to be ready to attack Sol on a moment's notice if need be.

The Eldar Dominion was maintained by a sword of Damocles hanging over the heads of most if not all races.
